You shouldve just changed the gearing on the riding mower so it would go faster and boom you have a go kart with a lot less work

dude im building one aswel...but im going to be using a push lawn mower because im in he UK and drive mowers are like a luxury over here they cost like $2000 :| haha

Thats not too far off from the prices in the US. You may be able to get a refurbished or crapper one for about $800-$1000.

I thought I was the only one crazy trying to build a frame with bolts and nuts. Well, I am building one small similar to yours but with electric.

I like to know what you use for the steering/spindle or whatever you call it.

i think your doing a good job but i have built 4 go karts goin on to my fifth and you said u needed to build a frame. i disagree i completly stripped a tractor and used that frame and it worked very well. i've built a frame to and that worked better but its more work. cant wait to see part 2. i will comment that vid too.

make shure you put in a kill switch b/c i have the same motor and the throttle stuck and i hit a tree going 25mph:)

when i bought the engine, it ran and what not, but the kill swith didnt work, so i have to plug the spark plug cap off lol

ummm, im kinda new at building a stuff.. i want to know what will happen if you dont have a clutch, i am using a 5hp horsepower engine off of a presure waser and it runs perfect.. i am going to build my frame and scavange the dump for parts... i got wheels and shit like that but.. is a clutch nessescary... plllzzz reply

hi, im interested in making a go kart this summer, and i have an old craftsman riding lawnmower with a 12 or 12.5 hp engine. Is that too fast or big to use? and also, is it easy to take the lawnmower apart and hook up the engine?

if the shaft comes out the bottom of the engine it will be hard to use because u will need a lawnmower transmisson, 12-12.5 hp is great! the more hp the more fun!
