I remember seeing a strike of lightning, looking strait up into the sky, seeing rotation moving FAST and telling my principal there was a funnel cloud in the sky. She laughed at me!!! I was in 4th grade, studied tornados my whole year in 2nd 3rd and 4th, 5 minutes later, she rushed us inside telling us to hurry to our shelters. HA TAKE THAT!!!
So I live in Greeley, now and I'm sure you know that isn't far away from Windsor at all. But, I moved here, i think a few days AFTER this happened. And i heard all the people talking about it and i've been curious to see how this looked like. Thanks for posting the vid! =)
My Mom sister and I were driving down I-25 but cut off towards in Loveland. We went through just minutes before the tornado hit. The driving was crazy..
They say the safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement or interior room with no windows. I say the safest place to be during a tornado is MILES AWAY!
Scary day. I'll never forget it. One minute I'm watching hail falling in my backyard the next I'm watching my fence getting ripped apart and I'm running downstairs with my dog.
Everything's repaired, but I'll never forget this as long as I live.
This video makes me cry. 1 year later and the pain is still there. I was cowering in my basement as the tornado was ripping apart my house. Thank you for posting this.
My parents live in Water Valley. My Mother works at the state Farm Promontory and her vehicle got totaled. She said people were calling their families to tell them goodbye....pretty scary how mother nature can destroy a community within minutes. Thanks for sharing.
Hey that's my hand with the hail. You pulled that off of the Windsor Beacon didn't you? I have to admit this video made me cry. I was caught in the tornado in my home and I had no idea what was happening. At the last minute after all of the windows in the house bursts I flew downstairs. I also have video of the hail. I just wish I had seen it coming. I wish I had had the radio or the TV on. Thank you for sharing this.
it was a mild ef-4 oh ya type in man vrs f-5 tornado on the search video there is a guy out there making up a lie saying this tornado was in Kansas and sersiously disrepecting me and our town for my house was hit by this tornado i have declared war on that video and i need your help to bring it down and to make sure that liar never does that agian
i was doing a 50 mile bike ride to windsor and back to greeley... on my way to windsor there was a ton of hail-golfball size hail-so we went inside a restuarant and they said a tornado was heading our way we stayed in their coller for about 2 hours joking around saying if we got stuck plenty of BEER TO GO AROUND
omg, if I was you I would have peed my pants!! Where I live, we just recently had a tornado warning (it was my first one) & i freaked out and started yelling at my parents telling them we had to go down into the basement lol. I cant imagine going through a tornado!!
i actually live in windsor and i remember that day i was so scared it seemed like the end of the world. i was at a friends house when it all happened thankfully my family and my home made it through.
May 22, 2008 my house was hit by this thing nothin but foundation i been crying since it hit. Please help my house is gone! nothing but foundation im writing from my dads laptop please help it was an F-5 for all those people who said it wasnt because in an interview with governer Ritter he said he said it was an F-5 so shut the fuck up damn tourists who thinks its cool who come down and take pictures of me and my family crying outside our whats left of our homes agian please help
I need to ask: Did you know that what was in front of you wasn't just a dark ominous sky, but in fact a large wedge tornado? When did you know how close it was to you and how big it was. It sounds as if y'all did ok, if so, I'm glad and thanks for this post.
I was pretty sure it was a tornado. The rotation was very visible and it was moving very fast. I shut off the camcorder and went to the basement once I started hearing glass breaking in my house. I really didn't know that it was as close as it was until about 10 minutes after it went through and neighbors started coming home with descriptions of the damage to the north of us.
@youlldietrying i was in it and i knew it was a tornado because you can easily see the rotation and im not 100% sure how far it was but it tore up my neihbors house a little north of mine.
that tornados cell was the same one that hit laramie wyming it wasnt near as big but it did a lot of damage. laramie at the time had 5other funnel clouds in the area i was at the middle school and our sport equipment shed got taken and so did our fence this is very very rare for us when our prinople said that the funnel was right over our school i thought about wndsor i hope u guys innsurence lol jk
Many people don't realize that Colorado get a lot of tornadoes, my county, El Paso county, is technically partially in tornado alley, as is a good portion of my city Colorado Springs, in fact where I live it technically is tornado alley, the dividing line is considered I-25. But to see a tornado like this... Wow! Great Video!
I understand it hits the homeowners now... but it really hits home with myself and my family. Over 80% of the homes in Garden Meadow East where most of the homes took damage were built by us along with Joes Brick Homes. Also the building by the preschool used to be an office building of ours next to the former Texas Heat and Carosel dinner theatre. May this never happen again.
Damn man a tornado close from where i live..i live at the ege of fort collins ..it hit like 3 miles from where i live ...i feel so bad for the people that that this storm effected
Dude, the tornado was right there in front of ya! Awesome video, glad you're safe.
