This song really brings me back to the time when the Cold War was at its peak. We literally thought we were all going to die in a nuclear hellfire in the 1980s, it seemed like nuclear war between USA and USSR was unavoidable. Germany was the "front line", being divided at the time between East and West. This song seems upbeat and maybe even a bit silly now, but at the time, hearing a German girl singing about the end of the world was emotional stuff, and this song's ending was/is haunting.
