While I want Democracy in Iran, a lot of these revolutions going on in the arab world are the results of America instilling them in order to gain more control of the arab world and really the only stronghold they do not have is Iran. It is just spreading Imperialism upon the arab world.
I wonder if you are going to make a video about Iraqi people and the Afghan people fighting for their freedom. Or that doesn't fit with your personal beliefs? freedom is freedom. Why the double standards? I haven't seen any atheist create a video, at least those who have thousands of subscribers criticizing the illegal wars (unless you believe Saddam was behind 9.11)...why is it so?
fyi, do you know that majority (70%) of the Iranians who happen to be rural people support Iranian government?
@time0is0a0myth I'm a science advocate and generally don't involve myself in politics -especially when I'm not that knowledgible on the subject. Yet I have only ever spoken praise of Iranians seeking freedom from oppression. So why do you imagine I hold other beliefs? What double-standard are you imagining here?
@AronRa then way make a video in support of the "green" revolution, inst that getting involved in politics, probably of a region that you dont know much about?
double-standards? well i dont see a video from you about those in iraq who wants the americans out, or those in afghanistan who wants the americans out? recently in afghanistan there were huge protests, many of them women, shouting "death to america"....no one seem to care about their revolution or struggle for freedom.
@time0is0a0myth I put up the video on the green revolution because I have friends and co-workers who are Iranian Muslims and they're here in the US trying to escape all that nonsense. So that's what I know about that. I am one of those people who have personally embarrassed by practically everything my country has done in the middle east over the last decade at least. But I don't care about politics enough to dedicate myself to it or comment on it beyond what I already have.

Democracy doesn't work, never in any history book will you be able to find a successful democracy

Actually for years I supported the Palestinians, totally, I tend to support the weak against the strong, but then I saw clearly the influence of religion in the greater struggle. Yes the building of new Jewish settlements is wrong and inflammatory, but the desire to see Israel pushed into the sea and all its people dead is also a wrong, perhaps a greater wrong. Perhaps I am a foreigner, and don't see as you do, but I'm not so blind as to not see the hatred through out the Middle East.

And who said I was Jewish? or a Zionist...I am the former but most definitely not the latter, and u clearly have nothing of any worth to say if the best you can do is come up with some ridiculous ad hominem attacks based on nothing and related to nothing...
Go back to your hovel of conspiratorial anti-semitism and leave the rational people to discuss things, k?
I love your stuff aronRA and I know this is CDK's video but don't we have other problems at home that could use some attention. I'm all for peace but not to be rude, that's Iran's business just like Iraq was Iraq's business. How much money do we have to maintain the status of "world police"?

