My experience with my dishwasher has been the motor locking up, I suspect the bearings are worn because if I manually get it to spin it will work awhile, but beside that, the drainer trays that the dishes are stacked on were rusting and flakes would get into the water discharge pump and lock it up. I found out that the trays (2 of them) are over a $100 each and many of the parts are priced so high that even if the washer was newer, I would have to seriously look at replacing it. :-(
@EmpowerMaui It sounds like your dishwasher is ready to be repalced. I have a video that may help you when you remove the dishwasher....check it out. Joe :0
@GoMetricToday I did replace this part & it made much more sense than replacing the dishwasher, as the dishwasher was only apprx. 6 years old. Thanks for your comments. Joe :0
@VideoJoeKnows I like your videos because I pride myself on trying to do repairs and upgrades in my home myself. When it comes to electrical I am pretty skilled at that. When I had my front porch expanded and screened in, I ran all the electricity myself. I figure by doing it myself I saved $2000. Your videos are great for the average person wanting to save a bit of money. Thank you. Bruce

Looks like it would be a pretty inexpensive part to replace. Would definitely be a lot cheaper than replacing the dishwasher.
