i am a student studying the boer war for a level history we should emphaisze the word HISTORY it is the past and we should not dwell on this but just understand what was done wrong and right. There is no need to b racist, but i must admit, many of Britain was being ruled by greedy bastards that led to such a war, although this type of ruling is being repeated not by only the britch but by many other rulers present in africa and many other nations and countries. The book entitled: Colonial South Africa & the Origin of the Racial Order notes on page 35 & 36 that the racial attitudes started with the British & that the Boers were often in alliances with some local tribes. This fact is important to consider because of all the misplaced hatred against the Boers for actions which were implemented by other groups like the British & the Cape based Afrikaners. The Boers are often unjustly blamed when they were ALSO under Apartheid & dominated.

No china ! I wish people knew history a bit better. There were 3 groups of white people in South Africa -the Boers, the Afrikaaners & the English.
Mostly the Boers were from German decent & they wanted their own land where they could govern themselves, independantly.
The Afrikaaners were the Cape Dutch and didnt mind being under Brittish rule, which is why alot of Afrikaaners fought against the Boers. When the Boers lost the Boer republics after the war, the union of South Africa was formed.

No. Most Afrikaans people were not Boers because most Afrikaans people are descended from the Cape Dutch while only a about 37 % are descended from the Boers. I notice that a lot of people often erroneously presume that all of the Afrikaans people were from the Boers but this presumption is due entirely to the fact that the Afrikaners STOLE or usurped the Boers' history when they formulated Afrikaner Nationalism as a means to "unite" the Afrikaans speakers & take control of as a new government.

I listened to a talk by this guy, Kenneth Griffith, about ten years ago (he died a year ago if I recall). He was passionately anti-British Empire to a sickening degree, wanting us out of Ireland too. He cannot necessearily be relied upon to be impartial.
