It's all very... metaphorical. This film is EPIC. makes me cry at the end every time. and the music.omg. the MUSIC. The music MAKES this film. I don't think I will ever tire of watching this one...

I may have missed it, but is it in Clu's programming that he can't kill Flynn himself? Instead of killing him with the disc, he throws it into the floor, then ultimately fails reaching the portal because of Flynn. He also has plenty of time to kill Flynn during the coup, but knocks him over and then just walks towards him. Or is it that Flynn's disc won't work with the portal if he's killed?

That's how Flynn was able to trick CLU into going after him just before the bridge separated, because CLU thought Flynn still had his disk when he actually had given it to Quorra earlier. Sam's original plan was to do just what you commented on, to leave the grid, and delete CLU from the outside.
How it should have ended: at 2:45 Sam should have said "Sometimes life has a way of moving you past things like wants and hopes" and then run up and killed Clu while he hung there. Then Flynn should have fixed the bridge and then they all could have left.
I watched this with my friend and he said he didnt like it, he said there werent enough action and the story was crap. I was like, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR VULCAN MIND!?!?!?!?
Well Kevin Flynn is too old to really fight and after CLU easily ate Sam's punches it would seem CLU would be too much for even Sam and Khora together. Besides, CLU's army was right behind them and the portal was closing so they didn't have time to fight.
I don't think he actually had force-like powers in the sense that he could just push people at will but rather I think it's more like he executed the recombining process as a last resort if CLU came too close to stopping Sam.

Quorra explains the process earlier when Sam asks why Flynn doesn't just delete CLU.

Actually the copy of Tron we see in this movie (aka: Rinzler) didn't die. Take a close look at what happens to him when he hits the water. He does NOT derezz! In fact, his lighting (which is a sign of what faction you are, and/or if a corrupted program) reverts back to it's original self. Also, the ORIGINAL Tron is still inside the ENCOM mainframe, along with the rest of the original characters. unlike Flint's computer, which is 'off the net', ENCOM mainframe is on the net....
Yeah, I know Rinzler/Tron didn't die when he hit the "water". It was hard not to notice his color changed. I previously thought when Kevin Flynn (Bridges) bonded with CLU, he and everything in the Tron world was destroyed. But since then I looked up the movie on Wikipedia and it said only Kevin Flynn, CLU and his armies were destroyed. So it seems everything else in the Tron world was unharmed, which very likely included Tron, formerly Rinzler.
Pause when Clu is flying toward Flynn. You can see Clu's disc when he his flying, then when he goes past the camera, his disc is also on his front! Then Clu turns around when he gets next to Flynn! Weird.
Sam found his father that he hasn't seen in 20 years and Flynn sacrificed his own life for his son. That's really powerful for the love between a father and son.
If Clu and his army enter the real world its not gonna be as easy as he thinks. When he becomes real hes gonna learn the hard way of being an actual living thing. He would then experiances: Pain, bleeding, diseases, starvation, diabetes, diabetus, gore. This guy owns a company so the people won't tell the difference between him and Clu. With all the money he educate himself in this world. Clu might even this his creater's identity.
That line really hit me (brought a tear to my eye) when I saw it in the theater and now it does every time I watch this film. Go give Dad a hug, he probably deserves it!
this movie wasnt the best to be honest but it wasnt the worst. the soundtrack was great but the acting was bad. it could of been a lot better if Disney put more time into making this like the original film but with Sam's percpective still in it. im not trying to down those of you that really like this movie. when i first saw it in theaters i thought it was a very good movie but i think they changed part of it. maybe. i dont remember but if not then thats ok. im just used 2 faster paced movies.

If my math is right, Flynn has been in there for the equivalent of over 900 years... Imagine living that long not knowing about his family, emotions churning and hope fading decade after decade, century upon century. Then one day Flynn finally sees his son again, and hope is slowly rekindled. Then in the blink of an eye the opportunity is lost and Flynn must choose to eliminate himself to reintegrate with CLU...
Some people say the ending sucks. I say it can't be better.

Not sure if it's a blooper or not, but when Flynn pulls Clu towards him, at first Clu has his back facing Flynn, and he instantly turns to face him, face to face, in less than a second.

If Clu and his army enter the real world its not gonna be as easy as he thinks. When he becomes real hes gonna learn the hard way of being an actual living thing. He would then experiances: Pain, bleeding, diseases, starvation, diabetes, diabetus, gore. This guy owns a company so the people won't tell the difference between him and Clu. With all the money he educate himself in this world. Clu might even this his creater's identity.

That line really hit me (brought a tear to my eye) when I saw it in the theater and now it does every time I watch this film. Go give Dad a hug, he probably deserves it!

this movie wasnt the best to be honest but it wasnt the worst. the soundtrack was great but the acting was bad. it could of been a lot better if Disney put more time into making this like the original film but with Sam's percpective still in it. im not trying to down those of you that really like this movie. when i first saw it in theaters i thought it was a very good movie but i think they changed part of it. maybe. i dont remember but if not then thats ok. im just used 2 faster paced movies.

@Dracanon How am i too you ng to understand this movie?? i just saw the original TRon today and i liked it but not as much as this new one. i did, though, watch Tron LEgacy over again recently and paid more attentjion to it. i really liked it afterwords. :D

If my math is right, Flynn has been in there for the equivalent of over 900 years... Imagine living that long not knowing about his family, emotions churning and hope fading decade after decade, century upon century. Then one day Flynn finally sees his son again, and hope is slowly rekindled. Then in the blink of an eye the opportunity is lost and Flynn must choose to eliminate himself to reintegrate with CLU...
Some people say the ending sucks. I say it can't be better.

Not sure if it's a blooper or not, but when Flynn pulls Clu towards him, at first Clu has his back facing Flynn, and he instantly turns to face him, face to face, in less than a second.
