  • there should be a campaign against fair and lovely ! And seriously they don't change anyone's skin colour.I asked someone about it and they said only the indian made works..so people should check what ingrediant is there in indian made that works it must be harmful.personally i like indian made beauty products many of them but this one is sick.(and not a beauty product indeed)

  • She looked better in her natural skin... A white gal would watch this and say WTF I tan for weeks to get her skin and she wants mine?

  • This commercial makes me mad.

  • It is sad to see social bias bigotry take root n India now with all that African & Native American's have gone through n the US. But India is the land of opportunity for India & Caucasian corporations. Indian's r living the so call American Dream with the export of American jobs shipped over seas 2 their land. It was a matter of time before the color thing would rise up of course India has always had a "Cast System" with darker skinned people being low on the totem pole n that country.

  • @JourniHeart23, those are good points, and being white is a step up in any country on this planet, but it is not so politically correct to mention it ever.

  • I recently saw a white woman n a Nordstrom's n Portland, Oregon shopping & I was amazed that this woman thought she looked good. I asked my sales lady & friend (white) what she thought of the woman & her response was "u mean about the orange lady"! The woman was so tanned that she was "ORANGE!" It did not help that her hair was reddish orange. The image that came 2 me when I saw her was OMG she looks like a "red chicken". This lady thought she look good & healthy but she didn't! It was so sad..

  • someone wanted to know if this means we should ban tanning adverts.... that would depend; are women who use spray on tans / tanning beds trying to appear like they are not caucasian? that's my problem with the ad; if you're a certain race, you are a certain complexion. i think my discomfort stems from the idea that 'lightening' your skin tone is percieved as trying to deny your race. all complexions beautiful. sry not harping on anyone, these comments really got me thinking :) btw im mixed

  • i'm indian, but we can't blame colonisation for this mindset as such. Indian people who are obsessed with getting lighter need to gain some perspective and realise that beauty is only skin deep, seriously.

  • These fair and Lovely ads are crazy, but In a sense it kinda is the truth.

See having a healthy tan is great.. but having skin that is dark and burnt is not.. I don't find it beautiful at all. and don't get me wrong I am no racist, I am just simply saying that dark skin and if your born with it, that's great to.. all I'm saying is protect it...

  • @MisoraOkada Having dark skin is actually more healthy than having naturally pale skin, since pale skin is more sensitive to sunshine and skin cancer. For a naturally fair person to strive for a tan (which is common in Scandinavia at least) is very unhealthy since you really damage the skin that way.

Me I can barely go out in the middle of the summer since I don't tan at all, I just go crayfish-red and flake :S

I know many Scandinavian girls wish they were Asian or Indian for the skin.

  • @aryllia, they may like the idea of being of those races for the health benefits of having darker skin, but then they would quickly complain when they experience all the bias the goes against it. One cannot have her cake and eat it, too.

  • @sandinyourshoes I dunno, there's bias against EVERYONE, no matter what skin tone :/

No one's safe against bias. At best you can tune it out but it'll never really go away.

  • @aryllia, true enough. Whites are not always welcomed in certain circles. Therefore, as you mentioned, no one is immune.

  • She's freaking glowing like a light bulb. Who would want to look like that.

  • @ih8mcfly No because White women aren't trying to look black or Asian, they just want tanned White skin. But these Asian women actually want White, western skin.

I think they're beautiful the way they are:/

  • @millyybabess Who says they want "white, western skin" That girl looks indian with a bit lighter skin after, but shes still pretty dark so that was sad

  • I am indian a

nd i love my skin, people think i have fake tan lol but its my natural color, my frnds wish they had my color bc every summer they get tan and burn ,,i hate this commercial....

  • fuck fair and lovely , their office should be closed down and the items destroyed .

  • In all these ads they use light skinned models with ugly, mismatched brown foundation as the "before". It's like if tanning products used a black girl covered in toothpaste.

  • Fair and lovely co. ads are very rasist. It should be banned. And fine should be impossed on them.

  • If this is racist shouldn't spray on tan adverts be banned ?

  • @ih8mcfly yeah, of course, but this so called "racism" is one way.

  • this ad is bullshit...it should be ban..

