  • Great funeral song. A dirge.

  • the best song i ,ve heard in my life

  • quanto fa male.........

  • When you're ready Leslie Ann Galloway, I'm here waiting for you.

  • Oh, MTV was for music?!

  • DADA IS DEAD

  • @DADAiseverywhere DADA is ALIVE

  • MR MARTIN CASEY

    MONSTER BASSMAN!

  • God, chills going all up and down my spine, goose bumps, all of it. Only half the beauty of this song is how it's played and how he sings it. The other half is the pure, unjaded sincerity in his voice. You don't even have to suspend any disbelief, you just know this shit's coming pure and direct right from his soul. Amazing, absolutely amazing.

  • Poss the greatest song of all time.It melts your heart, breathtakingly brilliant

  • Beautifull...This one is for you Travis, in loving memory 1971 - 2011.

  • So Beautiful. But I have always found the word hard to sing along with as I do believe in God and I hate singing I don't believe in an interventionist GOD because I do. He intervenes for us and others when we pray according to his will. I have had 98% of my many prayers over the years answered exactly as i prayed them. Wasn't easy. But they were answered. Some took a very long time. HAD TO PRAY bigger matters through.

  • @CeliaDWarrior I'm an atheist and I love to sing this song :D

  • @CeliaDWarrior so you statistically analysed your prayer:answer ratio & came up with 98%? please...& if he/she is an interventionist god, then why the hell did he/she let the tsunami/volcano/bushfires/poverty/war/murders kill millions of people? including 'believers' like yourself?! religion is sooo out-dated it makes me laugh...please wake up, just like Nick Cave did...

  • Too Beautiful for words.

  • Christopher Robin...... It was always you

  • Gettin' Square, excellent film, excellent sound track. Nick Class.

  • LOVE IT!

  • Times when MTV wasn't full of shit.

  • ♥ ღ

  • One of the few love songs I actually like, and boy does it make me grin like an idiot.

  • So profound and intimate.... just gorgeous words and music... one of my favourite songs ever, makes me feel so held and warm everytime I hear it, thank you nick!

  • A great song writter, almost up their with Mr Paul Kelly. Another great artist..

  • This might very well be the ultimate love song. "I don't believe in an interventionist God. But I know that you do". Essentially he is willing to put his beliefs aside to be with a woman. Sums up everything I feel right now for a girl. It's amazing the power of a few chords and a few choice words can have...

  • @HAADOOKEN ; a noble and beautiful comment my friend, a journey of the brave and your God shall walk beside you forever.

  • makes me cry but i love it so very very much. Nick you are my hero.

  • This song is the epitome of inherent yearning. It's just absolutely beautiful and a work of art. There are just no artists akin to this man.

  • Nick Cave was addicted to Heroin in his late teens throughout his 20's when his father was killed in an automobile accident. But regardless, I do not believe that this song is about Heroin.

This is off the album "The Boatman's Call", which was written in memoir entirely to the breakup between him and P.J. Harvey (Not saying that they are solely about that, but that is what it pertains to).

  • This has better lyrics than Rebecca´s Black Friday

  • whenever I hear this as its going into the chorus its like its a realization. That pause hes trying to find something to say and it comes to him like a epiphany it just seems like its "ah...Into my arms" and in that way I get a sense of enjoyment as it goes into the chorus no matter how many times I hear it. he repeats it so its as if it comforts him...........so much can be read into this song I love it

  • <3

  • SUper pesma. :DDD

  • <3

  • @koverm cave is too simple to write a love song to heroin. it's a simple love song with some religious imagery and overtones.

  • beautiful!

  • @donkeypoopoo actually it was about how he wished his ex, PJ Harvey, would come back 'into his arms'

  • ..tocca il cuore

  • I know people associate this with sadness but he actually wrote it about the joy of his little boy.

  • Yes, this is a great song especially after a half a bottle of Cointreau...

  • F.ck you Nick Cave . You made me cry .

  • gen ius xxx

  • God I wish I lived that time MTV played good music. Now they just play shitty pop music all the time :(

  • @AsiaFanNR1

    I know. I turned to VH1 ;)

  • does anyone know how I get "nick cave - i put a spell on you" ?

  • @MissStaleyHere mediafire/?5qyumbifsh4 ?

  • awww bless he didn't know what to say in the interview at the start lol.

    I love this song <3

  • we broke up today... sadness... absurdity...

