  • such a nice version matey! would you tell me what is the exact strum pattern? cheers!

  • What mandolin do you have?

  • @ALS1994yippee its a Dean

  • looks like Aaron Rodgers plays a killer mandolin

  • @ACDCfan11 thank you?... I guess. I can't say I've ever heard anybody say I look like Aaron Rodgers, but I hate that guy because I'm a Bears fan - he is a beastly quarterback though, I have to give him that

  • one of the best covers of this i,ve heard bro! keep it up

  • @2015beast Thank you! I really appreciate it

  • Great cover! Not a bad voice either. :) This is the song I am aspiring to learn on Mandolin as my first one.

  • the right order is G-D-Em-C

  • Mumford & Sons have a very unique sound. The fact that you captured their essence in this cover is outstanding. It's like trying to do an Adele song justice - very difficult to do.

  • What mandolin are you using?

  • @littleslyferret Its a Dean, I want to save up for one like an Epiphone

  • @kfree21 I saw your comment about getting a new mandolin. Just thought i'd recommend a shop called giannis violins and have a look at the eastman 305. High quality mandolin for $397 the list is something like $499 so I got one imported to the UK! The owner Steve sets each one personally and hes a proffesional luthier check him out!

    Henry

  • @TheBanjoHenry I would if I wasn't already saving up for an amazing delay pedal from the company Strymon

  • Please tell me what chords you used! I just bought a mandolin and I am a HUGE fan of Mumford and Sons so I really want to learn this song. Thanks, and please tell me the chords!

  • @MySanguineEyes its G, C, D, and Em for the whole song, just not in that order - look up the guitar tab for the order they are played in and then find a site that shows you how to play those chords on mandolin

  • @xgottagetthatx thank you :)

  • GARETH BALE!

  • @xxCONORBxx magic

  • 0:13 Gareth Bale?

  • @mushbabsimps hahah, I totally see the resemblance

  • @kfree21 quality singing though x

  • Hey, I'm the guy who has been posting all the tabs on the mumford and sons forums. I've just got to say... Brilliant! I'm very proud to see you have learned this! Keeping going!

I'm going to be posting loads more mando tabs! And I also play guitar/bass/banjo/mandolin/piano/percussion and would love to act collaboratively... cheers!

  • @Macheeoo Thanks brother, and collab sounds great

  • This was really good! What kind of mandolin is that? I have a Galveston

  • @sissyb12 Thank you! this is a Dean, its actually not mine but the guy I borrowed it from doesn't really want it back so thats pretty sweet - I wanna get a nice one some day

  • @kfree21 Wow that's awesome! You're really good, keep playing!!

  • hey dude i play the banjo and guitar and stuff and i was wondering if you wanted to do a collab of us playing this song?

  • @iMilodesigns Dude thats a great fucking idea, im down for sure

  • @kfree21 i'll youtube message me my email so we can communicate easier and less publicly :P

  • could you please post tabs

  • @rayrey44 The chords are G, C, D, and Em (not in that order) look up the actually chord tab on ultimate-guitar and search mandolin chords on google and you'll find plenty of sites that will show you how to play the four chords in the song

  • @kfree21 thanks

  • I'm pretty sure you're playing it and singing it better than Marcus Mumford lol.

  • @blindboygrunt13 hahah I wish that was true, but I would kill to have his voice and writing talent

  • dude ur amazing, its like im hearing it again for the first time again

  • @ExglamationMark thanks man, thats probably one of the most badass comments I've ever gotten!

  • you may want to take a deeper breath before you sing, other than that... i enjoy your playing sir and i tip my hat to you.

  • @SeniorSmurf1 yeah sometimes I lose my breathe, but this was just a real quick post, sometime I wanna do a whole band version

  • Wow, you're really great!

  • @GuitarGirlMia oh stop it, haha - thank you so much, I am glad you took a moment out of your day to check out my video! Look out for a new one soon!

  • Ahahaha that was totally amazing!! I'd love to play with you randomly one day.

  • @9lilmissperfect thank you :) and that would be pretty awesome

  • @kfree21 Can you play anything else by Mumford and Son or any other song in geneal?

  • @9lilmissperfect I can play the title track on guitar and I am figuring out the Cave on mandolin, other than that I don't know much on mandolin, I only started playing it because my band wanted to have it on our last release, it turned out really good too, check it out here - alaskatheband.bandcamp.com - I would really appreciate it, and you can download it for FREE!

  • @kfree21 Apperently my other comment failed to appear. You guys are really really good. I'm a huge fan of By My Side and Since Yesterday so far. Do you guys have a page I can subscribe to that way I can a) get updates and b) send to my friends. They'd love these songs.

  • i love this. and youre super adorable with your singin :)

  • @dredre58 thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it

  • HOLY SHIT...k so ur marrying me then teaching me to play so we can play together forever <3

  • @LaurenMinutes sounds like a deal! Thank you so much, I'm at a loss for words right now - you're awesome!