  • i think indians look better when their not so pale

  • i lost my jaw somewhere.

    how about this?

she and i ask for a skin transplantation?

she'll be as pale and freakishly white as me and be.. ''famous'' like the commercial promises.

and i will have to spend less time getting brown during summer ;D

    win win situation

  • @HarlequinAmelie

    You want dark skin :O?

I don't really feel comfortable with my skin :(I

I have a tan skin color but most of my friends are lighter than me. I sometimes envy my best friend because she has light skin and really light hazel eyes. Almost all the guys hit on my friends because they have lighter then me -_-. I may sound narcissist, but i know i am pretty (petite body and im really kind and smart) and boys rather go for backstabbing, big light skin person than me T^T

  • Yeah i'd go for tan skin,

I find it to look beautifull and exotic i'd also love to have brown eyes the darker the better <3 i'm a makeup junkie and i think most makeup looks prettiest on brown eyes. but about that don't worry it's not about your skin. in general guys seem to go for back stabbing bitches no matter if those bitches are white or tanned or black XD believe me it confuses every nice girl in the world making them wonder if something is wrong with them.

  • i know how you feel but there this 1 indain girl in my school she look like whore i know she not but how did her boobs grow soo big she only 14 and like she weres a lot of make-up she darker then me im more fairer she gets asked out a lot maybe becouse she look trushy i guess guys go more for the whore look o.o

  • @ymeza2121 If they go for the lighter girls, then why would you want to be with those kind of guys anyway!! Screw them... trust me, you WILL find guys who WILL find you appealing. There is someone for everyone, as I say. Love yourself the way you are. There is so much pressure in society to look "caucasian" that is disgusting.

  • @ymeza2121 Guys dont go for girls because of their lighter skin. They go for girls who are easy especially if these guys are not serious. Such guys are afraid of nice girls because they secretly know that these girls are too good for them and more stable emotionally than them. Besides white color doesnt make someone beautiful, glowy and healthy skin does. I am sure you are beautiful, just be happy and confident with your color and you will be unbeatable.

  • Yeah , uhm,

there is no such thing as a skin whitener, that shit doesnt work! xD

    how racist

  • wow... It amazes me how different people are all over the world! I mean, in my country, girls use solar cabins, bronzers and stay under the sun for hours just to have dark skin! I realize now that I am envied in my country (Romania) for my dark skin, but in others (like India, for example, a country that I love), I wouldn't be considered special! It's all about culture and the idea of beauty... And I don't think color has got anything to do with success and beauty...

  • This is soo fake -.- it did nothing to my skin. Plus they make the commericals dramatical like someone can't get a job or whatever, that's just discrimination.

  • shes so much better afterwards...that dark skin look so dirty

  • Well... so can being this white. You know, I'm that color natural and here in Florida I get a lot of shit about it. Theres so many other tanning products here, no one can really judge these commercials.

  • yeah but theyre not as bad as these, like for example they wont have commercials about denying you a job because ur white, "the only obsticle keeping me from my job was my skin" its totally not the same

  • News Break the the sun is getting bigger brighter and hotter. If you mess up you complexion you will not be able to keep up with times. People can get cataracts if they have light eyes. Be happy with olive and dark skin!!!!!

  • i think im gonna barf

  • WOW she looked better (amazing) before she lightened her skin... its amazing what ignorance can do to people.....

    Color is BEAUTIFUL

  • Agree

  • She look best with the tannish color to be honest

  • I think this commercial is a crack up this crap doesn't even work, just like those kioki foot pads that are supposed to get rid of all the toxins in your body, this is all false advertisment

  • Comment removed

  • white supremacy is america's biggest cultural export

  • You can say that again. Funny how dig dong below (Ian) has the nerve to think that dark skin has to be lower class which is conflating racial characteristics with class. Very dangerous and ignorant.

  • @psionicman the irony is that the definition of a superitority complex is that it comes from an insecure place so hence the need to overcompensate. but the ppl in this age r just wasting their time cuz little do they kno that in those times it was all about culture, skintone never had anything to do with it.

  • jews did mumbai massacre

  • beautyofcolour youre an idiot

it's to do with india's caste system, in hinduism you were born in castes of society, much like class in western world, but you couldnt move out of it at all

traditionally pale skin is associated with a higher caste, the caste system while not as prevalent as it was still has a huge bearing

paler skin= higher caste, richer, more educated, thus more desirable

it's not down to racism because of western culture, it's ingrained in their society, similar to brazil

  • Actually, while it was already part of Indian culture, it was exploited and exacerbated by the British colonialists.

