  • David Bowie has such an adorable laugh <3

  • I am amazed with the tricks they used to control the puppets. This is genuine creativity in cinema. I love all movies directed by Jim Henson, but this is my favourite, for the presence of David Bowie . So few directors keep on working this way...Ridley Scott is an example.

But the mayority use digital effects, that does not deserve any ovation, from my point of view.

  • 3:23 LOL

  • is that really the brilliant python terry jone?!

  • Lol at 7:21-7:24

  • I'd love to be Jennifer Connelly.

  • I wish I were her...

    I am SO jealous

  • 3:24 LOL

  • 5:16 LMAO!

  • @pedroziese what happens at 5:16??

  • @xBabySmilezz143 Pause and watch Jennifer Connelly's expression.

  • Why don't they make movie's like this anymore?!?

  • Well, the answer as to why they didn't kiss has come about. That would have had so many lawsuits....

  • @ApologizeLovely: Feh. If Tim Burton got away with Beetlejuice/Lydia, surely Jareth/Sarah should've happened in the definitely much tamer, Labyrinth. The book series Artemis Fowl has the opposite in a way, with teen genius/former criminal mastermind, Artemis & elfin LEP officer, Holly.

  • @TherealRNO I'm not a Arty/Holly shipper...If they were closer in age equivalent, sure but since her human age is like....2something and he's 15 or something now, it's just so gross.

    Artemis/Juliet

  • @ApologizeLovely: Well, Orion cements A/H for mw. That & over the course of their time together, both of them felt Stockholm Syndrome. Plus, in fiction, age rarely matters (BJ/Lyds [moviee & TV show canon], Aang/Katara [TV series canon with Aang technically being 112], Slade/Terra [Titans' 80s source comics canon], Frankie/Mac [represented in reality through Foster's creator Craig McCracken as Mac & his wife in MLP: FiM's Lauren Faust as the inspiration for Frankie], etc.).

  • @TherealRNO You misunderstand. I mean emotional age difference. Aang and Katara worked because technically they were still at the same level of maturity and growing up.

  • @ApologizeLovely: In terms of these pairs I listed, they're all on the same page emotionally, even despite the age gap, because most of them can tell what their partner is thinking.

  • @TherealRNO That was a one-time thing, and she was essentially "drunk" at the time!

*shouts the embarrassed fangirl who is in complete denial* ;)

Besides, they seemed at one point to be setting up a Mary-Sue of some sort for him.

  • If she was drunk, so was Arty, since the time-travelling affected both of them. In fact, because of his tampering with magic, Arty might as well be part fairy now, especially since he & Holly have switched eyes & Orion was a result of both The Atlantis Complex & from his average teen hormones from years of being with Holly, both as foe & friend. Yes, Minerva was a Mary Sue, but since she's only in 1 book, she's also a one-shot character.

  • Plus, in fiction, best friends--who may even begin as enemies--usually get together if they're the opposite sex (and even sometimes, if they're the same sex, like Uranus & Neptune in Sailor Moon).

  • I am insanely jealous of Jennifer Connelly.

  • @PoutingXEvoke Me2! -.-

  • They pulled this off in 1986; wow

  • she's very mature looking for 14...she looks older than me at 16, especially all dressed up in the ball scene o.O

  • everything about this movie is epic. it's done entirely with puppets (by jim henson, nonetheless!), you've got david bowie as the villian (in tights, hells yeah), and best of all, terry jones wrote it (former monty python member and a brilliant comedian). this movie's excellent in every way.

  • THIS MOVIE IS SO MAGICAL I WISH THE INDUSTRY WOULD DO MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS ONE...BECAUSE IT TAKES U AWAY TO A SUBREAL JOURNEY...WHAT CAN I SAY ..I lOVE SYFY

  • 7:53 um is he alright?? :p

  • OMG she was fourteen??! i thought she was like twenty, she looks so mature!!! i am insanely jealous!!!

  • 14 years old? pffft...I could of been sarah...

  • I like how, around 6:15, David stumbles while dancing. He's so adorable!

  • Comment removed

  • 3:23 I fell off my chair>_< so funny that big head just popping out

  • She was MY AGE and got to dance with David Bowie!?!! I wish I was her.

