This is frustrating. I love this kind of music, but no real bands that I've ever found play it, it's only in movie soundtracks. It's like a meaner, more heavy version of 80's Metal. No Vacancy in School Of Rock play it, too.
If anybody knows some real-world bands that play this style, please recommend them. And please no Steel Panther, I like them but their lyrics bug me.

Like why is Leonardo Di Vinci an "artist" but not a "painter" why is Shakespeare an "artist" and not simply a "screen writer". People call someone an artist if they believe that the person or people are the elite in that form of art. For instance, i play guitar but I'm simply a musician. So calling a musician an artist is the same as calling them a very good musician.

@petercriscuola It's been a long time since I heard the whole soundtrack. Mike sings we All Die Young, which like Crystasorrow said was actually on a Steelheart CD. Mike also sang on Blood Pollution. I think Soto did Stand Up and Shout. I think it's basically Mike sang the songs Wahlberg was seen singing, and Soto was the voice of the singer his character replaced.
Steel Dragon might not be a real band anymore, but the vocalist for Mark Wahlberg's character Miljenko Matijevic is in a band called Steelheart. The song We All Die Young from the movie soundtrack originally was a Steelheart song but it was revamped for this movie. Miljenko is very talented and has a killer range.
If this band was real in the 80's they would have kicked sooo much ass!!!! Rock star was the only music movie i've ever watched where I was like FUCK YEAH!!!! :D Great music.

I'm gonna look their songs up online later" and then i found out it was just a movie, which sucks because this band is fucking awesome. The vocalist is Miljenko Matijevic, he's a very underrated singer. His work with Steelheart especially in the early 90s was pretty good. On top of that, the guy has insane vocal range. I can make some recommendations if you'd like. :)

@4ellington I think you have it the other way around my friend. Zakk popularized the use of pinch harmonics, has amazing stage presence, and can shred like a demon and play all types of music. Jake on the other hand, can only shred.

Steelheart and Steel Dragon is not the same band. The lead singer of Steelheart, Michael Matijevic, did the vocals for Mark Wahlberg's character i the film Rock Star. One of Steelheart's songs, We All Die Young, was covered by Steel Dragon and used in the film. Steel Dragon is made up of Zakk Wylde, Jeff Pilson, and Jason Bonham. Jeff Scott Soto did the vocals for Steel Dragon's original singer, Bobby Beers. Again, Steelheart is NOT Steel Dragon.. But check out Steelheart, they're awesome.

Zakk fucked up the music for this movie in a big way. Any real metal fan can see. Half of the shit was made up of detuned nu metal crap riffs left over from that godawful BLS band. Steelheart and Steel Dragon is not the same band. The lead singer of Steelheart, Michael Matijevic, did the vocals for Mark Wahlberg's character i the film Rock Star. One of Steelheart's songs, We All Die Young, was covered by Steel Dragon and used in the film. Steel Dragon is made up of Zakk Wylde, Jeff Pilson, and Jason Bonham. Jeff Scott Soto did the vocals for Steel Dragon's original singer, Bobby Beers. Again, Steelheart is NOT Steel Dragon.. But check out Steelheart, they're awesome.
