Love it, but that birds nest wiring under the hood might give you grief down the road. Nothing that 4 hrs some beer and zip ties can't fix. But hey if it works it works.

I've probably spent about 10 hours on the birdsnest since this was filmed and it's alot better, still not great by any means but I removed a hell of alot of un-needed wires! I was staggered at the amount I removed and everything still worked. Funnily it's never broken down in 10 years or had any electrical gremlins, I put it down to everything being wired in twice so if one circuit failed there was always another. LOL!

@thewireman forgot the company that makes them, but there are always a few on american ebay or the samba .com just search turbo sidedraught manifold. vw turbo kits .com (all one word) also do them.
friend of mine but a gsxr1100 engine in the back of a vw bug base home made go cart . mounted the hole bike frame and engine sideways across the back
of the bug and chain driven to the original vw gear box he welded a sprocket on the vw output shaft . 6 revers gears and 24 forward gears .a quick change diff lol built in. hahar
oh its a weapon the front wheels are up in the air most the time., its a ruff as gutts farm built go cart built from a bug floor and steel pipe cage
in Australia i am building a tuff baja steet bug, with a draw through turbo setup like this;i have played around with this type of setup on other engines .you need water meth injection
to cool the in take air at or over 6 psi its a good thing. looks good mate
Question for you. I just bought a 1970 with the 1600, and i got some kind of linkage prob with the trans.. when i shift to 1st, it stays half the time, the other half it pops into neutral. Any ideas on what could cause that?
@MyAussieDay Definately! It ran a 14 second quarter in a buggy so should be fairly brisk. 6psi boost aswell. we shall see, I'll take an outing to the drag strip and put both the cars through their paces.
@GazHasJazzHands good choice, I got mine when I was 16, finished it in time to drive it into school, people SHAT, was the best car there easily. I'm 25 on Thursday so it's a keeper. ;-) Good luck with the test bud!
@UnmuffledRyan sweet, Im 18. Everybody at college gets chavy corsa's and clios. Can't wait to see their face when i pull up in a baja hehe. I'm wanting to base one around the same stye as yours. my dad says its proberly cheaper for me to get a normal bug and put a baja kit on it.

@plompek 106hp at the wheels @ 6psi boost. Ran it at 14psi for a while but now back down to 8 or so.
