  • Only Mario Winans would turn such a beautiful song into an R&B classic.

  • To me, it is symbolizing the feeling of loneliness with a slight shimmer of hope. It is that feeling that you get when you see or hear something so beautiful, that no matter how depressed you are feeling, you can't help but admire it. It makes me think about walking in a foreign place. Everyone around me is happy, and understands eachother. But nobody notices me, though they see me walking. It's very hard to explain, as sorrow is.

  • @Yahshuaismylamp spot on.

  • bibo no aozora means endless flight

    It is really a masterpiece

  • @Kaesebrotsaft My favorite piece of all time from Mr. Sakamoto. But actually the title means "Beautiful Blue Sky" Endless flight was a different piece that came out with his by Gustavo Santoalalla who composed the score for Babel.

  • Rainy day track

  • if you call yourself artist you dont mess with this classic music tune. so trey song they are no artist but flop-this. its for all does no talent wannebe musicians.

  • This was used in a Trey Songz song?

  • @bajanchica13 No! Mario Winans did, Trey Songz sung over it

  • Yep, the movie Babel used this and put it on the Soundtrack. Its a beautiful composition.

  • the beauty of sorrow

  • Trey Songz sampled this melody in his "Can't Be Friends" song..beautiful song

  • this was also played at the end of the movie pathology. which was a great movie.

  • To me its an expression of Loneliness, but not by choice. Amazing piece of music. The segments played by the cello are are like memories while the main line (life) is going on, which puts the piano out of ease. very well composed. Second Favourite my Ryuichi Sakamoto :)

  • @rjdmc just curious. what is your favorite of sakamoto?

  • @amanesayuri to be honest first place changes alot but right now i think it is back to Merry christmas mr lawrence... mainly for one reason the part I call the Resolve.. it sends tingles down my spine everytime I hear it.

the part i mean is at 2:46 on the you tube version

Ryuichi Sakamoto Trio 1996 - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

    what about yourself?

  • @rjdmc Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is one of my favorites too. A Flower is not a Flower is another good one..

  • sounds like a sweet expression of pain

Gracias Maestro Sakamoto! :D

  • GREAT¡¡ is one of the most beutiful song I ever heard

  • @AssAndTitties510 you have to clear a sample before u can use it

  • This song is so beautiful it makes me want to cry :)

  • WOW! Thats all I can say Mario Winans! WOW! U prolly was over seas when you heard this sample on a commercial. WOW!!! Love it! Genius!

    -Gumbo

  • i know i might be in the wrong crowd....but i heard on the radio an rnb song using this piece.....anyone know the song im talking about?

  • @chicoloco86

yup, its trey songs cant be friends

  • @sm0keysm0key Thanks :)

  • as everyone may know, Mr. Sakamoto is currently having his North American tour and I was just wondering, does he usually play this piece at every single one of his concerts? 'Cause the main reason I would go is to have a chance to actually experience this lovely, lovely piece live, a piece that no words could ever describe.

  • perfect chords

  • i really wanna cry

  • A wonderfulll song !

  • amazing song from babel

  • This could be beautiful on a funeral...great song...

  • maybe it's both about the way we see a vast sky and the way birds see the ground as a vast space or maybe both at the same time

  • This is the least thought out argument I've ever come across on Youtube. The idea is just too massive to be conveyed in the manner your'e suggesting. Hahaha

  • POW

  • but then they go back in unison as if representing the followers who still go by the church (or a new generation) an eventually the piano falters, as if not being able to explain itself

  • No, its about appreciating a beautiful blue sky. Its what the title means- "Beautiful Blue Sky." The violin and cellos are the wind. The piano the inner thoughts of the person. The wind picks up, there is a strong gust, and a storm comes along. The storm recides, and the person falls asleep or possibly passes away.

  • @Mymothercanrun Interesting background info, what's your source please?

  • @Mymothercanrun best interpretation of this song I've heard. I had a dream once where I was floating in the air, it was fall and leaves were falling all around me. All I could see were the dead trees and the sky above. This song is the accompaniment to that dream.

  • Siempre me ha parecido un gran tema. El hecho de que no sea fácil y algo triste o melancólico lo mantiene en mi memoria. Quizás sea expresión de esperanza desde una visión realista.

    (Todo muy subjetivo).

  • Genious composer. The most beautiful music I ever heard!!!!

  • I want that fuckin DVD!

  • So powerful

  • His music is magical

  • PERFECT.

  • super!!!

  • v emotional

  • I don't get the part that starts at 04:30. For a reason it doesn't sound right. Can someone with a classical background maybe explain?

  • Its atonal. Atonal music views every note as equal, so they abandon harmony, and thus notes don't seem to mesh together in a traditional way. Think of it as a strong gust of wind, a dark cloud over head, or a sudden summers rain storm. (title means Beautiful Blue Sky)

  • think of it as the disharmony that occurs in life translated into music.

  • OH SO THIS IS AMAZING LIKE OMG.

  • simply FABULOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • its the kind of deppression and sadness you actually want to feel

  • Brilliant comment...

  • 4:33

  • There is such a wisdom in Sakamoto's music. It captures the mistery of life: all its complexity, pain and beauty in one sigle form.

Amazing. This is what Art is about.

  • "this is what Art is about" I coudn´t say it any better my friend, and that´s why it should be enjoyed =3 Have a nice day my friend!!!

  • wow!!! es increible!

  • Sugoi!

    nihongo no ongaku gasuki yo!

I love this on Babel! Beautiful...