Too bad our little weenie President is sitting on his hands while all this is happening. However, he HAS said that he doesn't care about the spread of democracy to other countries. After all, he is a Hussein. ;-)
Support Iran? Can anyone explain why that is so important? Especially why that is so important RIGHT NOW? The first one to acknowledge that there is more than meets the eye gets a cookie.
Because the Persians want to redecorate your house with golden curtain rods and blue drapes while wearing half buttoned gucci shirts with large golden chains. Don't forget all the over-exposed chest hair.
Power to the Iranians. But keep in mind that the religio-nuts that want to call the shots in this country (USA) wish to rule with the same iron hand that squashes the little man in Iran. Thankfully, we have a strong constitution that prevents them from their desired power grab, but the rational among us must alway be weary, must always keep a eye on the superstitious nuttos that would seek to control our very existence.
hehe but it is about Mousavi; the "freedom" is a slogan, sort of like how Obama used the rhetoric of "change" ; yet Obama still signifies the same institutions.
What's happening Iran is a power struggle between rival parties WITHIN the mainstream system.
Not the people vs. the system. There's no revolution but rather the beginnings of a civil war.
what, I didn't put that on my profile, I want to see all people have freedom, and the Persians have been opressed for so long, now they are fighting back, and I want to see them win, yes I think the USA should help as we are a nation of freedom, I think Israel and Britain should help too, we should give the Persians thier freedom and kill the opressors, and yes, it would be bloody, but as Thomas Jefferson once said, "The tree of liberty must be watered by the blood of tyrants and patriots."
A civil war is a very, very, very, very bad thing...
Though I do agree, it would be fantastic for the Iranian people to have their 'freedom', but this is not a people who had democracy taken away from them 30 years ago by the Ayatollahs...they were similarly oppressed under the Shah...
Not saying the green movement is bad, and not saying it doesn't deserve support, just asking for some perspective instead of the 'freedom hysteria' that people seem to have.
how can you help other people as a jew when you have a statement in you holy book, that the jews are sons of god and the rest whites the blacks or any other rice are here in this earth to serve the jews like dogs and pigs...
First of all, why are you commenting on this page, it's got nothing to do with any other 'ethnic group' than the persians. Jews are not involved, and if they were, there would still be no reason to post slanderous comments, all of them (without exception) misspelled.
Secondly, i'm not jewish. Just a random guy who was offended by your comment. And even if i was, that's still no reason to post vile comments on my profile. I removed them, btw.
@hammer635: I don't know which outdated, 70-years-old ideology you adhere to, but at any rate i don't share it. And i hope this ideology hasn't fucked up your worldview so much it keeps you awake long hours into the night, posting random anti-semitic comments on youtube, though i fear it already does. And i hope you don't expect people to be moved by your ramblings, as they are too short and too idiotic for anyone to find an argument in. If you want to make a point, do it in an erudite way.
World powers must start to help innocent Iranian people before it is too late, Iranian people need help now, dont leave them alone in fight for democracy..
People of Iran, we in the West would love to see a free world for ourselves too, We would love to help but you but, thanks to such lies as weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, phantom Bin Laden in Afgahnistan, we're too
broke to help you. I can only advise that instead of spreading these stories of Iran, which won't help you, accuse Ahmajinedad of Climate Change attrocities and the U.N. will be there to help you in a flash. Sorry we're too broke to help you.
By you being green, just wearing something green, you are showing these people that you care for them. These people are yearning for freedom, why so hard to understand. people get tired of living under this kind of ruling. Supporting these people , if only by watching this video, you let these people know they count in the human race. it should not matter what religion or where they are from. We are all brothers and sisters in God's eyes.
Who is thumbing me down when I said "why the green headbands. it reminds me of Hamas/Hezbollah". It is a serious question. Why the green headbands? What is the significance in Iran of the green headband and does it have any relationship to Hamas/Hezbollah. This is a serious question if anyone cares to answer.
showlink: Green = A new spring, A fresh brginning. That's what it means. Green is the color of life in Persian culture. The hezobllah green/yellow is totally different, in fact the current green movement is completely against hezbollah.
sonofcyrusthegreat - finally i have a sensible answer. totally makes sense and I didn't know about the yellow/green with hezbollah. thanks for responding.
I'm all in support of Iranians becoming free or at least more free. How does turning an icon green help though? I think we, in America at least, have become so divorced from the actual reality of what is happening all over the world right now. When was the last time anyone here risked death by standing up for what is right? The Iranians are getting messages out. Can we get them in? What do they really need, what would actually be helpful? I hate sitting on the sidelines while others die.
Even if this started out as the noblest of intentions(it may not have),by turning it into some kind of collective-consciousness meme of trivia,it is only exploiting the suffering as a pet cause.
Do you think the Iranians care about YOUR youtube icon?
Something tells me they have bigger things to trouble themselves over.
It's just more exploitation, and "feel good" time for the bored armchair-activist who considers himself "politically conscious."
"Do you think the Iranians care about YOUR youtube icon?"
As such, no. I think the idea is to spread awareness of what's going on. However ultimately, if all we do is change icons and wear green, we've accomplished nothing. Hopefully, raising awareness will raise action.
Anyone interested about these 'revolutions' should read Laughland's 'A history of political trials'. All the recent 'revolutions', like Ukraine and Georgia, and this one probably too, have been carefully orchestrated by political opposition powers. Sucks for the people. They think they'll get democracy and freedom. Instead, they get a new master who took them for a ride into office...
Orange revolution in Ukraine, Rose rev in Georgia, velvet in Czechia, etc, etc. This is manufactured feel-good outside interference. Who's really behind it all? Probably that turd Soros, with the aid of his Bildeberger chums.
I'm seriously going to stop here and ask what you people mean when you say stuff like "The US is not a free country". Are you suggesting that there are more free countries who are considered to be in the same category as the US? What is your definition of free? How can any country ever be free, are you suggesting only anarchy is freedom? How exactly is your claimed statement measured? I would like to verify its integrity so I can understand the truth here. Thanks.
Iranian people must fight for true freedom and control over their lives. The westerners' interest over Iran is focusing only on the oil pruduction and the drug trade through afganistan and not for the peoples freedom. Don't turn Iran into another puppet of the western banking system.
this green revolution, just like all other color revolution, is backed by one of the asshole nation in the world - USA.who seek to install new puppet leader that in line with the US imperialism.
having said so, i support the Iranian people for their freedom and democracy. it is time for the mullahtariat to ends just like its predecessor oppressor - the US backed Shah (which is why CDK007 is incorrect in stating only 30 years). i just hope the revolution able to stands up against the US interest.
You have such high numbers against the health care bill because of mis-information, nothing more. Propaganda machines making sure everyone thinks it'll be death to the elderly...well when everyone leaves price-gouging, coverage-denying money whores that call themselves health-care insurers and take up the public option, or when federal standards prevent insurers from being money whores and do what they say they'll do, doctors better fall in line or prepare to ask for food stamps.
I assume you aren't American. Can you accurately describe your own country as never engaging in a war on foreign soil? no? Then stfu! Learn a little history before you spout. If you live in an english speaking country, your country has invaded other countries. If you live in a spanish speaking country, your country has invaded other countries. If you live in a french speaking... well you get the damn idea.
No country has the right to invade others, but no country is innocent either
if you tell me why me turning anything green on youtube will have an effect on Iran in anyway I'll consider making mine green. I'm not even asking you to remind me why I care, just how it will do anything other than moral support.
i just had a chilling vision, because the Epa has declared C02 toxic to the environment, they will mandate all citizens and visitors to the Us will be required to wear Co2 containment masks, like the ones in this video.
it will capture the Co2 and render it harmless to the environment once it condenses on the mask.
The problem is that the Iranian govt. violently repressing dissent, awful as that is, is an internal affair. Leaving aside the international statutes on that kind of thing, any material efforts by outsiders to affect the situation will undermine the legitimacy of whatever comes out this unrest.
It stinks, but if we do anything other than bear witness, we'll ruin what the Iranian people are trying to do.
@Muljinn I see your point, but if America hadn't gone to other nations to ask for help, we would not have been victorious in our own war for independence. Our Civil war had two governments organized and fighting... without an organized government for one side or the other, that would not have been much of a struggle, either. Both sides called upon help from other nations in that war as well.
Expecting people in a nation to singularly depose their current government is not historically impossible, but victory in such cases is historically unlikely. I am not saying they need America to support their war effort in ways other than bearing witness for them to succede, but I do think they need help from someone.
A key point is that NO govt., no matter how tyrannical, can survive without the tacit acceptance of its people, whether through fear, apathy or love. The Shah ruled through fear and once the people's hate of him exceeded their fear, his days were numbered. The same thing happened to the Duvallier's in Haiti and that seems to be what's happening in Iran.
The cracks are showing, and the countdown's begun. If they don't change, the theocrats are doomed.
RoGhrianadh - True, without outside help the American Revolution would not have been successful, but you have to remember, in that case there was a singular coherent organization doing the asking. Washington et al already -were- a functioning govt. That isn't the case in Iran.
The Iranians may need help but without an official request from a group already recognized BY the Iranian people, anyone we help would be considered just a "Western puppet" which is counter productive.
Google operation Ajax I ask all the brave people in Iran to make sure they are not being led by wolves in sheeps clothing. I know nothing about whats going on because mainstream media spreads lies and Zionist propoganda so if you live in Iran please send me a message
find your original icon graphic that you used to upload to youtube when you first signed up. Use any photo editing application to render the colour of it into a base green. Then simply change your youtube icon to the new edited one. I hope this helped.
Who's up for calling it Persia again. Think of Persia what do you think of flying carpets, genies Maybe Xerxes all good stuff. Iran Fundamentalism and craziness.
Um...I'm all for freedom and democracy but what message is this video actually sending and what does it hope to achieve? I'm not saying Iran has the best leader in the world, but any change needs to come from within the country. And I think the video would have been more convincing if the "victims" weren't smiling so much?
I support the people of Iran but I'm not quick to jump on a bandwagon that could very well be the result of a spin factory trying to manufacture another war.
While I want Democracy in Iran, a lot of these revolutions going on in the arab world are the results of America instilling them in order to gain more control of the arab world and really the only stronghold they do not have is Iran. It is just spreading Imperialism upon the arab world.

