  • Very nice playing.

  • Which model is that and what size speaker?

  • @G7flat5 This amp is the mini brute iv from around 1979/80 ish and has a 15 inch speaker......

  • Very good soud. I didn´t know it this good distortion. I have a Peterson P100 G, the clean channel is awesome but other...forget it!

So I use pedals and it does well.

  • nice tone!!!!!!

  • great stuff

which version of the minibrute is this ? i'm on the market for a new amp for my archtop but that could also give a nice rock sound, this sounds like it !

  • That sounds amazing ! Really great improvisation

  • That's fuckin' epic. Great playing too.

I wish there were more great SS amps like this, but at an affordable price given how much cheaper it can be to make one than a tuber. You have pretty much the Peavey transtube stuff and that's it. I'm not sure I like the overdrive voicings on the Bandit(the cleans are amazing but don't break up) so I'm kind of stuck at the moment.

  • @MedicineMelanch0ly Pierce and Hartley Thompson made great SS amps too. And you may remember Pat Metheny playing the old Acoustic amp brand way back when. Those were great clean sounding amps.

  • Very nice!!! I tried a Polytone once and hated it but I heard a player tonight use one and it sounded great, George Benson recorded Breezin with one, the top players around here use them. I'll have to check one out again.

  • What year and what model Minibrute is this? Great sound!

  • Have the same brute amp. It made me a lot of dow playing weddings and shows. It never let me down. A good well rounded amp for my gigs without breaking my back. I'll never sell this little rig/thing.

I used to be a dealer for Polytone back in the days and Joe Pass came in my store while endorsing that line of amps. I should have Joe sign it then,...too bad and too late now.

PS..Great chops, great solo. Love tha stuff

  • @DJ2entertain way cool......thank you.

  • I'm using a strat with Lace Censor pick ups and love the clean tone, wonder with that BOSS blues driver whether I will get a good dirty tone

  • By the way I'm using a strat with Lace Censor pickups, and just playing clean it sounds like the amp warms up the tone of the guitar, but I haven't tried it with distortion and so much rock stuff requires a little overdrive

  • Why do so many say you can only play Jazz on Polytone this sounds great with rock like FLoyd?

  • Hey guys, I have a question. I have a Taurus Elite polytone with three channels but no distortion. Im thinking of buying a blues driver pedel from Boss, to run through it. Let me ask something , this video sounds great, but why are so many people saying you can only play Jazz on these Polytones, this sounds like a great rock amp?????????????????????

  • Are you recording direct or mic'd?

  • I like the amp a lot. I heard the distortionchannel sux. But does the amp take pedals well?

    Thanx

  • Thanks...I like the distortion on this amp and I like the clean sound...so I have never tried pedals with it......

the distortion is kind of harmonically rich fuzzy transistor vibe....it sustains into feedback nicely and as I say, I like it....

    all the best

  • Yup good sound. Good player.

  • Hey Roy, its time to make a few more vids buddy, your fans are eager !!

  • wonderfullllllll gilmour tone in one more lonely nightys (paul macartney)! Please give me specifications of this guitar...is this pick ups burstbuckers 1 and 2 or classic 57 ??? sorry my english...brazilian....

  • Thanks,

these pickups seem to be Classic 57's...and the guitar is from 2001 but refinished, possibly to look a little bit like the Peter Green LP..... ( the more I look at both guitars )

  • Sick lines.

  • hey ho much are those amp´s??

because today i gott one like thad for 20 bucks

  • In their day they were a LOT of dough, you'd have to research, but you got a great bargain at 20 bucks, I can tell you....I paid 50 quid for mine...and I like it, it's a good jazz amp on the clean setting...... cool, well done....

  • tnks

  • I payed about 380 quid in 1986 for a new 50w.

  • The amp is super, i used it during the 80' but blow-up the speaker. It never came back after that. I still have it. 1986 modell. Called it the handbag. Cranked to 8/10 it blow all the JCM 800's away.

  • Can you crank a transistor amp? Or did you just use a pedal?

  • No pedals involved here, but the amp has a distortion mode.....like having a built in pedal circuit.

but I have an 80's transistor amp which does distort like a valve amp as you crank the thing up....

That one is an Intermusic IMP 1x10 combo and sounds a bit 2 dimensional but was a good amp in my early days....

most transistor amps need a distortion circuit or a pedal as far as I know, but don't quote me....I normally use valves....

  • Ok, thanks. I'm considering buying a good transistor amp, because i like the clean tone and all transistor amps work great with my Line 6 POD. However the overdrive channel on all the amp SUCKED really bad. Any tips on buying a transistor amp? Brand, wattage (for a medium-sized stage or big practice-room), combo or stack?

  • I wish I could help, but really I think it is a case of trying some amps out and seeing which ones suit your playing, take your pedals with you if you are going to sue pedals with it.....that's probably the best thing to do....

  • Yeah, thats probably the very best thing to do. Thanks.

  • Hay, this amp is under estimated. I used this during the 80's but blow the speaker. After that it didn't come back. Replaced it with a celestion M 12' but it didn't work for me. Check my video, only a simple test.

  • Ca you gig with the Polytone I think its an unbelievable amp I have a tone of Tube amps I shock the crap out of people who thinks its tubes when I play it. You can hear every note they way you hear it in your head I have th eplotone Teeny Brute bought it for $20 cant beat it . It has replaced my Fender Blues JR NOS...

  • Thanks, yes, course you can give with the beast...

it has a lovely clean jazz tone as well.. I was trying to get a sound in my head for twenty years that I only heard once I got the Polytone....

the distortion is good fun too.....as you can hear....

    yeah, i like this amp a lot...and I am a valve nut.....

  • I mean GIG with the beast....doh

  • thats alreaqdy I must have been drinking when I typed nothing makes sense. I jamed with it thursday night and it cut through nicely.