  • Hey what chords are you playing? I'm new to the mandolin.

  • @strykarr G C D and Em make up the whole song

  • @kfree21 Ok cool thanks, what's the third note you're playing in the verse?

  • @strykarr E minor

  • lovely voice mate! That was great! whats the strumming pattern your playing?

  • what kind of mandolin are you playing? i'm trying to decide which one to buy

  • @eellis12391 This is a Dean, its really cheap but gets the job done - i dont know much about mandolins so I would just read reviews on the site you are buy from or the site of the store you will go and buy it from

  • @eellis12391 G C D and Em make up the whole song

  • That is amazing mate!

How long had you been playing mandolin generally and then how long for this song when you made the video?

I literally picked one up for the first time today :3 My aim being to get as good as you :L

  • @KendalMintcake94 I have been playing for about 6 months now and when I recorded this I had only been playing for about a week and a half to two weeks. Its really easy to learn and fun as hell to play

  • Omfg man u sound great mandolin and singing i love u have my babyies xDDDDD jkjk no homo

  • @luis11532 LOL thank you - definitely one of my all time most enjoyable comments, so congratulations on that

  • @kfree21 hey whay chords are playing throughout the song?

  • Just bought an ep, but have no money so only paid 50p :(

  • hahaha I read the PSS in the info. I laughed and waited for it...hahaha. Really though, that was amazing and I'm sure Mumford would be proud if he saw this.

  • awesome cover well done!

  • first off nice work! I love that band and your cover did that song justice :)

second how did u learn the mandolin? I have been playing guitar for over 5 years and recently decided to learn the mandolin. I have been playing around on them at music stores and what not but should have my own in a few weeks. are you self taught or what?

    thanks!

  • @Katgoad Thank you, I love Mumford as well

And I am completely self taught, I started playing because my band wanted to try it on a song we wrote, so a friend let me borrow it and I picked it up really quick. Its really easy, the strings from the bottom, closer to the floor, to the top, are EADG, first four strings of a guitar, but obviously each one is doubled. I love it, they have great sounds but I need to buy my own sometime.

  • Jesus Christ! please say you go busking. That is just too good to be kept inside. Wow.

  • @MissRozilind does busking mean playing shows? I have honestly never heard that term in my life - and I've never played this out live, but I do go out and play shows with my band - download our EP for FREE at alaskatheband.bandcamp.com

  • @kfree21 Busking is playing on the streets for money, but it's different to begging, like street performance. Are you American? Because we do it a lot in England. Especially at Christmas. Cheers for the free EP. :)

  • @MissRozilind I am American, I live in Chicago, IL and in Chicago you need a license to do street performance - but I wish I could just go out there and do that at any given time

You're welcome for the EP, hope you enjoy it!

  • ...and once again, great voice! love also the variety of it! its officially my second fave from you ...and btw its a great 'attempt' :)

  • @kikeesun thank you so much, really I can't even explain how much I appreciate you even watching my videos, but that you actually enjoy them so much is just amazing.

  • is it g d c and Em?

    (not in that order)

  • @mandolinplayer13 yes it is

  • Im impressed :)

  • @nic95ole thank you :)

  • Great Job on a Great song! I am just starting to learn Mandolin and I sure hope it pays off as it has for you!

  • wow, this is really good :)

  • @jamiecook1993 why thank you

  • what are the chords/ notes for this?

  • @crazywillis1357 Chorus - C G and D, verse - G D Em C Except on the the Lyrics - "was the same that sent me into your arms" and "and no hope, no hope will overcome" the chords are G D C thats the whole song...if you need to find out how to play those chords on Mandolin, Google mandolin chords

  • @kfree21 thanks so much..great vid btw

  • ok. Ok. ok. so.. Mumford and sons is one of my very favorite bands, and you. You sir, i admit I havn't listened to you in a while ( sorry ) but you have gotten a ton better than the last time I watched you. You were incredible before, and now you are 10times that. Way to go :) keep it up

    .youtube.com/watch?v=jlmQenx9mzk

  • @Blaxland02 thank you and I shall check out your cover

  • sick dude!

ps - never heard of these guys

pps - i heard dicks. haha just kidding.

  • @bck205 thanks man, and these guys are awesome. Think of The Builders and the Butchers mixed with The Snake the Cross the Crown and then put them in London, then you have Mumford and Sons.

  • I think I have a mandolin similar to yours. Either way, hoorah, this is beautiful :) Mumford and Sons are genius and you played this song like a genius. Good job

  • @grapevynefires Thank you so much, and yes Mumford & Sons are wonderful. This mandolin actually belongs to a friend of mine, he is letting me use it for songs on my band's upcoming EP. I am definitely going to buy one though.

  • kyle.. love love love!

  • @milk4lumi Thank you so much Lumi, I'm really glad you like it. I'll keep you posted on my band's new release which features this mandolin on a few songs