I wonder if most people realize that Mousavi isn't trying to get rid of clerical rule in Iran but rather switch the power balance to other clerics
heh
Mahmood42978 2 years ago
but the point isn't about Mousavi, of whom there are many misconseptions, it is about freedom
TrekkieAtlantis 2 years ago
hehe but it is about Mousavi; the "freedom" is a slogan, sort of like how Obama used the rhetoric of "change" ; yet Obama still signifies the same institutions.
What's happening Iran is a power struggle between rival parties WITHIN the mainstream system.
Not the people vs. the system. There's no revolution but rather the beginnings of a civil war.
Mahmood42978 2 years ago
would a civil war be a bad thing, I want to see the Iranians freed:)
TrekkieAtlantis 2 years ago
No you dont, you want to see America expand it's hegemony in the region. I read your profile
and yes it would be a bad thing; people would die in LARGE numbers (hundreds of thousands) and the country would be in shambles
Mahmood42978 2 years ago
what, I didn't put that on my profile, I want to see all people have freedom, and the Persians have been opressed for so long, now they are fighting back, and I want to see them win, yes I think the USA should help as we are a nation of freedom, I think Israel and Britain should help too, we should give the Persians thier freedom and kill the opressors, and yes, it would be bloody, but as Thomas Jefferson once said, "The tree of liberty must be watered by the blood of tyrants and patriots."
TrekkieAtlantis 2 years ago
A civil war is a very, very, very, very bad thing...
Though I do agree, it would be fantastic for the Iranian people to have their 'freedom', but this is not a people who had democracy taken away from them 30 years ago by the Ayatollahs...they were similarly oppressed under the Shah...
Not saying the green movement is bad, and not saying it doesn't deserve support, just asking for some perspective instead of the 'freedom hysteria' that people seem to have.

