Turbo Express was the first truly portable console. You play the same games at home, unlike Gameboy or Game Gear. Too bad that sucker needed 6 AA batteries.
I like to think Sega was ahead of its time, with its CD and portable with TV-port. NEC was always one step ahead of Sega. The problem? The technology was too expensive for Sega, meaning it was REALLY too expensive for NEC.
TG-16 = $200
TG-CD = $400
T.Express = $250-$3000
Keep in mind we're talking 1990 dollars. All prices at launch.
I never saw the Turbografx at all back in the 90's, I didn't even know what the heck it was until I got older, good thing we have the Wii Virtual Console for those who don't have one.
I have 3 Turbografx games and I also have Gate/Lords of Thonder and Monster Lair, those are fun games especially Lords of Thunder.
