I am a commercial fisherman in Port Orford. The reason for using cranes is not because of a reef. It is due to the fact that we are not located at the mouth of a river, instead it is the open ocean. Therefore, having our boats in the water is only possible during calmer weather.

Nice, what did you think of the town? Nice to visit, but its hard to make a living in that town. I was at the redwoods last year, very nice.

Do you live there? I used to live there, but the OLD dock had one gigantic crane on it, before they demo'd it.
