  • That beak is like a boomerang lol

  • lol

    :D

  • I love that lady.

    *bird bites*

    OOOOOWWWW!! Daayyyuummm!!!

  • A green Aracari ... She is a blessing, an absolute sweetheart! These two will always remain as pets. I'm considering selling Chupie to someone that is looking for a young adult male for breeding purposes. Because Chupie is only slightly tame, I believe he would much more enjoy life as a breeding male. He tends to be aggressive and my decision will be based on what's best for his well being and sustainability and happiness as a toucan ... A hard decision for me at this time as I love him so!

  • I purchased my tamed baby curl crested Aracari 'Marley' from Jerry a couple of years ago, a wonderful pet! I also purchased

  • A tamed, hand raised baby toco toucan can cost you 8k-10k ea, a keel-billed (like Chupie) tamed, hand raised baby will be +/- 7 to 8k ea. there are also channel billed, swainsons that will be a little less. Aracaris are a smaller version of toucan that are actually superb pets! I have 2 of them as pets, and they are very sweet, loving, and interactive.

  • If you want to breed toucans, be careful! Don't spend a fortune for a male and a female and just expect that they will automatically accept ea other and become a successful breeding pair! It is a 50/50 chance that they will match up for ea other. You would be best to buy a 'proven' breeding pair from an experienced breeder. That is a costly investment. As pets, the larger toucans are the most expensive

  • Search for his site on the web ... There are more toucan breeders in CA and surrounding states, but not as experienced or involved. You can also

  • Jerry Jennings of Emerald Forest Bird Gardens in CA is an expert toucan breeder, activist, and conservationist. He has done this for 30 years with all of the appropriate licensing and intentions for preservation of toucans, aracaris, toucanets, and many more exotic birds.

  • Plus if you have that many in one cage, it better be a HUGE cage .. About the size of a bedroom! They definitely have to have room to take short flight, exercise and remain comfortable and stress free in their environment. I'm not a breeder, never have done so, but I have asked many, many questions of reputable breeders about that very topic ... Breeding, housing, mate compatibility etc

  • If they are all still very young, not near their breeding age, you could house them all in one cage, but as they get closer to that maturity age, then you will start to see some serious fighting amongst them ... Male against male for the female or even just to be top bird; the female may actually be the aggressor at one or both, leading to full blown rejection which is not a good outcome for either male if you want to inevitably have a breeding pair.

  • To Kjck22 - sorry so long getting back to you re: your question about 2 males in 1 cage ... Toucans mature to breeding age at approx 3-4 years old, males and females alike

  • The ending was like something out of a horror movie.

  • That bird had enough.

  • Wake up next to this in bed.....What the hell did I do at video game club last night??

  • Hahaha, sounds like the Predator before he attacks the camera! "Do it now! Kill me, I'm here, do it!"

  • guy: you have to get him some ??? (pie?) ever since!

    toucan: ATTACK!

  • Exotic wildlife should banned from personal ownership.

  • Jeez! He scaed the crap out of me when he hit the camera!

  • @BeakHoldingLetterMan ... *scared

  • Along the lines of "Would you get that bloody camera out of my face" I felt that and in a way it made me chuckle proves we are not the only ones who can claim to have personailty's. :)

  • Looks like he followed YOUR nose,LOL!!

  • When that thing bites it really hurts !

  • toucan:FUS RA DAAAA

  • Papaya?! I HATE PAPAYA -tries to break camera-

  • WHERES MY GODDAMN PAPAYA

  • gezz god thats a HUGE bird

  • i have a quick Q on toucans, how big of a cage do you need for them, can you keep a male with a male even if there is a female and are you a breeder plz repnd asap. thank you

  • aww, hes such a pretty birdie

  • lmao! good job tooky

  • OWNED!

  • I wish we had Toucans in Norway.. DAMN YOU NORTH

  • toucan fuke u bich

  • how the fuck did you get a toucan LOL

  • That bird's all like; FUCK YO SHIT

  • maybe it thought it was a gun

  • The camera got beak slapped XD

  • The toucan is in danger of extinction tropical forests. Contrabandists in jail! not the traffic of animals

  • @alesssandroandrade

uhm.. no it's not. It's as much in danger of extinction as the pigeon is.