  • I wanna dance with David Bowie damnit!!

  • That worm is quite adorable.

  • damn, i love movies with puppets!! i kn that they dont look as real as digital stuff, but it just seems that movies with puppets are just more magical or somethin....

  • I love those eye plants; they're so creepy, but kind of cute.

  • oh nooo lol Im 14 and my name is Sarah so its easy to imagine..well..you knwo. but still when he said she was beautiful i screetched

  • I think Jareth forgets she's only fourteen as well lol

  • the worm is creepishly cute

  • Man that looked like a lot of fun... I hate my job.

  • I would love to have a set piece from this film in my house.

  • She was only 14!?!?!?! O_O

  • You know, I would watch HOURS of this movie, everything that was ever filmed, I don't care, I'd watch it ALL!

  • When Bowie starts talking about Jennifer... I'm jelous in a good way... and I think God he's so serious... then the ball scene... o.o O.O and David trips... lololololololol

    Buahahahaha :D

  • holy fuck. high praise coming from fucking david bowie! i think id faint and go into a coma if he uttered such lovely words about me!!

  • 7:10 XD lol

  • the guy at 7.33 directing the puppet hes wearing black with glasses... yeah he looks like cliff richard back in the day :')

  • That little worm is adorable!! I want it!!!!

  • she was 14??? she looks like 16 + =/

  • 2 people don't deserve to dance with Jareth

  • Put labyrinth masquerade on your search bar...I just discovered it a few weeks ago...looks fun and interesting it takes place in LA, California every year...they don't have the 2011 date.

  • @mmsjuli July 1st and 2nd. It looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.

  • @goanna92 You welcome it does look amazing I want to go but no one else wants to go with me

  • @mmsjuli I would! But you know...I'm in Australia and I can't afford to fly to America. I have film school.

  • The special effects were awesome for that time how did this movie bomb at the box office...it has so many fans today there is even an event called The Labyrinth of Jareth with a masquerade ball every year

  • @mmsjuli Where?

  • This movie was art. Movies today are computer generated. I prefer art.

  • Terry Jones is so cute.

  • Even at 14 i'd have jump him :3

  • I would of loved to create all the goblins..I work in retail and I'd have so much inspiration from all the stupid people I'm surrounded by everyday lol

  • It's amazing how flawlessly the puppet makers capture Brian Froud's drawings!

If only fantasy movies could be made with this sort of imagination again...

  • terry jone's sweater is HIDEOUS!

  • its a shame that the puppets and animatronics have vanished from movies. i think a movie like this wouldnt have been as good if they used all computer like they would today.

  • @timmy47 Timeless movies don't rely on CGI, which is WAY overused now. I feel like there really isn't any creativity in movies anymore, because no one has to think of creative ways to get the shots. Everyone just uses a computer. For example, in The Wizard of Oz, they had to make the colorful sets. For the new Alice in Wonderland, they didn't even bother really making the sets. It was just a green screen movie, which broke my heart. Gone are the days of Jurassic Park and Labyrinth =[

  • @FallenEmbyr

Ironic statement, as Jurassic Park used extensively CGI. It's true that CGI allows to do things easier and for less money, but it's not fair to blame the computer for poor cinema. There's been both great and awful films throughout the history of cinema, only the good are remembered. A counter-example would be Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings which had no computer graphics and stank to high heavens, where PJ's version used CGI along with traditional effects to excellent results.

  • @KarriKoivusalo First, I was talking about the animatronics in Jurassic Park, not the CGI.

Second, I'm not blaming CGI for crappy movies, I'm saying that when CGI wasn't availiable or used as commonly as it is now, people had to be more creative when coming up with effects and sets. Now, it's mostly done on a computer.

  • @FallenEmbyr

First off, you're saying timeless movies do not rely on CGI, while Jurassic Park did. despite animatronics, it couldn't have worked without CGI. I suggest watching "The Rift", CGI-less rip-off of Abyss (which on the other hand DID have CGI and is most certainly a classic). That waste of celluloid had none of the virtues attributed to non-use of computers. It was boring, uninspired piece of trash. Many films are. Only the classics are remembered. Like the CGI classic Jurassic park.

