Your all wrong, all the comments are saying this, 3 were made . . . 12 were ordered . . ., the truth! is that 15 was the first order, than 12, now 6, 3 have been made, the last type 45 will be in mid 2011 then the two super carriers will be nearlly ready then in 2015 they will be in service with the f-35`s on board, and by then the royal navy will be the most advanced in the world, with the type 45`s, the Astute Class Nuke sub fleet and the super carriers and aircraft.

Seriously, even when this ship finally gets Sea Viper (which could be several years away) it will still be grossly underarmed - just 48 anti-aircraft missiles, a gun and a chopper - in a huge 8,000 ton ship. Until then, it will have just the chopper and the gun - i.e. less capability than a World War II destroyer.
so this quote from the telegraph is incorrect:The new Type 45s will not have their full capability "until well into the next decade" which will result in the veteran Type 42 destroyers being "patched up and kept in service for longer" at a cost of almost £200 million despite having limited capabilities, it found.
They get their missiles next year. The next decade quote is just referring to new tech that is still in development. The ships will still be the world's finest AWDs without that tech. This is not the bad thing that the media try to imply!!!!!
dont listen to the papers i have a few mates in navy i am a rmc and i have a mate whos on hms daring and he said the ship is like no over he as bin on the tec is out of this world
its not a stealth class ship, it just as a specially designed hull to make it appear to be a small fishing vessel on radar and has a gas turbine engine back up to prevent noise when required
your half rite.. its not a true stelth ship like the swidish visby but is does have stealth features making its radar signature the size of a small boat as you mentioned
type 45's are air-defence destroyers the most advanced in the world there about 5000 tonnes displacement which is significantly bigger than our current type 42 destroyers