  • @spl0uf i'm brasiliam. the pigeons is plague in the plantations, but the tucans are disappearing of forests. Many baby animals die during a trip madeby smugglers. If your pet does not come from traffic, It's all right

  • 2 questions;

    is Dr. Phil your husband?

And whats a bite from one of them feel like?..

  • lol

GET THAT CAMERA OUTA MY FACE!

  • I like that she got hert

  • @toucanmama Is this the only video you have of your toucan? I would love to see more! I've been doing a lot of research at Emerald Forest Bird Garden and I genuinely want a toucan. (probably a Chestnut-mandibled toucan.) I'm saving up for a cage right now. It'll probably be a few years until I can afford one, but I'm sure it's worth it, right? :)

  • I love the guy in the background.

    Bird: "SQWAK!"

    Guy: "Shutup!"

  • @TheOzzeetantrum - yeah, I realized that too! hahahaha It's my son yelling at the little bird in the living room.

  • dude awesome bird Tucans rule....but I would not trust it near my crutch

  • no papaya for you tonight ehehe

  • Hey u have the same hamper I have =D

  • theyre kinda scary

  • Question: How hard does a toucan bite?

    Where did you get him?

    What did he cost?

  • @Aurux40215 - you can email me at cearacari@aol.com & I'll give you that info

  • Does he ever eat your Froot Loops, sorry I had to ask that hee hee

  • @dorourke105 - Actually, they do eat fruit, but not fruit loops :) Cereal or snacks can harm toucans. They don't eat seeds either. They have a special diet pellet + non-citrus fruits they should eat. I must say though, most birds would know what they can & cannot eat when they pick it up with their beaks ... however, a toucan will eat anything they can swallow - anything, even things sharp, poison, non-digestible, all of which can kill them. :)

  • @toucanmama

    don't forget low-iron diet! haha.

My dream is a toco when i get my own house...and a couple extra grand laying around :)

  • @toucanmama Lies. Anyone not working on THEIR side knows that toucans feed exclusively on the flesh of the innocent.

  • @dorourke105 LOLOL

  • oh man when he turns to the side... that stare.. and that beak that just goes on and on... he's so amazingly beautiful, but I feel intimidated by him also.

  • story cont .. Well, that 1st night I put Chupie in the basket & covered it with a thin blanket & waited to see if he'd relax & stay in it. So I waited, WOW! no movement, he must love it! I am so happy he's taking to the basket like Tecate did! So about 3 mins later, I lifted the blanket just enough to peek in & check on him, AND SMACK @$!&*! no sooner than I could even focus on him, like a snake, he struck me right btwn the eyes!! OUCH! Needless to say, he doesn't sleep in the basket!

  • @toucanmama Well, Mr. Chupie sounds like a fairly fiery feathered freind who runs things and who will make you understand that! So, did he sort of pick out his own bed? Chupie mean business

  • Funny Story .. Ever get God-Smacked?? I did!

Previously I owned a chestnut eared aracari (small toucan) that slept in a basket by our feet each night. Unfortunately, when I got Tecate he already had stiff feet w/ gout, & after 2 years, he lost his battle with Uric Acid (Gout) blood poisoning. I still grieve over him ... So soon after, I got this bird 'Chupie', he was 7mos & not tame. No-matter, I was hoping to tame him to sleep in Tecate's basket too! It was so cute!!!! ... cont...

  • Is that Dr. Phil in the background?

  • @samaanOG - I can't tell, but it probably was! My husband gets home just before it goes off. I like that show, but now that programming changed about a month ago, Judge Judy is priority over Dr Phil for me! :) A

  • Absolutely gorgeous creature-and funny, too. He has you cooing about how pretty he is, and then he clocks you in the noggin-for no apprent reason, just cuzz he can, haha. And don't you forget whose boss: he follows his nose, and you beter, too.

