Vincent Johnson is a ragtime revelation! That's a great snappy and entertaining version of the famous rag! I also enjoyed Andrew Barrett's washboard:-)
Wow.. didn't know anyone was in the audience for this piece.. It was played during open piano, and unfortunately, not many people come to open piano. As far as the piece goes, this is by far one of my favorite rags of all time. The A-section is brilliant in its use of Augmented Fourths and boogie bass, the B-section full of beautiful melodies and consecutive fourths, and the C-strain full of rhythmic tricks. Andrew did a great job of keeping the audience (and myself) tapping along in rhythm!
I also got you and Andrew on the pianos doing Cabbage Leaf Rag, with the other washboardist, and, before that, you soloing on The Blue Grass Rag. I'll get to posting them eventually...!
No need to do Blue Grass Rag - I forgot what I was playing in a few spots.. =o.. Should've brought the sheet music along.. Do you have Tom Brier playing Hot Rod Tommy or any of his novelties?
Hmm, doesn't seem like you forgot anything to me! Shoot me an email and I'll send the video to you; you can post it on your channel if you so decide. As for Tom, the only composition of his own I got him playing was Just Peachy, which I shot because it can be used to advertise his new folio, since that tune is in it.
Gosh, I feel bad now that I didn't record him playing your Hot Rod Tommy for you, given that I had two opportunities to do so. Get on my case next time, and make sure I record anything you want me to!
Don't worry about it Ron - He'll be playing that piece more when he gets it under his fingers.. It's a recent one. I'd love to see Step It Up! As far as Blue Grass goes.. Email it to me, and I'll see if it's alright.
Hey! Some poor body has to wash cloths on that!

Oh wait, I also got Tom playing "Step it Up" sort of; I was focused on Andrew playing the washboard to it.