  • Aww when they dance and he trips and they laugh, too cute!

  • its kind of a shame no one does puppetry anymore its all CG such a good effect

  • @SaraSohma7 in fact, Coraline for example is completely stop motion. not puppets though, but same perfection in phantasy ^^

  • omg my age i thourght she was about around 18 i mean she looks like it but wow

  • man she was fourteen, she could have at least passed for 16 or 17.

  • She was fourteen, and she was THAT CLOSE to David Bowie? How did she control herself?

  • @skylardanks I myself am fourteen and I now for sure I wouldn't be able to control my self at all around him.

"Alright we're going to do the dance scene now"

    Me: swoooon

  • jim henson , the best

  • 0:40 did he actually use drugs to create this ,or probably his imagination..some people use drugs to actually create an incredible type of design

  • that worm is the cutest thing ever

  • I love the lil worm!!!!! Brian Froud is a brilliant man!!!!!

  • Jennifer Connelly was my first crush :3

  • i got to meet the guy at 1:32 when they releast labyrinth in oneof the movie theaters in my city!!!

  • love the movie and ya he called her beautiful? im jelous XP

  • Wooww, watching this makes me have so much respect for what they did in this movie

They went through a lot of work! hollyy crap!

  • The Fireys (or Fire Gang) is an example of how they had to do things before CGI really took off. It's pretty amazing how ingenious they could be.

  • I t looks like they had a BLAST making this movie! This is what hands-on fun is all about. and then came computers to ruin the mood...dangit...

  • 6:13 is my favorite part!!!! :D lolz to the maxxxx. XD

  • @faithgal101 Me too, and when they trip, LMAO, that's classic.

  • Wow she looks at least 16, David Bowie is right, she seems very mature ...

  • Yeah, she didn't look fourteen XD I thought she was seventeen or something when she auditioned. lol I remember watching Jennifer Connelly's audition video and when they asked how old she was, she answered "fourteen." I was like "HOLY SHIT!" lol

  • @xXCandyxCarnivalXx o.o where can i find this audition video?

  • @valluco23 ... they posted it on the Anniversary edition DVD of the Labyrinth. It had two disks in it; one for the movie and the other for behind the scenes of the set. It isn't much, it's just her talking about herself and them asking her questions and it's a short clip.

  • @xXCandyxCarnivalXx Is it on youtube??

  • @VAMPIRICROCKSTAR O_x?! I don't know!! Probably not because hardly anyone got their hands on the anniversary edition...

  • 6:21 loll

  • lmao caught me off guard

  • 4:37 thats what she said

    lol wtf a carpenter?

omg even off screen bowie has the funny eyebrows

  • @1:09 Eww Gross @3:26 wow @3:31I think I just fell in love with Jennifer Connelly .

  • i watched Labrynth in the theatre and probably 3or 4 times a year for the last 20.I love any chance to look at bowie in makeup...lol

  • The lichen is fantastic. *u* I want some of that growing over my door please.

  • ''nah, just a worm" lol

  • i laughed so much when they tripped over in that dancing scene! lol

  • 3:11 Its Harry Potter!

  • you know, since they've done avenue q with puppets, i wonder if they could bring this to broadway the same way. that would be pretty cool...

  • Lol. I miss when movies used to be made like this, and we didn't have computers do all the work. You could tell the cast had more fun and more hands-on involvement.

  • 6:21 someone left the banana peel on the floor... LOL they should've shown the bloopers during the credits!

  • 3:25

    Oh no! A giant head!

  • i think david like sarah xD 5:48 lol

  • @drawingdream Hey, I agree with him. She was really "quite beautiful" at a young age.

  • that must have been a blast making the movie.

  • OMG. In 6:10 I would DIE to be Sarah.

I would literally sell my soul xP

  • I hear ya ;P

  • are there any other extras from the movie on youtube? Like deleted scenes, out takes, and other behind the scenes clips?

  • I'm wondering that, as well. My cousin had this movie on VHS, and this is what was on there {Inside the Labyrinth}, but I still wonder if there's more.

