Don't think a sequel would've worked. Perhaps another Planescape game, telling the story of some new character, but the story of the Nameless One is over and done with.
After all, the entire point of the game was to 'end the cycle'. Would've been a meaningless ending if they just brought him back.
@Terralventhe it's not over at all. he picked up a mace at the end and joined the blood war. an awesome sewuel could be made in the sinister, bizarre world of tanar'ri and baatezu, perhaps a bit more battle orientated than ps:t. i know i would buy it in 1 second but sadly this whole planescape setting is not popular enough to make it worthy for interplay
@xaositectz If it were more battle oriented, then it just wouldn't be Planescape: Torment. Not to mention the fact that it would completely defeat the point of what the story was about in the first place -- that, eventually, all things must come to an end.
@Terralventhe of course it wouldn't be planescape torment- it would be planescape: blood war ;) Nameless One is a cool enough character for another game imo, his story didn't end when Transcendent One was finished- only a part of his story
anyway i'd love an other game in planescape setting even if him wasn't the protagonist. i'd love ignus' or morte's story for example
@xaositectz No, the story ended. Not part of it, not a chapter of it, but all of it. If you really couldn't comprehend something as simple as that, well.. I dunno, I guess you just didn't understand what the story was about.
@Terralventhe yeah obviously he merged with his mortality, and nothing exciting or misterious or intriquing can ever happen with him again, right? don't really see what you're about here but you know, as long as someone is fighting in a war with demons, there is a slight chance something exciting happens. ps:t is a good and complete game, but your comprehension is the failed one if you wanna prove something that NO couldn't possibly have other adventures
@Terralventhe yeah you're obviously a really special little one and you know deep inside your heart that nothing more could have happened to nameless one. oh wait, you're not and anything could. question: is it possible that awesome stuff happened to nameless one in the blood war? answer: HELL YES. you don't really have any reason against this. but keep telling yourself that you understand the story more than anyone else, if it makes your happy. let me gently pat you.
@xaositectz Again, you keep rambling on about the Blood War and what happens there, and ignoring the point I keep making: You didn't understand the point of the story. That doesn't mean I 'know more than anyone else'. It implies YOU know LESS than anyone else about the story.
What happened in the Blood War? He fought. That's it. Eventually, he gets overwhelmed. Or not. If he survives, he'll still be there. Sort of what 'eternal penance' implies. If you understood the story, you'd realize that.
@Terralventhe so someone who thinks nameless one in the blood war would make a great game = someone who doesn't understand the story of ps:t. okey, clear logics (not ;) see you, got a bit tired of arguing with a brick wall
@xaositectz Please explain to me how a game that was entirely and utterly story-driven, where conversations gave more experience than combat ever did 100% of the time, to the point that you needn't even fight a single enemy and still beat the game, where the story was the tale of a man seeking to finally end his eternal existence, to end his long, long story and finally accept his punishment and death.. how, exactly, would a 'HURR FIGHTAN GAEM' that needlessly carries on after this be 'great'?
@Terralventhe didn't say it should be a diablo 2; but it could be MORE combat oriented, like Baldur's gate 2. it's just my vision, you don't need to like it, it's simply how i could imagine a sequel- there could be a floating inn on a shard of a plane with all kinds of aliens in it, mercenaries and stuff, maybe one could choose to aid the tanar'ri or the batterzu for different stories and battles, maybe he could fall in love with a fall-from-grace-like character :) it's just an idea, why so srs
@xaositectz You do realize that the only people who 'get a break' during the Blood War are devils and demons, right? Damned souls like the Nameless One are condemned to fight eternally, die, then get spat out as mindless cannon fodder. That's why he was trying to avoid his fate in the first place: It's Hell without respite.
Not to mention, like I keep saying.. what point would there be when the entire point was to end his tale in the first place? It's the same bad idea as the Highlander sequel.
@Terralventhe well, the idea's point wouldn't be to be a perfect sequel; i can see what you mean, a good book or movie can be perfectly finished by itself and sometimes the sequels are annoying. but this is a game, and a setting that i, and many others like very much- would be awesome to play in the planescape world again- that blood war thing was just an idea, i'd love to play with nordom or annah or fall-from-grace or morte as protagonist too. just let me play more planescape games :)
@Terralventhe forgot to say, that in games, sometimes it's ok to put inconsistencies or such aside if they give more playing experience- that's my oppinoin at least, never really played in a game world that i liked as much as torment's so ofc i'd love to play more ;) if the same team would make the game with the same quality, i would gladly forget some logical flaws in the story and enjoy the game
@xaositectz See, I have no problem with making another Planescape game. I'm actually among those you speak of that would love to play another Planescape game if Black Isle still existed (sadly it went belly-up, but most of the staff moved on to form Obsidian instead). My only point was that the tale of the Nameless One is a done deal. Let the poor man rest in peace - or at least the best an eternity of conflict will allow.
It's an infinite Multiverse, after all. Plenty other tales to be told.
When you suddenly hear this music in your life. You've probably just really blown it hard.

shit, with his stats he'd probably live forever

Shame he went to the abyss. As soon as he dies once, his memories and body are destroyed and he is reborn as a low-class demon.
It's the end of his story.

The game was a hit. Shame there's no sequel... :( :/

@xaositectz how about annah or fall-from-grace had a son of the nameless one?
that'd be interesting, wonder if he would be born without a mortality, or if the boy and his mortality would be born as seperate entities
