Seriously though... why the hell is the Spurs court baby blue? That wasn't a longtime color either, one or two seasons earlier it was white. Not even sure about before that.
there are a few things i remember about this game guys..1)at one point in the game the spurs had 6 players on the floor and sir charles was naming each player 1 by 1 to a referee who was ignoring him.2) david robinson put his hand in the cylinder and knocked out a suns bucket NO GOALTENDING CALL!! and 3) sir charles sized the admiral up and sent san antonio fishing!!!! lol
Hey Charles Barkley, you just hit the Second round series game-7 winning shot over David Robinson to advance to the 1993 Western Confernece Finals, so what u gonna do????
ANSWER: Celebrate "excessively" by running across the court like a fool, so my teamate can jump in my arms like we won the Larry O'Brien trophy!!!
@KiPwnNubs yea Tim Duncan can't do shit... except lead his team to 4 nba titles, capture back to back MVPs, and become the only player in NBA history to make the all NBA and the all NBA defensive team his first 13 seasons in the NBA. You should actually know what your talking about before making rediculous statements.
@BowlesI i looked @ it closely. c. barklay is not tossing the ball. he's spinning it w/o leaving his hands. lots of rules have changed in the NBA these past 40 yrs. ****
Chuck's legacy will live on due to both his play and his antics off the court. Without question, he's the greatest 'soundbyte athlete' to EVER be present post-game. An unbelievably intelligent interview, he's not afraid to speak his mind & he is totally compelling. Charles will always be the most entertaining athlete to both watch play basketball, & then to listen to him speak on the game, then country, world & always JOKE about anything, PARTICULARLY HIMSELF.
Chuck is the Greatest Powerforward Ever in my Opinion be it with or without championships, short or tall for a PF, overweight or on ideal weight to play. I`ve Never Seen a Player Impact the Game SINGLE HANDEDLY More than a PRIME Barkley before 1995. His dam back and knee injuries made his game decline after that year so many people never saw THE REAL CHARLES!. Before 1995 people where afraid to even look at him directly & was the most sure and unstoppable 2-Points untill the arrival of Shaq!
@AceroySangre Tim Duncan is the greatest power forward ever hands down, Barkley is spectacular and one of my favorite all-time greats but Duncan has the best post game and 15 ft. shot of all time, not only that but he has the leadership and determination to lead his team to 4 nba titles.
@AceroySangre chuck was never the same after the 1993 finals! though he was still a hell of a player until his first year with the rockets. in his prime from 1987 to 1993 he was the best power forward!
@AceroySangre Barkley was just about indefensible down low but I don't think you can call him the greatest power forward ever cause you didn't really have to worry about him when he wasn't on the block and he wasn't a great defender. He was an amazing rebounder but the fact that KG and Duncan were better overall defenders makes me give them the nod over him.
Lastly, Be it MJ or Olajuwon... The Bulls in 93 or the Rockets-well honestly it seems like to their credit, it was the Rockets every single fucking other year. Charles' measure of greatness isn't his or the Suns lack of a Championship. It was Chuck's brilliance to not only be so damn exciting and entertaining. but his passionate play which was infectious at seemingly all times. Cause when he was spectacular,as in this vid,HOLY SHIT WOW.
I grew up watching Barkley in the '80s & '90s--the heyday of the NBA & incidentally the heyday of the WWF as well. When Barkley got on a tear it was like watching Hulk Hogan go purple faced & Hulk-out.
"Whatcha gonna do When Barkleymania comes down on you."
Me, I'd just get out of the way. Survival instincts are powerful in the human species... ;)
He reminds me of 2 other athletes that in their prime were unstoppable. Earl Campbell and fellow Auburn alum, 2 sport God Bo Jackson.
Yet Chuck had one major difference out of the 3 however:While Earl and Bo were the epitome of pro athletes-in physical appearance, training regimen & diet, Charles was (in his own words)"a fat ass." Barely 6'4.5, was often seen anywhere but the gym, & constantly battling his weight.