  • I would sing this song to my girlfriend every night as she was going to sleep. Now I just hope the words are some kind of prayer that God can hear and answer for me because she has broken up with me over something so small. I want her back so bad it hurts. I love her.

  • such a beautiful song! I heard it in a movie the other day - the movie sucked, but this song is just awesome!!

  • Nick Cave is an absolute legend of a man, this song is so epic in more ways than one!!! great, artist, muscisian and even movie writer!!! fuck yeah cave and the badseeds forever!!!!

  • such a great song, a friend of mine asked me earlier if i had any thoughts on what song she could play for the first dance at her wedding.. for me this is the perfect song. I dont believe anyone has ever put into song the love one man can have for a woman as briliantly as Nick Cave has done in this song.

  • i agree, with every year of my life i love him more and understand more about his feelings

  • very talented man. i haven't really heard much of his work but that song is genius

  • He's a genius, and the older i get the better he sounds ;)

  • beautiful!

  • love the song.. amazing.. :*

  • And I believe in some kind of path that we can walk down, me and you.

too beautiful, I don't remember ever hearing something so... art and skies and spring and knee high grass...

  • thank you for uploading this!!it's simply great!!

  • Angel

  • I cant help but cry in happiness when i hear this song becasue nothing i have ever experienced in this world could ever describe the beauty and joy that comes with hearing these lyrics

  • @Gdev02 respect

  • @Gdev02 you might want to look at the lyrics again, and think about heroin use/addiction. interpretation is free of course, but look at it:

So keep your candle burning/And make her journey bright and pure --> cooking the heroin with a candle

Into my arms --> the injection itself

That she will keep returning/Always and evermore --> the addiction itself...

he has been addicted for several years, and it wouldn't be the only song he wrote about it...

but hey, I like to think it's about love too :)

  • @koverm

I'm sorry but I speak for most people here when I respectfully disagree with your interpretation. It is simply a love ditty about a girl with different beliefs to him. He wrote it in a church in Surrey. But if the song means that to you, feel free to enjoy it in your way.

  • @koverm I love your interpretation of this song. I'm an old girl and heard this song as differences in theological beliefs. Last year, nearly to the date, I had the misfortune of being advised that my 19 year old daughter was terminally ill (a "thankful" mishap of mental health) & every time I heard this song after that, it became a song of tribute after death. But the heroin additction now strikes a chord...

  • @koverm a perfectly logical ,on the surface, dissection of the lyrics. But in reality you are taking a beautiful love song and cheapening it into a piece of trash...... you fail because 99% of the viewers disagree with you as do I.Personally I think your reading of it is almost perverse

  • @61lcp perverse, and cheapening... listen to Heroin by Velvet Underground... Why would a song about something like that be bad... Cave has been a hardcore drug addict for 15 years so I don't think it's impossible. I'm not promoting heroin but if you hear about it in songs, movies and other media it's possible that addicts have such connection with their drug, it becomes their muse. So why would I fail with this interpretation...

  • @koverm Listen to Heroin by The Velvet Underground....Dude I was alive when it was released! You go back and listen to "Heroin",a great Lou Reed song in my opinion, and then sign back on and show me how musically, emphasis MUSICALLY, it relates to Cave's song of loss and yearning for reconciliation.Reed ...yearning for the fix, elation at the score, the rush as the drug floods his veins, the anguish of the short ride, time to get back in line to buy another ticket for the rollercoaster ride, yet again

  • @61lcp I do understand what you see in this song because I see it too, it's the song that played the moment I realised I loved my gf of three years already so I assure you it has this romantic meaning to me too... but still I think it can be looked at from different angles... and isn't that what makes Nick Cave such a good writer? Sorry for not being alive when it was released by the way... but I do have both songs on vinyl so I can turn out my laptop and pretend it's still the seventies

  • @Gdev02 a beautiful state described beautifully! thanks!

  • @Gdev02 Your grand dad must have been a great bloke to have had this played at his last party, mate.

  • Xd quiero verlo en vivo ...!!!!

  • GOD he has a sexy voice

  • the lyrics are extremely good, speachless !!

  • incredibly touching

  • who cares about anything when there is shit this good in the world

  • Fuck this motherfucker he makes it so fucking hard to listen to his music. I just can't believe how good he is. Why does some cunt like Katy Perry get to be on the Grammys on not Nick? Oh yeah well I guess he didn't want to play with someone like the Jonas Bros.

Man this is so hard to listen to Nick is so intense even in slow songs or weather its the Birthday Party. He's just pushing it all the time.