  • @anemone9 exactly

  • in india, because everyone is tanned, they want to be fair - it's something to do with their culture i believe - but i'm not 100% sure the whiter you are the more beautiful you are to them ~

  • Yep thats true...I'm not Indian, but I'm also from South Asia and it's exactly the same in my culture.

  • fair nd lovely dnt work at all

  • By the way, for any future morons out there, I know my history and know how to THINK. DO NOT challenge me on this by insulting my intelligence such as something stupid like "it's precolonial, dark skin is assoicated with poverty" when the global majority is OF COLOR. I can outwit you easily because you're aren't using the most basic commonsense.

  • I think fake tan lotions are way worse than these lotions but IN MY OPINION all skin should be left alone... Just be happy with what you have

  • don't worry so many people want darker skin where I live...

why else would they have fake tans everywhere? even tho fake tans make you go orange.........

  • These prejudices predate the populations that hold them having regular, or in some cases ANY contact with white people.

It is not a white dominance thing, it IS a poverty thing. The majority may be brown, but brown people can still tan, and most people who work out in the sun are in fact poor, and always have been.

Just because it isn't natural doesn't mean it doesn't make perverse sense to some people. Look at breast implants. This is not very different.

  • Please shut up. Dark skin is genetic and it IS from Euro/Westrern Influence. You're actually making class look as if it's based on light skin being the original skin tone just because of tanning. It's really warping biology from a Eurocentric view. Dark skinned nations had beauty standards that supported their ethnic beauty in the beginning. Look up when dark skinned civilizations ruled the world, i.e. ancient egypt, india, the aztecs etc.

  • Just for the record, before some moron says it, there is NO comparison between tanning and bleaching cream. Getting darker under the sun is natural whereas bleaching is usaully toxic and if not is still unhealthy. You're skin isn't supposed to be stripped of it's pigment. It's like going backwards. There's a reason why most people have brown skin. Skin lightening is also from white global dominance and therefore RACIST. Tanning isn't.

  • Excellent post!

  • @Sakuradroppsu,

Thanks. You wouldn't believe how people give me grief for speaking the truth, by saying things like: "it has nothing to do with race it's just a preference for a certain look" or that "ALL of Asia has always wanted fair skin" which completely ignores that not all Asian nations are (or were) light skinned like Japan or China.

    Anyways, thanks for the support.

  • No problem! I just had this conversation with someone who was in fallacy land, because he too said it was about how being dark meant you worked in the sun. Which is outdated. He also compared bleaching to tanning and like you said, there is no comparison. You don't get fired or not hired for being too fair, but for being too dark, that's almost a given in some countries (Brazil anyone?).

  • Totally true!!

I have pale skin and I went to India this summer... You wouldn't believe how many times I had my photo taken. I love India and everything... but walking through the supermarket past all the stupid skin lightening creams made me feel sick, when I always wanted a tan. It's human nature; always wanting what you don't have.

  • green eyes are not caucasian. theyre common in the middle east. thank god im not semitic muslim.

  • aryan indians r classified as white ppl just like iranians or some lebaneses

europeans arent the only caucasians in the world

    sorry guy

  • non-white aryans are not considered as equal by white aryans/caucasians. iranians are more aryan than indians. brahmin hindus are more aryan than arab blood bastard pakistani or pashtun. white people dont like non-aryan whites like jews and slavs or non-white aryans like iranians.

  • lol paki, grow some balls. accept yourself for who you REALLY are. maybe then people will respect you. white people dont like you for you just the way you are, a sneaky MOSLEM paki. theyll hate you even more for begging to be considered as one of them. go your own way and grow a pair of... then we'll have some respect for you

why do you wanna be white anyways?

white guys have small dicks, I dont want women to assume that even before they get into my pants. white guys have bad rep on bed.

  • o m f g, fair and lovley is for the maids...

give me a thumb up if u agree.... or thumbs down if u dont

  • I almost can't believe there are commercials like this because in the u.s. it's a no no. Instead they have tanning creams. lightening creams are kept on a hush.