  • @rmsolympic1 - Oh yeah, his real weapon is his beauty for sure! He reels you in, and then !#@!!*%$! I have the funniest story about him though .. a real lesson to me! I'll post it above. :) A

  • @toucanmama Well, before you post that story, you better check with brother Toucan; he might wup your behind for wiki-leaking him! Once again, he's unbelievably beautiful.

  • @rmsolympic1 - Oh no, I'm sure he'd back me up on this one... :) I'll post it next. :)

  • did he bit you

  • @Griffinmovies123 On this video, he got the camera (no damage). But YES! he has snatched me many times with the sharp tip of his beak, then shakes vigorously .. it hurts too! Many people say "Oh, toucans cannot bite hard or hurt you", thats an untruth! He is my pet, but these larger toucans can get an attitude if & when they feel like it, and they do! I still love him & handle him a lot, but I certainly respect the power & potential they have! Thanks! A :)

  • Interesting how he uses that bill like a baseball bat to swat you.

    Pretty bird though.

  • @basspig - He doesn't actually hit with the outside of his bill, he directly bites. Toucans can strike about as fast as a snake. Chupie does leave bruises & scratches when he bites hard enough. These large ones can actually break a toddlers finger if they get a good grip & the child cannot get his hand back quickly enough. I don't allow anyone to pet him because he'll bite anyone he doesn't know. I've come a long way with him, he was'nt tame when I got him @ 7mos old. He's 2 1/2 now. :)

  • @toucanmama Sounds like real devotion on your part, to accept all the quirks and dangers of owning a Toucan. My Parrot Place contact told me that Toucans are also messy to clean up after, due to their fruit diet. Probably one of the most difficult birds to live with and care for. But certainly a very beautiful bird, and I'm sure that for you, it's been worth every moment.

  • @basspig - I am very devoted :) And your friend is right about the mess! The difference is dry vs wet food .. toucans MUST have fresh fruit daily, depending on size, 1-2 cups diced (papaya, banana, blueberries, pear, grapes, mango, melon, NO CITRUS). They also have to have a low-iron pellet, like Mazuri ZooLife Low Iron, for their protein/vitamine suppl daily. And because they bathe in their water, it wets the waste paper below & can really smell if not changed daily. :) A

  • @toucanmama That's an expensive diet! Not to mention the labor of preparing it all specially for the bird. But seeing the beautiful toucan, it's no surprise that all the effort is worth it.

  • @basspig - Yeah, he's worth it. We live in FL so we grow our own papayas (the main fruit in their diet.) The 15lb bag of pellets is about $50 and it lasts about 6 mos, & you don't have to have a mix of every fruit in his bowl daily .. he mainly gets papaya, banana, apple & grapes. That's no prob, but rain, shine, sick, or well, you have to cut their fruit & feed them every day. I also have a new young curl crested aracari. He is cuddley, chupie is not. Aracaries are the best choice for a pet.

  • @basspig - They are bonded w/ the care giver(s). If I leave the room for more than 30 secs, 'Chupie' croaks like an everglades bullfrog until I walk back in the room (except for night when he's perched to sleep). I am flattered by him missing me, but damn! Everytime I leave! ha!ha! :) When we travel, we have to take him with us because of his diet needs & attachment to us - birds can get stressed easily, & I believe Chupie would. I could get someone to care for him, but it's a lot of care.

  • @toucanmama My cockatiel does the same thing (co-dependant), only he tweets when I go out of sight. Spends most of his time on my shoulders and arms. Typing with a bird on your forarm is a cumbersome process!

FL is the right climate for the Toucan. Great that you can grow some of the food for him!

  • how much does this cost?

  • @giorgos11235 This is a Keel-Billed Toucan, aka Rainbow Billed Toucan. Range in cost from 5k to 7k. 2 smaller breeds of toucans, Aracari and Toucanet. These look like miniature toucans and cost between 1k and 4k.

  • My toucan likes to try and attack my camera too. They are such wonderful critters, very curious about things.

  • @AshenIdol Yes they are! But lately, my little guy is becoming aggressive and it's getting difficult to handle him without getting scarred up. I'm working with him every day so I hope he settles down some. Thanks!
