Peter is going know what Nathan meant, about not knowing who his. They don't get along half the time, but Nathan and Peter's lives would be empty without each other in it. Nathan is Peter's rock and shelter, when things goes wrong. Its going to get a lot lonely for Peter, without Nathan around.