  • can u upload da latest fair n lovely commercial?

  • i guess its weird, cuz its so easy to get darker skin, but bleaching your skin just seems creepy

  • Who are these bunch of little imbeciles in here? Sheesh..don't you people have anything better to do in real life than playing a wannabe tough girls on youtube? lol

  • White girls want to be dark aka tans and dark girls want to be light aka bleach creams.

  • So So SO SAD!!!

  • white girls dont want to be dark they just want to be tan theres a differenceaccept the truth and be free. The white man has imperialized the world and now controls all races through his IMAGE

  • Let me guess you use both?,,,,STFU!!!!

  • Ironqueenisaditzybitch

How the hell am I assuming anything? I don't know what the fuck you look like for all I know you could be BALD HEADED bitch get over yourself. You're the one making an ass of yourself hahahahahaha I don't care what people choose to do with THEMSELVES so please just STFU you're dismissed you LOSER!

  • This is Shreya77 I'm at a friends house BIOTCH....lmao!

  • Ironqueenrkl,

You dizzy bitch who do you think you're talking to? first of all the chemicals from relaxers can be harmful, second you Can't Tell Women what to do with their SKIN either cum brain. Third what the fuck do you think Relaxers do? STRAIGHTEN your hair last time I checked some black women were not born with naturally straight hair. But I know of some women that are and some happen to be WHITE.straighter hair/lighter skin= NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

so come better next time DUMBELINA! LOL!

  • I'm not trying to be white you assuming asshat! You sure are an ass of yourself making such swift judgements of a woman you don't even know.

I'll style my hair anyway I want so get a room with SrgtStinkyPete and leave me the hell alone!

Oh and I notice you asshats don't call white women who dye their hair blonde self-haters get outta the glass house before you start chucking stones everywhere!

  • This skin fairness is no different then the shit called relaxers that they sell to black women. It still tells you that you're not good enough effing pathetic Indians need to boycott these BS companies selling them this bullshit.

  • Hair relaxers don't compare to skin lightening creams you small minded twat!

You can't tell a woman what to do with her hair.

The relaxers don't cause the health problems that skin whitening creams have done to African women's health you idiot!

Hair relaxing is a style you moron.

The skin bleaching cream is about looking white.

Relaxers are about styling one's hair you doofus.

Good luck with trying to tell women different!

  • skin cream + hair relaxer = NO comparison

  • JMC fantastic logic. In fairness, if they want to buy it let them. Its one of Uni levers best selling products at the moment actually making them millions a year. they are not promoting racism or condoning it, merely making money of a countries own ignorance. its a matter of supply and demand to which there is high quantities of both. there are protests against the product but they are minor numbers compared to those using the product.

  • This product is fucking stupid and will lead to skin cancer and should not be on the market, why can't u people accept yourself for who u are? What do u think will happen to your skin when you go into the sun after you bleach out the top layer pigment which is meant to protect that skin from harmful sun rays? Brown is beautiful too, and just because a person is fair does not make them beautiful, it depends on their features

  • Just because fair skin is more beautiful than brown doesn't mean you should ditch the brown. Brown has its purposes in a harsh climate

  • u sound stupid, who told u that fair is more beautiful that brown?

  • Beautiful comes from the French word beau meaning pretty. Pretty colours tend to be more radiant, brighter than dark, dull colours. So since fair skin is more radiant than brown, it's therefore more beautiful.

  • JMC, fair skin does not mean more beautiful, i seen a lot of ugly fair skin people and lots of beautiful dark skin people, it depends on their features not their colour. And don't teach me about french, caz i already know french. It is because of people like u why this product is doing so well.

  • Even though light skin is more beautiful than dark, dark skinned people should carry more status in climates where brown skin is needed and so should be promoted. Seeing and acknowledging the truth helps.

  • JMC you are really stupid, seriously- fair skin is not more beautiful than brown, it depends on the person's features as i said before, there are lots of dark skin people out there who are better than some fair skin people. You are really lame and ignorant. And thanks to your products like fair and lovely will never go out of the market since people like you influence and buy into it.Go and get some self esteem. How is degrading people who is darker positive?

