the Fenians actually made the Canadians retreat because the Canadians mistook scouts for cavalry so they formed a square formation to counter calvary, and the Fenians lost 6 men and 10 wounded while the Canadians lost 30 men and 100 wounded..but good thing the canadians retreated because they wouldve been massacred, they only had skirmishing groups at the front, their main force behind them hidden waiting for the skirmishers to bring the canadians back, then they wouldve been ambushed and killed

I love that part of our province. Fort Erie is by far my favourite old fort in southern Ontario. But those Fenians are a darned nuisnace! Thank goodness they only come to YouTube Meetups nowadays. :)

Actually, while my ancestors are all British, I have always been in favour of full independance for Ireland. Of course that is easy for me to say, I live here. It would be nice if the British in the North were offered generous repatriation packages to start over in Britain, and for those who wanted to stay on, it would be nice if they could just decide to love a unified Ireland and move forward from there.

its sorta why the IRA mostly disbanded and gave up their weapons. They have a much stronger political influence through peaceful means now that violent actions arent needed anymore.

basically if they can get the majority vote (mostly dependent on the catholic population) they can get Ireland. and the population in support of this is growing so killing ppl isnt needed. thx god.

@TomBarry192I Although Britain is far from breaking up,I think it's great that you recognise that the majority of us are in favour of a united Ireland, and have been for many years to my knowledge!..especially for ppl those of us w/ Irish ancestry!

It's just that the 'political' elements have always gotten in the way, and many Brits lost sympathy/empathy for the cause when the bombing started.

I just wish that partition hadn't taken place. Still, we've all got to play the hand we've been dealt.

I find it funny though that the Brits who are aggressively against Irish independence hate everything about the Irish ppl and their country. lol its like then let them have it if you dont want it. but no, those aggressive loyalist terrorist groups are just too stupid to let it go.
