  • when you were talking about sandpaper i started thinking, if you were surviving where there was a bit of sand could you rub the stick on the sand to smooth it down, like sandpaper? or you could gaher some sand on a leaf and rub the leaf on the bow

  • hahaha holy shit he got camal toe

  • Have I gone deaf or has the plug come out of my tower again?

  • mud cracker

  • this is made of alder tree

  • talk to the camera dude, not the grass and get to the point already!

  • How did you make the arrow?

  • It stands for do it yourself

  • whats DIY stand for. (im clueless)

  • will the bow brake if i pull it too long

  • @branbrancpdude123 probs. and bow(or its string) will eventually break if u keep pulling it back beyond its limit

  • how long does the wood need to be

  • I don't like how people use those modern bows, I prefer the old day bows!!!

  • @Saint4Ever37 Most people use compound bows becase as soon as you get to maximum draw length its easier to hold there than recurve bows

  • awsome vid

  • o ya, what kind of knife are u using? i am looking at the tom brown tracker knife. what do u think about it?

  • i love the way u made your bow. i am 13 and have tried to make one for 6 years without luck. i do have an archery instructor who is also my wilderness skills mentor. it be realy cool if you could either make me one or video the whole thing from start to finish. but i would rather u make me one. i am also in the process of getting my hunting license. :D

  • Great one of the only good videos I've seen on how to carve a bow

  • that was a great video. i really cant wait to try this out for myself, i've made bundle bows before, but i think that that is a lot better way of making a bow. my only question is that, can this work for say; making a bush bow or short bow as well?

  • silent

  • nice

  • hard to hear you fellae

  • One bit of advice i would like to give you is, to get rid of those kinks in the wood etc. all you need to do is set up a fire and gently heat the wood. When you gently heat the wood it allows your to bend the wood into shape.

  • good video just way to quiet

  • not meat, WOOD

  • ya u can get sand paper out there just take birch bark an lather it with pine pitch and dump some sand on it and turn it up side and brush of the sand that did not stick and let it dry

  • How do you make string in the wild? Plant String or Animal String?

  • i havent got around to making a bow yet but i just tryed making a wooden arrow, i used oak wood, i got a log about 2.25 feet or so and then cut it down to a square stick and sanded it down tell it was like a regular arrow and then cut a pointy tip and i got the little aluminum or whatever peace of of the back of a pencil that holds eraser on and i made a little end to fit on the string and glued it on, i tryed it on my 20 lb bow, shoots fairly good but shot it on 70 lb bow and it split in half

  • what tree is that i cant hear a thing

  • Ubbfijvwwnr fvjdn fun skins fund DVDs

  • Mjnnkmkm,l,

  • Wat type of string can I use as bowstring? can u PLEASE REPLY Im making a bow out of red oak and idk wat i should use as good bowstring!!!!

  • @Filmskra use nylon cord for a cheap option. Just finished my bow today.

  • @Filmskra your best best is to buy some d50 or fast flight but in a survivial cricumstance anything from making your own cordage form plants to dental floss works well

  • how long does this last before it snaps?

  • @SantoryuWazamono i left this bow with the son of the outfitter i was hunting with and he told me recently that his son was still shooting it in his back yard. but it all depends on how its stored

  • @Huntingchannel then how can you store it and keep it from drying?

  • what knife are u using?

  • @sean77267 KOA Bush camp

  • Y U NO TALK LOUDER??

  • Cool survival bow you have a video with the completed bow?

  • @johnnieblaze1974 no sorry

  • omg that guy is hawt

  • What kind of a knife are you using?

  • @browneye77 KOA Bush Camp

  • Seattle represent

  • birch, not alder

  • How long do these bows last?

  • @reyortsed113 depends on how you store it, if you want a long lasting bow then it needs to be sealed with poly urithane or simular finish

  • @Huntingchannel Thats cool. Thank you.

  • is this oak? thx

  • +1 if you had to put your volume to the max to hear only the minimum.

  • where did you get your knife

  • @mrbigtoe71 sportsmans wherehouse its a KOA

  • What wood would you recommend

  • @Bowman333334 i used alder, aspen, vine maple, and just about anything you can think of for a survival bow, but if you are building a bow to hunt with that will last a lifetime, hickory, and red oak make good combo

  • What poundage sorry I'm only 13

  • @Bowman333334 make it to what ever poundage you can comfortably hold back, by trimming and tappering a little at a time untill you reach your draw wieght

  • this is a dumb question but if i bought wooden dowel its the same steps correct?

  • @Bassstylerz100 yes but it may not react the same depends on how th wood was treated

  • how thick should the wood be?

  • @ER1K259150 depends on what yo uare trying to achieve, but typically 3/4" for body by at least 2" wide

  • what kind of wood was it i cant here him for shit

  • You suck you didn't even show us how to make the mocks or the bow string.

