When I was in high school, my friends and I played Star Trek: The Role Playing Game. We used the Lexington as our base of operations. Thank you for these videos! It's like a homecoming 20 years later!
Beautiful CGI work on those "Awesome" starships! I'm wondering,.......which starship is the sister-ship for the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701(refit)? Anyways, thanks for posting this "Great" clip!
Lexington was not destroyed in "The Ultimate Computer" Excalibur's entire crew was killed and ship was wrecked. Remeber, Comodore Wesley commanded the remaining task force of Lexington, Hood, and, Potemkin all of which were damaged by M-5. Then Wesley called off attack when M-5 dropped the Enterprise shields.
For nokiea5300: M-5 was a muti-tronic computer designed by Richard Daystrom. It's purpose was to coordinate all fuctions of a starship and allow the ship to deploy with a crew of 20.
The M5 prototype computer system was put onboard Enterprise. It's creator Dr. Daystrom, was testing M5 to see how well the system could run an entire StarShip, and how it would perform under all situations, from meeting other vessels to being under attack. M5 was a huge failure. Watch "The Ultimate Computer" Star Trek's origional series.
I vote they make a show called Star Trek: Sovereign that follows the crew of the USS Sovereign because we didnt really see much of the Enterprise - E. btw, what is the song from???
for anyone who doesn't know the lexington was actually in star trek and her crew (IF it's the one am thinking of....) was destroyed during that test with the M5 or so. Entire crew.
The music comes from the 2005 movie Poseidon - a remake of the 1972 The Poseidon Adventure. Interestingly enough, the boy who plays Connor in the 2005 movie - Jimmy Bennett also plays the part of the young James T. Kirk in the new Star Trek movie.
Absolutely phenominal my friend! The music point from 1:53 to 2:04 really sent my pulse running, and The music point from 2:22 to 2:34almost made me spring a leak in the tear duct department! But other than that, brilliant choice of trailer music, and fantastic series! Can't wait to see it when it comes out!
If I may offer some constructive criticism, you should cut the beginning down. There's like 20 seconds of dead space before the trailer REALLY begins (I include the green screen this is approved for all audiences in this 20 seconds).
VERY impressive! The effects are great - probably some of the best of the fan-made movies. Except for the shot inside Spacedock. That was just woefully bad. Terrible lighting.
Maybe fix the brightness of the Excelsior nacelle glow... which in that era didn't actually glow. If you did want to keep it - go for a darker blue. Otherwise GREAT! :)
Acoording to the the old series there were 13 orginal starships like the Enterprise.Constitution class ships. My brother has the Star Trek Encyclopedia.Ya I admit it we are both Star Trek geeks, lol!
I love this trailer. The ships feel like they have mass, especially in that last cut when the ship is at warp. Also the little details like the way the ships move, and lens flare. Really love this stuff and can't wait till the episode comes out.
I don't know if a starship named Lexington was destroyed in First Contact. Star Trek Lexington is set in Kirk's era, about 100 years before Picard's time. It's a updated Constitution class, likely the same on that was in the episode The Ultimate Computer (ST:TOS).
It sounds great. Haven't heard it before; is it a new composition or did you take it from somewhere else? I understand that a few fan films or RPG's have original music written for them.
Not once. But in tech manuals that's what they're called.
From Wikipedia:
The word 'nacelle' is derived from the Old French nacele, which means a small boat or dinghy, which was in turn derived from the Latin navicella. The term is commonly used in aviation, nautical and spacecraft design, to refer to a covered housing (separate from the fuselage) that holds engines, fuel, or equipment.
The word Nacelles was used on two separate occasions in TOS. I don't remember when but I do believe once was by scotty and once was by either spock or kirk.
I loved this video. It's on my bookmarks on firefox and I listen to it about 10x a day and just imagine the potential. The Constitution class(refit) will always be my favorite starship.
Lexington looks a lot like Star Trek with digital enhancements. Angelina Jolie as Science Officer and Jon Voight as Capitan... Jean Luc performs Shakespeare I've heard. Full supporting cast. Anyways I'm putting on Serenity now. I hate the way progtammed River doesn't get more than ten seconds to take out the nasty Reavers but that's life.
Had a question. The music for the trailer, I know it's from another movie but it goes very well with trailer and I bet it would go great with your opening, do you think you are going to use it. I hope so.
Excellent quality effects. Now you just need the ultimate touch for realism - some sunlight reflections off the windows. I've only seen this done once, in the Lost in Space movie (as the ship was leaving earth) a few years back.
Great footage! Now, just as long as the Captain is not a dipstick like Capt. Harrimond (?) of the Enterprise "B"!! How the hell did he ever get to command of the Enterprise!!!
the video looks awesome, i hope that your gonna use sets of the bridge and so on instead of green screen. cause green screen like other fan films, ruin the atmosphere
Excellent meshes, and -really- fantastic music. My only crit would be the blue on the warp effect is a bit too 'solid' and the ships are a little static. I prefer the slow whale-like movements of TWOK to DS9 episodes, don't get me wrong, but it very much feels the ship only goes in a straight line. Maybe she needs to do some turns or something?
