I have a '08 Black R1 and guys...it's awesome ! Been riding it over 1yr now and love it. Though don't discount other bikes (for those considering their next bike). Recently bought my 2nd bike, a GSXR1000 K5 - Suzuki lightest/gruntiest ever made Gixxer thou. Both my bikes have 1 tooth off the front sprocket but I can swear the Gixxer pulls away more violently down low...oooh yeeeeah !!!!

@logopants i'm currently having driving lessons on a Honda CB600. And in my opinion it ain't dangerous or something, you really have to do you best to get it on the back wheel. I've been smashing around with the throttle a lot but never managed to do it. 1000cc might be more dangerously powerful i can imagine, but the danger lies in the high rpm's so it's all in your right hand. If you just want to drive calm&easy, drive at a low rpm.