Methelin 2 years ago
@hammer635: I don't know which outdated, 70-years-old ideology you adhere to, but at any rate i don't share it. And i hope this ideology hasn't fucked up your worldview so much it keeps you awake long hours into the night, posting random anti-semitic comments on youtube, though i fear it already does. And i hope you don't expect people to be moved by your ramblings, as they are too short and too idiotic for anyone to find an argument in. If you want to make a point, do it in an erudite way.

Yeah, never know Iran could change to a Proportional Representative (PR) democratic gov't multi party participation.
Which would make it actually more democratic than most of the anglo-american world.
I would opt for separation of church and state.

You hit the nail on the head.
PunishedByJesus 2 years ago
"Do you think the Iranians care about YOUR youtube icon?"
As such, no. I think the idea is to spread awareness of what's going on. However ultimately, if all we do is change icons and wear green, we've accomplished nothing. Hopefully, raising awareness will raise action.

All the recent 'revolutions', like Ukraine and Georgia, and this one probably too, have been carefully orchestrated by political opposition powers. Sucks for the people. this green revolution, just like all other color revolution, is backed by one of the asshole nation in the world - USA.who seek to install new puppet leader that in line with the US imperialism.
having said so, i support the Iranian people for their freedom and democracy. it is time for the mullahtariat to ends just like its predecessor oppressor - the US backed Shah (which is why CDK007 is incorrect in stating only 30 years). i just hope the revolution able to stands up against the US interest.

Muljinn 2 years ago 4
@Muljinn I see your point, but if America hadn't gone to other nations to ask for help, we would not have been victorious in our own war for independence. Our Civil war had two governments organized and fighting... without an organized government for one side or the other, that would not have been much of a struggle, either. Both sides called upon help from other nations in that war as well.
RoGhrianadh 2 years ago
Expecting people in a nation to singularly depose their current government is not historically impossible, but victory in such cases is historically unlikely. I am not saying they need America to support their war effort in ways other than bearing witness for them to succede, but I do think they need help from someone.
RoGhrianadh 2 years ago
Also true.
Muljinn 2 years ago
RoGhrianadh - True, without outside help the American Revolution would not have been successful, but you have to remember, in that case there was a singular coherent organization doing the asking. Washington et al already -were- a functioning govt. That isn't the case in Iran.
The Iranians may need help but without an official request from a group already recognized BY the Iranian people, anyone we help would be considered just a "Western puppet" which is counter productive.