But that is what made Chuck a physical anomaly. A freak of nature. But that doesn't mean he didn't practice (though not all the time). His prowess on both ends of the court wasn't just God given ability, he earned it on the court when everyone else was gone.
BUT YES, CHARLES NEVER WON A RING. He certainly wanted one terribly. Yet most conveniently forget when discuss CB's career not only did he play against the MJ-"the greatest." He had a team that suited him & his talents perfectly, which helped him win so many rings. Pippen, Grant, Kukoc, even Kerr as well as coach Phil Jackson and, & of course, the Suns crucifier- John Paxton.
But as much as Chuck wanted to win, if it wasn't MJ it was another phenom, Hakeem Olajuwon.
I always liked Reggie Miller,he was a great player, but its no wonder he got into so many fights, just look at those ears, you know people dogged him out in school/college,wherever.
Reggie is forgeting that Charles Barkley was so unstoppable in the late 80s and early 90s Between 1993 and 1994 Charles had to be guarded by centers sometimes. 7´1 and a half ft David Robinson had to leave his center to guard 6´4 and 5/8 ft Charles Barkley!. Result= OWNED
Suns withouth Barkley had no Frontline and defensive players only good shooters and a good passer in K.J. Chuck made this team a competitor due to his complete game and enormous passion. He changed their mentallity to become more agressive and fight like a warrior to win. Thats all about Chucks game: PASSION AND BALLS!
When Barkley was focused, he was a ferocious warrior. The other half of the time, he was a clown and a jokester, sort of like he is on TNT these days. Barkley did give the Suns a dominant rebounder and low-post scorer and he nearly fleshed out the team, except that he was often a defensive liability and a worse defender than the front-court players that the Suns had dealt for him (Tim Perry and Andrew Lang). The Suns actually became a worse defensive team after the Barkley trade.
And in the 1994 and 1995 playoffs, his focus wavered and he faded badly (for instance, in the second halves of the last five games of the '95 playoffs against Houston, Barkley averaged just 5.6 points). Still, he did bring a much-needed physical presence to Phoenix and a dose of power to a team previously defined by speed and finesse.
Greatest Powerforward when fit and in his prime. He did not have Pippen, Stockton, Robinson, Shaq, Kobe or Robinson to win titles...he had average players but he had the balls and the game of the Greats, especially in the Play-offs!!!!
Average players? Over the four seasons prior to Barkley's arrival in Phoenix from 1989-1992, the Suns were the only team in the NBA to win at least 53 regular season games in each of those years. Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, and Tom Chambers were all on the 1993 Suns with Barkley, but they actually played together in more Western Conference Finals without Sir Charles (1989, 1990) than they did with him (1993).
All told, Barkley played with five past, present, and/or future All-Stars on the '93 Suns (K.J., Majerle, Chambers, Danny Ainge, and Cedric Ceballos), plus two rookies (Richard Dumas and Oliver Miller) who perhaps could have become All-Star had it not been for their addictions to drugs and food, respectively.
All that said, this shot by Barkley was arguably constituted best moment of his career and one of the best in the history of the Suns.
Also keep in mind that K.J. started the 1991 All-Star Game and that K.J. and Majerle were members of Dream Team II in 1994. Barkley had average players around him in 1992 in Philadelphia, and as a result, he didn't make the playoffs that year.
Is it just me or does Charles get away with traveling TWICE on this play. Look quickly right at the beginning... he throws the ball up in the air twice as if he's preparing to shoot a free throw.
They're Champions because of Duncan. Match Duncan with Barkley when Sir Charles was IN HIS PRIME.. and guarantee, Sir Charles would GET HIM EVERY TIME

The only time that the Spurs lost to Suns. No way I could see that happening now unless Phoenix gets an incredible trade.
Reggie Miller is right though I think that they made a huge mistake leaving all that room to set up. They should have ran at him.
