@pcdocter123 Think of all the accident's of every dc 10's I remember. Doesn't matter how many of both there are. It matters of the safety and comfort those aircraft's provide. The dc 10 had a cargo door problem, It doesn't even have a way for pilots to control the dc 10 as of UAL 232. The l-1011 doesn't have many flaws, it's safety record goes WAY past the dc 10. Plus it has 4 hydraulics system compared to 3 in the dc 10. None of the accidents are related to the dc 10.

L-1011 Excellence in the Air ....DC-10 and MD-11 cant compare the security record the L-1-11 had only 3 L-1011 crash by human errors all 3 not by company mistakes unlike the DC-10 wich also shows crashes but by mistakes of fabrication....you dont beleve me ?....Japan Airlines in Indonesia cargo door not sealed ..grounded , American in Chicago Engine snaps from wing grounded to fix and United in Sioux City Hydrulical faliure grounded 3 times the L-1011 never grounded do the math

As a former Ramp Supervisor, I agree to the choice of the Lockheed L1011 which did not experience the mechanical problems associated with the earlier version of DouglasDC10, mainly in the design of the locking mechanism of the rear cargo door.

It took several mishaps before the problem was eventually corrected by placing a small window at the base of the door which displayed the locking pin in position

I would rather want to live in those Tristar L-1011 it would be feel much safer than DC-10!
