  • "Many thanks to Ward Marston for allowing us to enjoy these treasures from almost two century ago."

Wow! You must have found a time machine. Where I live it's only been a century since this recording was made. BTW, it's German that he's speaking.

  • Translated: Jascha Heifetz from Petersburg played at Mr block, Grunewald, GAVOTTE of Mozart-Auer on the fifth November 19 ?? ."

  • This doesn't look like a 11 year old kid~~

  • At 0:40 it's unmistakably Heifetz!

  • the childrs don't realise the chance they can have to practice this kind of instrument and so acces to the tresory of the spirituality as a transfiguration..thank for this document!!!thank a lot!!

  • "Ich Jascha Heifetz aus Petersburg, spielte bei Herrn Block, Grunewald, Gavotte von Mozart-Auer am vierten November neunzehnhundertzehn" (4. 11. 1910!).

    R+

  • Simply delicious.

  • @jehovahuponyou LOL!

  • 我去!!!!!!

  • How absolutely darling. A timeless piece.

  • Come On! This sound is JH at his very best, probably recorded when he was between 30 and 50. Just listen to JH's recordings when he was around 17. They don't sound nearly as good as the sound here.

  • very beautiful. I must confess, I wasnt expecting him playing this so playful, specially this young. such a talent.

  • @guidc I totally agree. Prodigy.

  • WILL YOU PEOPLE STFU ABOUT OLD RECORDINGS BEING FAKE!

HOW THE EFFING EF WOULD YOU KNOW THAT IT'S FAKE?

  • Aww what a chubster.

  • Guess you are right.......then it's amazing. Thanks for correcting me.

  • Fake......I am sorry.

  • @raoultak it's not fake at all :) so don't be sorry.

  • Even at 11 he sounds almost too sure of himself to be believed. He speaks German at the end, I'm pretty certain he names what he just played, and that it was an Auer transcription.

  • At the age of 11 Heifetz played better than Auer.

  • A Julius Block Cylinder recording made on November 4, 1912 in Grunewald Germany, pianist Waldemar Liachowsky (Heifetz is speaking in German).

  • He was a cute little boy.. And amazing violin player...

  • You'd think people had never heard surface noise on old recordings. This is only medium bad.

  • @2ndviolinist Many people have never heard old recordings, or they stop listening when they don't hear stereo.

  • @vinylloung I see

  • It is a roll from 1912, as written in headline.

  • I think he is speaking German.

  • Even at 11, he sounds like him!

  • @Milky111wtf You are absolutely right - he sounds like the grown up Heifetz.

  • Amazing playing at such a young age, already can tell he is musical inclinded

  • Jascha Heifetz is a boy!!! All the time!!

  • Even the record is clapping for him :)

  • whoa, she is pretty talented...

  • @NihilTico Jascha Heifetz is a boy.... And was one of the greatest violin player of all time.

  • @LysFlower13 hahhahah!!!!!!!! nihiltico was kidding surely? yes, heifetz was kind of talented. hehe.

  • @NihilTico it`s a boy . can`t you see it from the name ?

  • @eadgbeguitarcdefgabc the picture, however, gives a strong counter-argument :P

  • @NihilTico uh, heifetz is a guy. xD

  • The year the German speaking woman (and not Heifetz, who had a somewhat lower voice) mentions is 1916 ("Neunzehnhundertsechzehn").

  • At that young age he already had all the equipment he needed for greatness and mastery. It brings to mind the 4-year-old Sarah Chang, who also had an immense musical and violinistic maturity at that age.

  • "La valeur n'attend pas le nombre des années."

  • first i thought the background noise is an applause hahah xD

  • @BadBlueBoy213 hahaha

    STOP CLAPPING!!..oh wait

  • @cjstrause hahaha :P yeah that's what i thought xD

  • @BadBlueBoy213 Lol that's how good he was !

  • @BadBlueBoy213

Haha I did as well until I read this comment :P

  • @BadBlueBoy213 Yes I do too! Haha : P

  • Wonderful music from a prodigy. Thank you for sharing.

  • Even at eleven, he already had that famous "Heifetz" sound...

  • Thank you.

  • Go Jews

  • @marydwyer14119 Yep! Youse Jews ain't bad, that's for sure. :) The world would be a lot worse off without the Jewish people.

  • This was an absolute treat to see Heifetz at the age of 11 and hear him perform. Thank you. Maya

  • Early signs of that signature portamento. Fascinating.

  • what a cute fat cherubino, lovely

  • If he only knew back then what he would become i dont think he'd have believed it himself.... He upset every other Fiddle player in the world when he went directly to the top of the Tree and with Gods blessing may he remain there for all Eternity because he deserves it.....

  • At 11?????

  • The confidence in the portamenti, that is fascinating.

  • Russian accent. O key. Cylinder - WAXHARD

Edison GOLDGUSS ? , Edison Gold MOULDE REC. ?

    Historical Music registration.

    Thank You very.

  • He`s very talented

  • What a great document!

The boy is speaking German with a Russian accent. As far as I got it, he says "Jascha Heifetz aus Petersburg spielte bei Herrn Block, Grunewald, Gavotte von Mozart-Auer am ?. November 19??." The question marks indicate the words I did not understand properly.

  • I believe he says "funf" as in 5 November; the year date I cannot figure out.

  • I'm sure you are right. So the text should be:

"Jascha Heifetz aus Petersburg spielte bei Herrn Block, Grunewald, Gavotte von Mozart-Auer am fünften November 19??."

  • @martinadler73 1934? 1936?? 1944? i thought it said that after playing it over and over.

  • @martinadler73 1934? 1936?? 1944? i thought it said that after playing it over and over.

    OMG OMG ITS 1906 OMG

oh translation :Jascha Heifetz from petersburg played grunewald, gavotte mozart auer on 5th november with mr block ]

  • @vinylloung

    ???

  • @martinadler73 at first i was guessing years and then i got the right one and then i translated what you typed

  • @martinadler73 thats just a translation of your comment and what i found the year to be

  • @martinadler73
