  • I sang this for all-state choir three years ago(not very well) and up until now I never appreciated the beauty of this music. Our 150-person choir is performing Sleep, and I'm now a huge fan of Eric Whitacre. Excellent performance.

  • Wherever it's performed, you have got a cracking acoustic for this music! :)

  • what i wouldn't give to have sung in that choir...

    :-/

  • Singing this in my school's choir. It's awesome :D

  • @Acoontey where do you go?

  • This sounds very good. I absolutely adore this song with a passion. the story is so touching. The first time we sang this in high school our director took half a class just trying to get us to fully understand the emotion to the piece and just looking at the words. One of the best choral songs in the world in my opininon.

  • We're singing this in choir for the fall concert. First time I heard it, I almost cried.

  • It's gorgeous. There seems to be a little bit of push from the second sopranos/altos in the first ten seconds, but otherwise perfect. The sopranos hit it all perfectly.

One of the best that I've heard!

  • @BassBunnieGirl ya i agree with the first ten secs...but i think it possibly had to with the recording and position of the mics at the live performance...

butthanks for your nice complaints :-)

  • @toneant It probably was. :] Though I know from experience it's pretty easy to push right off, especially when excited/nervous about a performance. And of course!

  • @J11EVAN2 there could never be enough alto. foreeaaalll.

  • Way too fast

  • @Jameson178 no. this is perfect. you can hear every chord and it's phenomenal.

  • wow! great! the composition and this interpretation and performance! so full of love!

  • mmmmm. this song gives me the most delishious tingaly feeling. It is so emotional! I love the dynamics used in it. beautifulist thing I have ever heard!

  • Man, this text is so sad.... I love the emotion it ties to the piece.

  • 2:42 That hit my "whoa this is awesome" nerve. I love this piece

  • Is this in meng hall?! i sang there once with the corona high madrigals. most amazing place to sing ive ever been.

  • @JoeyTheGuitarDude yes it is

  • the poem is by Octavio Paz.

  • does anyone know what poem this is?

  • Awesome ..

  • I LOVE this song so much! It's so gorgeous! I am singing it with the choir I'm in, Kokopelli. I'm so excited! It is so beautiful! This is the best rendition of in I've heard on Youtube so far.

  • This is a very beautiful rendition of this song - but there are moments where voices stick out. That's the ONLY thing that's nit-picky about this. Otherwise, beautiful!!

  • I absolutely love this song. Wonderfully done.

  • I was proud to be in the University Singers from '71 til '76. Glad to see Fullerton has continued to lead the way in the finest choral music anywhere. Looking forward to more videos of this group on YT.

  • Hey, Antone, good job on the chamber choir montage. ;)

  • Oh WOW. We are singing this song in choir and singing it gives you such a high of wow...this is beautiful. But hearing it done so beautifully with all the dynamics absolutely PERFECT it's just....a mind blowing feeling.

  • Amazinggg.
