The first verse is where a friend calls her to ask for her help late (2 am and she calls me cause I'm still awake. "can you help me unravel my latest mistake?") The "mistake" the girl is talking about could be anything.

The nest line offers a clue ("I don't love him") that implicates it has something to do with a guy. It could be something like having sex with him, but the word "unravel" means "undo" or fix. So this is where the abortion theory hits me.