  • 胸を抉られる

    伴奏者自身が、抉られてるからだろう

    Acute loneliness overcame me

  • 胸の中にある感傷的な情動をえぐり出される思いだ。彼の中にどんな悲しみが潜んでいるのだろうか?

  • Ryuichi, only you can make me feel in heaven with your music. You are so gifted, omg. Would you consider coming to South America. I guess I wiil have to go to New York or Tokio to listen to your wonderful music. I became addicted to your music. You are unprecedented and so outstanding as a musician. I just don't feel like working any more, but listening to you. By the way thank you, yokoxs4all, for uploading this.

  • Yeah, I think I'm going to have to Tokyo too.

  • This beautiful music and film (Babel) shows that the union of different races may result in wonderful pieces of art.

  • Brilliant.

  • Das ist das Schönste das ich je gehört habe

  • Ich auch

  • I love...the beauty of this song. I love how you get a sense of disorientation... Its like.. the sky is changing. Violently, but in the end it turns out alright.

This song is pure ecstasy, and I have yet to find any other song that sends chills to the depths of my core.

  • The strings complement the piano perfectly.

  • Este hombre tiene el corazon en las manos, el alma en el pensamiento.

  • Exactamente. Lo explicaste todo en una simple phrase.

  • oh ic.

  • i think its from the movie babel :/

  • Its been used in Babel, but it was already on his 1996 album

  • @yokoxs4all Pwned. But no seriously, he's right. The way you worded it made it sound like he took it from Babel. Which is completely wrong. >.< Ryuichi Sakamoto composed the song WAAAAY before the movie was even an idea in the writer's head. :P

  • and the movie pathology

  • amazing

  • amazing piece of music. I heard it on the film "Autopsy" and had to find out what composed it. It's slightly "out there" in places for my personal preference but it's still very beautiful.

  • So good.......

  • i used to hate that part where the violin and cello go haywire. but, now i think it's necessary here, because it interrupts that rhythmic melody, then starts you over. it balances the piece because it's mad, and disastrous, contrasting the softer side of the piano.

  • I absolutley loved the song until around 4 and a half minutes it sorta broke it up. still one of my favorite songs though.

  • One of the most beautiful thing human ever made :)

  • beautiful! <3

  • I cried when I heard this song... and im not a sentimental kinda guy. very beautiful song.

  • bellissima, davvero stupenda.. un'armonia coinvolgente, raffinata, molto profonda.

  • meravigliosa

  • really moving. its often the simple melodies that have the greates effect. re:jazz covered this with a dnb vibe. worth a hear i think. ;D go to their myspace.

  • And lets not forget, that these "simple melodies" are often the hardest to perform.

  • Incredible. The strings weep, while a peaceful and aristocratic melody is superimposed on top. Perfect sound.

  • This may be presumptious(? sry my bad spelling, im not english speaking by birth) but modern japanese composers seems more free in creating beautifull music compared to european? You dont hear this kind of compositions from serious european modern composers, i guees they think its naive. But thats what so incredible with this piece. I know Sakamoto has been experimenting alot but he still seeks to make beautifull music. Is this thought completely of the track?

I allso love the movie babel :)

  • Addicting sounds!simply MAGNIFICENT evocating sadness, nostalgia, desire to cry,but resolves in peace and grandeur. Can't really explain in words, just listen and please enjoy!PEACE!LOVE!UNDERSTANDING!

  • This absolute beauty and this simplicity is a true sign of genius. I believe this guy is one of the greatest composers of our time...

  • I had this stuck in my head after watching that movie a year ago and thats how long i havent heard this song.until now, i can finally hear the melodious sound that ive been wanting to for a long time.

  • Several days ago I watched the film again. This time this song was forever embedded in my head and I rushed to my piano to find the sequence of notes that makes this song so powerful and moving. I struggled for several more days recalling it from memory and then I found this composition on You Tube. I will learn it note for note. This song is truely a gift to all... It is special indeed...

  • wow..

    what a song...

i heard it in the special and wonderful movie babel.. how can a melody be so perfect?how?

  • Just Amazing!!!!

  • this is so beautifull, so moving...

  • amazing

  • this song in a master piece! makes me just want to blow my face off..

  • wonderful...I just can say wonderful...

his music is realy something special...

he make me feel different...I can't discribe how I feel, when I listen to his music i just know, that the feeling is realy realy good ^-^

    thank's for uploading!!

  • Eh, they kinda kacked that beginning there lol. Great piece of music, nonetheless. He's my idol.

  • Wundersbar!

  • gosh i wonder how ryuichi sakamoto will be replaced when he dies..i dont think anyone else in the world can create "his" type of music.....death sucks. =P

  • Es una pieza preciosa. En mi memoria siempre estará ligada a la última escena de Babel con toda su carga emotiva.

  • absolutely brilliant. I heard this song in Babel and it actually brought a tear to my eye. Rain is pretty heavy too. Does anyone know what the title means?

  • "Aozora" means blue sky in Japanese. Don't know about "bibo", maybe it means lovely.

  • in this case, aozora means to flight and bibo endless so the title in english is: endless flight

  • Bibo 美貌(びぼう) means beauty. So the full title is: "Beautiful Blue Sky."

  • Wonderful.

  • Excellent, thank you for the entire video. Between this piece and Wuthering Heights, I can't decide which I like better...but I'm leaning toward this one. This kind of emotion is very rare to be captured so purely. The chords he uses and the simplicity of the song...wonderful in every way. All my thanks.

  • absolutely perfect...

cant find words to describe it...

  • perfecto ...