  • jmc, nice logic(!) Pretty colours tend to be more radiant? ALL colours are beautiful, but their value and appeal are in the eye of the viewer! Brown, Olive, Black, etc. are all beautiful and greatly appreciated colours as much as White, Yellow, Aqua, etc. By the way, have you never heard of dark-skinned models/actresses? Tyra Banks? Sameera Reddy? All gorgeous in their natural skin! Skin colour DOES NOT matter! Dark or fair - there's beauty either way. Olay: Love the skin you're in, indeed.

  • Alright crazy white bitches, I (and many other indian men) like to screw white women but that does'nt entitle you to insult our Indian sistas and tell em' to go get fairer! Got that? If not, no sex for you tonite!

  • atualy, biggest is black people... then indians.... then whites... then asians

  • so true, but then only certain african trides have it bigger than indians. indians and african pretty much the same size. thats why alot of indian guys can please african women.

  • wow... u noe alot of sizes... i wonder how... if ure a guy, then thats just gay...

  • Well theres this thing called the locker room...

  • oh ahahahhaha... WOW... but u shudnt look at those areas hahahah

  • xXBlackxRebelXx

who the hell do u think u r not to sound racist but indian men or women are not allowed to date or marry or having anything to do with black people i know its wrong but i had to answer what u said about indian people trying to be like black africans

  • exactly what was wrong with the way she looked before?? i'll tell you... N-O-T-H-I-N-G....

  • Have to admit she does look nicer after lightening her skin. Very pale people want to darken their skin slightly to go for that optimum look

  • Of corse she looks better afterwards-she had like a full on makeover, the before looks like she got straight out of bed to shoot this commercial under lighting that would be prevalent in a grocery store or something, and AFter they've got all done up with make up/hair/clothes and lighting, how slow can you be to miss something so biased and obvious

  • Yes, she does have the full make over, but her skin still looks better lighter. Anyway, it's possible to make skin colour less of an issue my making the most of what you've got.

  • The only reasons she appears more attractive is due to the environment and conditioning shes subjected to, her change of attitude, body language, the fact she is now smiling...

I can hardly believe that anyone could possibly be so arogant when reading your comment, you must be from a very uneducated background otherwise I have no excuse for your way of thinking,

  • "it's possible to make skin colour less of an issue my making the most of what you've got. "

so skin colour should be less of an issue, yet

"her skin still looks better lighter"

you are ridiculously racist to think there is anything wrong with dark skin, it is obvious your standard of beauty has been greatly influenced by prejudiced opinions a standard borrowed from the west when they colonized the east 100s of years ago and the

  • continual colonization through the media causing you to approve of skin bleaching as a grooming routine such as brushing ones' hair, it is ubsurd to think chemically altering the skin you were born with,

  • which is directly realted to ones internal ethnicity, from darker to lighter OR vice versa is right or excusable in any circumstance, but I'm wasting my words, someone who thinks as you do is obviously too narrow minded to understand any of this, but I look forward to reading your response, perhaps it will be even more amusing than the last

  • BTW-I apologise for posting so many comments but that had to be said and one 500 character comment could not contain everything.

  • Brigitte, I agree with you in that her lighter skin colour is just part of what made her more beautiful looking. Skin lightening creams can simply be sun blocks, rather than bleaching agents carrying dangerous chemicals which I'm totally against. People should accept with dignity what nature has given them and accept some people will be better/worse off than they are.

  • "I agree with you in that her lighter skin colour is just part of what made her more beautiful looking. " you have totally overlooked my point, her skin colour has in fact no impact on her actual beauty.

  • It plays a part, just as how long, or silky your hair is

  • oh ok so anyone who has hair that is not long or 'silky' meaning straight is hideous right- narrow minded idiot, your screwed up in more ways than one, i give up on...

  • Yes, it plays a part, but doesn't mean the other parts can't contribute in a positive way to the beauty of the whole. Light radiant skin is more beautiful than dark, dull skin, but doesn't mean every light skinned woman is better looking than every dark skinned woman. Age, health, intelligence, character etc plays a part in the whole beauty.

  • You're double talking.

  • Preach it girl!

  • If her skin looks nicer afterward its only because its completely airbrushed. Take a look at the before and after. The before is natural but the after has makeup, better lighting, and airbrushing.

  • I use that - works really well.

  • She looked better before. It's horrible that people have to change themselves like this...
