  • lol you talk slow like were dumb

  • This was a really good tutorial, i liked it very much.

I remember I started with maya 1-2 years ago but I gived up becaus I didn't find some good tutorials but know am here again and learning Maya :D

I als want to say, this with hypershade was the most difficult when I tried to leran maya, but you explane it very very good.

I am happy you did this tutorial, and would be more happy if you got time and you want to create more tutorials :)

  • i can't right click with my mac mouse

  • the place were u write test, i dont got a menu there

  • This would have made more sense in HD quality. And yes I am aware HD was not an option when this video was released. I'm just saying! Nevertheless, a great set of videos. Thank you for taking the time out to do these.

  • I have a question, when you say in your videos for Learn Maya to click on mesh or edit mesh, i have no tool bar menu that says that. I did once see it up there on the tool bar and I don't know how I did that. So can you please Help me out. Oh and one more thing, your videos on Learn Maya are the best, I have learned a lot from them. Your great!

  • Make sure you have the "Polygons" menu set selected (see top, left - if it shows "Animation" or something else (ie anything other than "Polygons"), you won't see the Mesh Menu.

  • this is very easy i have exactly maya 8.5

  • my work area was blank

  • Keyboard 5?wheres that

  • On the right of your keyboard, there are numbers, from 1 to 9. Press number 5 =) Easy !

  • I can't find the straight to Hypershade button on the bars on the left at around 1:55 , where is it?

  • Oooh i hope i dont get to the end of these videos, keep them coming Robert!!

  • I just stumbled upon these videos and as a 3DS Max user that have really helped me get a grip on Maya

  • I got it IT IT IT!!! to make the thing were you can change color double click the icon blin =D any problems message me

  • Awesome~!

  • :) thank you its really nice of you to do this

  • Forgive me if i am being an idiot here

so if you are making a 3d video you have to render every frame for it by itself

is it not like video editing where you render the whole video at once

  • you make each frame in the 3d prog then bring it into you editing prog...

  • dno if its the same case with 3dsmax but in 3dsmax u make one image and then another with a difference like a can on one end of a table at frame 1 and the can at the other end at frame 50 and it automatically adds a tween so it renders small movements in each frame till it gets to frame 50

  • Maya 2009 non learning edition doesn't show the materials...oh well, moving right along...

  • All Video of you are best !!!

  • here's a tip. you can press "6" to see the rendered 2d texture

  • ok i figured it out guys, you need to DOUBLEclick binn1

  • i think the problem with the thing not showing up at the right might be because its the personal learning edition, anyone else having that problem thats NOT on the learning edition?

  • hey man, a lot of us are having this problem, "there are no setting defined for this tool" on the right hand toolbox, could you tell us what we are doing wrong or if you dont know? its hard to continue these tutorials when we arent learning everything, you said its best to start from the beginning but i dont think thats the problem since others are having the same mistake also. is there a way around this?

I second this plee

  • Thank you so much for putting this up. I figured out some stuff on my own but now I can do anything!

  • Why do you emphasise a word at the end of almost every sentence? It's incredibly AANN -OOOY -ING. Other than that. Nice tut.

  • It actually helps me as I'm partial hearing impaired! Lets me work using Maya while listening here. :) Horses for courses.

  • Hes from the UK deal with it

  • at around 3:05 when you say to change the material and everything I cant do that because it says " there are no settings defined for this tool " PLEASE HELP ME!

  • Sometimes the only thing you can do is to try it again from the beginning... good luck

  • its workin now, thanks so all the tutorials!

  • These videos have helped me so much.

  • omg...i clik on something and then evry thing in the hide now wt can i do?!info plz

  • The statement at ~5:30 actually isn't true. Pressing 6 on the keyboard will actually allow you see the texture applied to the mesh without generating an image of the scene.

  • Thanks for that...

  • I just want to say how much these tutorials are helping me

  • wow that took forever to explain. if you want to get the same final result, create a sphere, right click go to assign new material, pick material double click on color to change it.

  • Great, make it easier. This is the best tutorial I ever seen. The original acrobat reader document from autodesk with 700+ pages doesn't give you the easy and quick learning of this videos . Thanks again!!!!!!!!

  • yeah

  • Select your sphere. After assigning textures material to your sphere, THEN, try hitting the '5' button to see your altered sphere.

  • Did you click the accept button in the colour thing

  • Italianguy I didn't get it the first time either

  • im doin everything but once i wanna change the color of the test1 doesnt change why?

  • Italianguy7894 has made a basic mistake. Can anyone out there help him with his problem? To make this site a more effective learning resource all of you must help each other. So who knows the answer?

  • Make sure that you have your sphere selected before you "Assign texture material". If it is not selected then you are assigning a texture to nothing, therefore you do not see it. Hit "Edit" then "Select All", and try it again. Hope this helps!

  • Most likely the problem is that you have not selected the sphere before you assigned the material to it. Hit "Edit" on the top of the screen, then hit "select all". Then try it again, see if it works!

  • thanks
