This is season 5, when a pally in full raid gear shouldn't be able to die. Plus a pally freedoms out of a stun, and any decent healer jukes the CS so he's only got a 4 second silence plus pallies have a talent that reduces silence duration.

Paladins can only freedom out of a stun if their deep in ret, and I doubt that the paladin in the video was holyret. Counterspell is an 8 second duration, negated by 30% still means an over 5 second silence.

And no, healers don't dispell everything, because in that case it would waste a GCD, which is pretty much the difference between life and death in this case.

I've had my own 80 mage since two weeks after wrath, and I know quite a few pallies who are terrible, but could quite easily outplay you any time.

As for the GCD, if you're a pally in S5, you could easily spare it since it was nearly impossible to kill almost all pallies. Plus in Season 5, a lot of pallies were Holy/Ret until Repentance got moved further down in the tree and Prot/Holy became the new OP spec of S6.