  • this is a great movie ^^

  • Dancing....dancing...TRIP!! lol

  • That little dancing blooper was so cute! XD

  • Oh my goodness, The WORM, how cute!!!..they did such great movie so we could get in love with it.

  • 6:45 An average day at work, right? ;)

Seriously, this studio looks like the coolest place to work.

  • rip jim...best of the best

  • my fav movie u guys made the best movie

  • 7:51 -----> uhuahauahauhauahauhauahauh

  • such a young supple Jennifer..

  • "Did you just say hello?.." "No I said ello, but that's close enough."

"You don't by any chance know the way through this labyrinth do you?"

"Who me? No I'm just a worm."

God that part is funny x)

  • @SailorMoon2574 "Why don'cha come inside? Meet the Missus?" XDD

  • Wow she was my same age (well, I'm not 14 yet...in a month ;-P) and she could work with David Bowie!!! Uff, that's so unfair, I'm envious :(

  • @61MONICA "Unfair" We say that so often... BUT WE DO HAVE A BASIS OF COMPARISON!!

  • @61MONICA It's awesome that this film has fans as young as you. I saw it when it first came out on vhs. I remember seeing the vhs box in the video store for the first time. Since then it's never left me.

  • thank you for the video <3

  • so i'm not the only crazy!!!

    defly, i really think!!

D.Bowie and Jennifer Connelly have a crush! i really think this.. when they dance down the same step and she sticks her tongue out and smiles playfully.

and when she is in the practice (ballroom scene) dancing with david,David talks to her and she blushees

  • Ha beeing your own horse -err ... riding dino ^^

  • What a great effort to make film. Good old times without CGI! Wow is the worm puppet tiny!!

  • omg she is soo lucky lucky:DD

  • God, I wish I had the opportunity to work so closely with David. He's splendiferous. I've always wanted to be in The Man Who Fell to Earth.

  • HAHAH! Like every couple of days,

David: So Jenny, you 18 yet?

    Jennifer: No.

    David: *walks away*

LOL (guess where that came from)

  • LOL. Yeah and I think she had a crush on him... when they're dancing and he trips down a step and he's laughing. She just kind of gazes at him and another when they dance down the same step and she sticks her tongue out and smiles playfully. I've also seen a behind the scene photo where she's leaning her head on his shoulder while Jim Henson directs them. Too bad they weren't the same age... could've been nice.

  • She went from being a beautiful girl to becoming a beautiful woman.

  • She didn't want to be an actress BEFORE. She voluntarily auditioned for this film, which means that she wanted to get the part.

I do agree with your thoughts on the worm though... I really didn't think he was that small.

  • yes DIVID BOWIE is hot!!!!!!!!

  • lol! I couldn't stop giggling when Bowiet ripped while he was dancing with Connelly.

  • TERRY JONES?! Woah I never knew. No wonder the whole movie was so trippy :D

  • Wow Jennifer Connelly is so lucky! DAVID BOWIE said that she is beautiful, she's a great actress, she's mature, she's a pleasure to work with! I would be so happy if he could say that about me. haha lots of people would.

And when David falls when he's dancing, and laughes, that is so cute!

  • awesome creative talent on work, this movie was the reason i hate nowadays CG work, it can never capture the magic of original manual puppetwork like in this movie, thanks for upload

  • never knew she was 14. I thought she was 16 or 18.

  • I love this film so much! David Bowie rocks!

  • I love this film, Definatly my favourite, Aw i wish i was playing Sarah, and he felld over during the dancing (: Love it, Love David Bowie, and the Goblin King!

  • THE best movie ever made!!!

  • She was only 14? Wow!

  • she was sixteen when the film was made

  • butbowie said in this video she was 14 no 16

  • Yeah but I think she was 15... She was born Dec 12th 1970 and the film was shot in 1985. So I guess 14 going on 15 lol.

  • wow. Jennifer Connelly was called beautiful by David Bowie! talk about a compliment!

  • @togio100 Lucky hoe. xD she is very pretty though. but man to say, "Oh i worked with david bowie, and he called me beautiful" Damn id die happy. xD

  • @togio100 ur tellin me!I get that from my family and the guys that like me,but it would be a honor to be called beautiful by David!
