Hi! Hope you sell really well! The Leach wheel must be absolutly perfect to bring on markets. I found it very difficult to throw on an ordinary kickwheel, and since i only go to medieval markets the electric wheel is not suitable. Do you or your family in England sell leachwheels? /Lena
Great show S & C, I can really appreciate this as I have shown at many craft shows, taken the wheel and had wet pots to transport. It looks like you have a nice booth area.
When camping of course I work in a screen room most times, but I have also tried outdoor shows with only a screen room,
or at the Heritage Fair, four poles and a sheet of canvas. I can usually pick, to work or not up cmping, not at shows, many times we cling on to the tent and shelves for dear life.
How are the sales at craft markets in Spain. It's a hard sell here in Australia at times, our younger people have been bought up with the cheap and pretty imports displayed in our mega stores thus not placing any importance on hand crafted except for presents etc.
Sales are not that good ! but it gets one out there in the street where the people are, so some verbal interaction about ceramics takes place , & people get to know a bit more about handcrafted items. Basically the 'masses' are ignorant about pottery so its up to us to educate them a bit ! ...hence my vidclips here on YT. SL
we find shows are about half educating and half selling! maybe even more educating! 10 years of supporting ourselves in midwest usa, cutting stones and making jewelry. i agree with ajspanna that there is a turnaround - a re\jection of mass produced items with no soul. keep making your art, folks!
great video Simon, I do street shows also and
it is very surprising how little people know about pottery but enjoy taking the wheel and
talking to the public. am doing a gallery open
house this weekend and doing some demo work.
thanks for the good clips

Yup! When you want to buy something really nice for the table, you go to Country Road.
Cheers, Andrew.

I think/hope we'll see a reverse of this trend as boredom sets in with generic mass produced items. That's what I've seen amongst my peers at least.

It's nice to see more of your part of Spain Simon. I can't imagine it's easy transporting the kick wheel though?