  • what kind of wood is it

  • best stuff for the string is 550 paracord

  • We make from nuttree , which is a very omogenious wood, light and elastic and the wood must be dry.The ideea in working a bow is that the force has to be from the midlle to the both heads corect share. In the middle this is maximal and to the heads become constant lower.Wood has to follow this priciple. And very carefull not to be thiner sone along the arms, becose ths take a lot of power out throught weaked points.I have one mediumpower wood bow which shoot 200 meters 20 kg force on arow

  • you have a sharp knife...

  • is this a silent video?

  • thank so much i made one with twine but twine is not so good but the bod of the bow is very strong and is very bendy but doesnt break

  • could twin work for the string i have twine and thats all i have

  • kewl for making bows, string and arrows and tons of survival skills I recommend primitiveways (dot) com

  • you sir are evil , not for making a bow to kill animals i have no problem with that . you sir are evil BECAUSE I COULDN'T HEAR A FRAKING THING YOU SAID. jk

  • your intro music is to loud and i cant hear YOU talking

  • Message me

  • talk louder and dont sit like a girl!!!!

  • what is the best string to use? would u recommend fishing line?

  • @loadedClownZ i would not recommend fishing line unless it was Dacron, fishing line is meant to have stretch and it will affect performance.

  • @Huntingchannel i'm new to bow making. if it doesn't affect performance too much then i'll give it a shot, nylon string seems to be popular but i can't find it anywhere. what could i use for string? and tell me, i'm making a bow now out of cypress an it doesn't seem to be very flexible, should i continue making it or just ditch the project?

  • @Huntingchannel So What do you recommend?

  • talk louder

  • shhhhhhh!!!!!

  • is that birch?

  • Totally agree with acoishiru :D

  • What wood do you use?maybe you did say that in the video but i didn't here nothing what you sed.

  • I made a bow like this today and I used dental floss it shaped use fishing line

  • Awesome. And informative. I will definitely be keeping dental floss on my person. And, I guess I could start flossing, too. P.S. the volume is so low.

  • actually pine wood worked ok. its just not the best kind of wood to use

  • sound off

  • hes right dental floss is stong my uncle tied up guys in the navy with it braiding it together works good

  • Speak a little fuckin louder

  • thats the best primitive bow I've seen yet! Great vid man.

  • What kind of knife are you using?, could i use a hatchet instead?

  • i have tried pine wood and what a fail.it can bend but not bendy enough

  • Speak up dammit

  • i used a machete and made a spear like the way you cut this bow down i really dunno what to do with it its about up to my chest height its pretty straight but its a bit heavy and im not sure what i could hunt with it if i cant throw it too far

  • cool

  • talk fucking louder

  • @mrlupas Get louder speakers

  • @mrlupas

just turn up your volume you lazy twat

  • @branni79 wats a twat

  • @Animefan2018 dont you mean twit

  • question, isnt the side with the bark still on supposed to be the belly/side that is closest to you side..?

  • @MsRob567 What's your point?

  • what kind of knife is he using??? i lke it and i want one

  • i can barely hear you lmao

  • cant hear you

  • this sux

  • I started to build some bows on my own kinda like you do it. I was asked, why i removed half of the wood on each side, and i couldn't really answer it.

    What exactly is it for?

  • back in the old days they cut down staves and wax the ends and leave it for a year to dry out

these days they kiln dry them but thats dangerous because you have warp and split the wood

  • would this be reallly good for hunting

  • it would be good if you showed us how to mount the string !

  • man i wish it was light out right now! i would go make one

  • i might have u send me a long bow the guy in this video email me jonah214@yahoo.com

  • an axe would work better

  • How long would this bow last?

  • @TheGavinch believe it or not just spoke to Mike Vuaghn of Olympic Mountain Outfitters i gave the bow to his son back in aug when i built it and he told me that he shoots it everyday. My guess is becuase its so humid in Washington that it hasnt dried out yet. but onces it gets too dry without any sealer on it it will break. or of it stays wet for too long it will rot.

  • @Huntingchannel wait, is that a cold steel gi tanto? i have the same 1!

  • @carlyle0229 do you know what a tanto blade is ???????

  • @Huntingchannel In a survival situation, you would have no string..snare traps would be first, not a bow. atlatl would be first.

  • @Huntingchannel sounds like you should treat it the same way as your axe ... never store it inside, always in the basement or a shed, otherwise the wood will shrink and the head will come loose

  • I never even thought about using dental floss as a braided bow string. Good tip!

  • what would i do for to make a perfect bend at each limb?

  • @neonbluen851 you have to remove the same amount of material from each side for starters. but if you want it perfect you have to use a tillering jig. Or string the bow up and remove material while its under half load/tension and watch the limbs make a uniform arch.

  • this helps me now im going to go outside and build one. thanks for teaching me
