The police were minutes away and had some people not attacked him(which would have been easier with a firearm), he would have gone on killing people. The police were not there...as they can't be everywhere. I have never had to draw my firearm for defense and hope to never have to. If you really believe more firearms increase crime, look at the crime rates of England after their gun ban and compare.
In the state I live in, there are very few firearm laws, most people have several guns, and it has some of the lowest crime in the nation. I have over a dozen firearms and the only one that was ever used on people was the M1 Garand that was used in WW2 and Korea. The reason crime is low is people know others are armed...someone who comes looking for trouble at my door is in for trouble. The most crime occurs in cities...perhaps we need control on population density, not firearms.

I live a mile from the police station and it's a six minute response time(I realize cops don't sit ready at the station to be called) but when seconds count, the police are only minutes away...

The police were minutes away and had some people not attacked him(which would have been easier with a firearm), he would have gone on killing people. The police were not there...as they can't be everywhere. I have never had to draw my firearm for defense and hope to never have to. If you really believe more firearms increase crime, look at the crime rates of England after their gun ban and compare.

In the state I live in, there are very few firearm laws, most people have several guns, and it has some of the lowest crime in the nation. I have over a dozen firearms and the only one that was ever used on people was the M1 Garand that was used in WW2 and Korea. The reason crime is low is people know others are armed...someone who comes looking for trouble at my door is in for trouble. The most crime occurs in cities...perhaps we need control on population density, not firearms.

Each American must contact their Congressman and Senator, in writing, asking them to initiate either a GAO or CRS review of the amount of effort and dollars being used to stop our 2nd Amendment gun ownership rights. Ask them if they will not do it, tell you in writing why they refuse. Keep after them until the respond. You need to do the same thing at the city/town, county and state level. Ask the politicians and candidates to make a similar federal request.

@yellavnroc You make some very good points. The pendulum of gun laws has lately swung to the favor of gun owners in the US. But only through the diligent and never-ending efforts of groups like the NRA. It can all be reversed if gun-owners don't stay diligent. The subject of this video, however, is not a fantasy. If left to their own wills, the folks being quoted would push for every restriction they could get away with and an international treaty would be an effective way to do it.

The reality is that fighting gun crime aggressively does not have to be inconsistent with the individual right to bear arms guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Even the National Rifle Association strongly supports increased mandatory sentencing for gun crimes. The common goal should be long-term crime control, not perpetuating paranoid fantasies for short-term political gain.

I do agree. Sometimes organizations such as the NRA get a little carried away. UN has no say here, they have no power here. I honestly havent seen any gun control law passed in a very long time. Its almost political suicide to even do it anymore since the majority of citizens know the truth of the 2nd amendment.

Considering that the UN is mainly ruled right now by dictators and other oppressors, with candy ass leaders backing them unwittingly, you know what sort of people back gun bans.
Such a treaty as this is unconstitutional, not only because it breaks the second amendment, but we do not make treaties to govern internal affairs, treaties are to govern external affairs and external affairs only, this is mandated by the constitution.
