Seemed like a bit of a shout out to good old Gregory Hines :)
Was using the same music but changed the style. I think it was so good. Bit of the old but in a completely new and fantastic way. That man has super feet haha xD
My son loves tap and his teachers say he taps so such much natural talent. They said he resembles Mr. Glover in his style. I wish my son could meet him....
Omg i know the blonde backround dancer her name is ashley and she used to b my tap teacher shes amazing and so lucky to b working with a genis like savion glover
Sure. He is good. But he doesn't give us much of a performance. This didn't really excite me. He is more of a musician than a dancer. He doesn't have much of a form or style that makes him very unique at all. He does the samething a lot. I think he is a little overrrated, but maybe I'm crazy.
@FlyingSquarePancakes Yeah... You're crazy. Or just missing the point. Of course he is partly a musician! Many great tap dancers are also great percussionists. Fred Astaire for one. The entire show "Stomp" was about that connection.
A form of dance that you don't understand and a dancer that has not only mastered it, but is moving it forward, doesn't equal his being overrated so much as it points to the idea that maybe you should open your mind a bit more to different art forms.
@Jayjen35 Yes I know, all tappers are musicians of sorts. I am just into finding a balance between dancer and musician. I guess you could say that is my style. I understand that this is Mr. Glover's style and I appreciate the beauty of it. Don't get me wrong, he is most definitely magnificent :)
This guy is amazing and he even had a Gregory Hines tribute starting @2:09-2:22. that section was sampled from Gregory Hine's movie Tap. The street scene when Gregory is getting down with three other guys. It was a really great moive and Savion is so cool for including that piece in his number. RIP Gregory hines!!

Savion Glover is truly Rythem in motion. He don't really need music ... he's able to make you feel the rythem coming straight from his soul ... from the heels of his feet and 'round to the front of his toes! To me, like Mr. Fred Astire, Savion was put here to dance!
This is so refreshing to see...just pure dancing. And throughout the performance you can see the joy in Savion's face. That's what dance is all about.
the host at the beginning is so annoying, but Savion is amazing, i love the way he starts the dance with no music, the way he communicates dance with lights/set/costume is great
Savion Glover is a genius. He is regarded as the greatest tap dancer alive by all the greats that you know, Dr Whiggs, for their grace. He chooses to experiment with the form, not just to do what he already knows he can do, and what people already expect tap to be. This particular style may not be your cup of tea, but Glover can do it all -- and does. He's an artist who pushes what is expected from and in the art of tap, like it or not. Before you ass judgment, see what else he does with it.
@Provenz Been away (too!) long from the US now, but my idol in tap dancing was Gregory Hines (whose unpublished tapes I'm trying, the little I can, to raise awareness about, to have released). What you are saying, reminds me of G Hines genius - their scope. Can see here, that Savion G really learnt well from his teacher, G Hines. Do you, and do all the "greats" you are referring to, see him being on the same 'level' as G Hines? That he can 'surpass' him even? As every next legend should...
That is true talent. i was at a competition studio most my life until just last fall i went to college and now am working with a tapper who has traveled and worked with savion. It feel like a better tapper now than i ever was. this is where tap all came from. and this style is more fun and so much better
@DrWhiggs No, but you can take it that he has taken a style that has been around for several generations and brought it to a lot of people who would have never known about it, has taught many many students this incredible form of dance, passing on what he's learned from Greogry Hines and Sammie Davis Jr. etc etc etc.
Sorry, but this dance form is more than Fred Astair, and the latest line on Broadway, as great as he was and they are.
This first time i saw him was on "Tap" with Gregory Hines & Sammy Davis Jnr...awesome movie showing some of the greatest tappers...i have the movie on DVD. ...I don't tap myself but i love watching & listening to those shoes...awesome sound. I also recognised some of the tap moves from the movie "Tap"...Savion ROCKS...cheers from NZ :)
The music was kind of distracting. But Glover's talent is undeniable. He's THE authority on the artform fo tap dancing. I think he was even in a movie with Sammie Davis Jr. and Gregory Hines as a child.
i don't think the audience even understood what they were watching. he is simply the greatest tapper ever. i hope my daughter gets to tap with him some day. she loves to tap.

Savion is sooo amazing. I have taken classes from him and it is just one of the best experiences to have. The blonde tapper in the back was one of my teachers that i took from growing, too.
i watched this in dance class before and the teacher said that he does like 10 taps a second!!!

Not hard to see why Streisand wanted him for her on stage partner, even back in 2000. Not too many artists on his level.
Today or ever.

Savion is a good dancer, but to him give the title of "The Best Dancer In The World" is
going a bit overboard, a great bit overboard.Tom Bergeron must have read that of a
card written by Savion Glover.Fred Astair,Gene Kelly and Gregory Hines must be turning over in their graves.
