i don't know how to describe the emotions this song raises within me... cianalas? donnie's voice is out of this world, and the subtle beauty of the backup vocals makes my heart ache.
@tonythekingfisher where or how did you learn gaelic? i'm german and it's very difficult to find someone to teach me...i love this language, but most people in germany don't even know gaelic is existing. so i've been trying to teach myself, but especially the pronunciation is very hard to learn. got any insider tips for me?
i was brought up listening to runrig! from i small boy i always thought runrigs spirit ad soul with with donny and the brothers. But now runrig will never be the same. A canadian god singer that he is! Will never have the heart as soul thats needed!!
Who is singing is Donnie Munro born in Uig, Isle of Skye of Scotland. His native language is Scottish Gaelic and so is the lyric of this beautiful song.
When he retired from Runrig he was replaced by Bruce Guthro, who indeed is a great singer from Canada.
great to hear this again

If this doesn't move you, you simply have no soul.
Mara isn't Runrig's best album overall, but it's worth buying for this magnificent track and Meadhan Oidhcre Air An Acairseid.
As an English speaker, I find Runrig's Gaelic songs to be quite wonderful. They have inspired me to learn Gaelic!

@tonythekingfisher I'd quite agree. Mara isn't the strongest of Runrig's album but Thairis and Meadhan Oidhche Air An Acairseid are good.
Have to say that Searchlight is my favourite with The Big Wheel a close second!
's math sin!

Audio I'm afraid. Unfortunately it is off of iTunes and won't let me upload due to protection (unless soneone knows how?)
It is the live version they did in Glasgow 1996.

Currently uploading...not put the lyrics on however. Will link to it asap.
