  • Yea i did this video years ago.. i never got to doing the Hebrews 10 passage. I should though, cause some pretty interesting and encouraging stuff comes out of it when you look closely at the text. There's some stuff in that passage that seems very condemning and hopeless in the forefront, but when these things are examined closer and exegesis is carried out with more responsible hermeneutics than just our first impressions, some really encouraging and powerful stuff comes out.

  • Hebrews 10:26–31 ?

  • Great video!

  • this is exactly how i have interpreted this passage. This is the first time i have heard someone else interpret the same way. That's awesome! The context is dealing with lack of maturity in the believers. And yes the context does begin in 5:10 which most fail to see. This is why, i think, most misinterpret this passage. Good work! way to exegete the passage!

  • There are diffent ways that poeple interpret that passage. I've never heard of it this way that you're doing it. But in my opinion, I think the simple exegesis can be performed WITHIN the chapter in itself. If you have the time, here's my take on it.

  • 1: this video looks like it was made in china.

2: I have to teach a study on this Sunday so the question i have for you is how could it be impossible to restore them to repentance if we are called to a life long process of repentance from sin?

  • This so far is the best breakdown I've heard on this passage. Thank you.

  • notice, that this video is not entitled "total proof for eternal security", this is because the point of the video was to explain hebrews 6:4-6 in conjunction with its surrounding material, and to show that those that claim this passage is promoting loss of salvation are doing so in ignorance of the context.. its just not what is being discussed by the writer in this passage.

  • Hey Josh,

Just wondering what your thoughts were concerning......

    2 Corinthians 13:5

    Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;

IF someone is "saved" by definition "by grace through faith" why do you think Paul is instructing ppl to check themselves? Either you are in the faith or not right?

Are these "believers" not really saved or have they fallen from grace?

Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

  • this made me feel so much better. thank you so much and God bless

  • thank you for watching my video. but it is our job as followers of christ to faithfully handle his word, and tactfully exegete his word. opinions and rhetoric dont matter, what matters is what the text says; and to hold to the reading of this text as that you can lose your salvation is to miss the context. when we crititique eachother we must point out what is wrong IN THE TEXT, with the material presented, not based upon opinons.

    love you guys

  • I love you attitude about seeking and submitting truth regardless of presuppositions and the fact that you were willing to ask questions shows you are open minded.

With that said, I do not agree with your exegesis. Even if your explanation of the text was sufficient, it still neglects a large amount of other things on the subject said by the author of Hebrews.

    Heb 2

-Paul uses "us", lumping himself in

-"lest...we should let them slip (drift away)

-"how shall we escape if WE neglect..."

  • Heb 3

    -talks about faith

-IF we hold fast our confidence (conditional statement vs.6)

-reminds the readers of the Jews who did not make it to the promised land (vs. 7-11) because of unbelief (vs. 19)

-vs.12-14 (take heed...departing from the living God...hardened through sin...IF we hold fast...)

    Heb 4

-LET "US" (Paul included) FEAR...come short of it (God's rest)

-rest is coming...let us LABOUR lest we fall after that same example of unbelief

  • Other passages of note: Romans 11:16-21 -Boast not -because of UNBELIEF the natural branches were broken off -be not high-minded but FEAR -God spared not the natural branches...lest he also spare not you -IF YOU CONTINUE in His goodness (conditional) -also see John 15 (many IF statements) 2 Peter -1:10 -2:1 (denying the Lord that bought them) -2:15-22 (forsaken...gone astray...escaped the pollutions...through knowledge of Christ...entangled again...better not to have been born...)
  • Your Hebrews 6 reference to "parapipto" isn't in the OT. It is used once in the NT and means "to fall away (from the true faith): from worship of Jehovah"

There are a host of more passages I could list (John 15, Heb 10, Heb 12 etc.)

I just want to say that I was recently challeneged on this subject and found eternal security to be a faulty hypothesis. I was an independent fundamental KJV only baptist who was kicked out of his church for questioning this very thing.

  • So I appreciate your truth-at-any-cost attitude that ensures in my mind that you will study out what I've said and let me know what you think! If you want more great stuff, type "Tim Warner pristine" and go to "pfrs". God Bless!

  • Though i resect ur view brother - i gotta say i cannot agree with this speaking of a TRUE bornagain believer... Because it says that its impossible to renew them to repentance... so if its talking about a believer then its saying that they can lose their salvation and that contradicts the scriptures.... I would check commentaries such as the MacArthur or the Believers Bible commentary... I did a video on this my self... God bless and i pray u continue to grow as we all trust in Jesus....

  • Bless you... Though I personally believe that Hebrews 10:26-39 is a dreadful passage for believers.....(those who think we can do anything & will not be judged for it) In other words I do believe a believer can totally turn away from the faith & be judged as a unbeliever...

Though I have never heard this breakdown anywhere...I do totally acknowledge that it seems you have a keen concept of what it takes to breakdown passages while walking the plank of exegeting.

Send me the next vid Shalom

  • Excellent video and thoughts. It is obvious you know the material.
