I love the way Alber maintains the spirit of Jeanne, and her robe de style, through the fit of the clothing. It is in this way which these clothes could be worn by someone 20, someone 40, someone 60, and someone 80. These clothes are not just for the wearer, but for all those who are privileged the presence of someone so beautifully dressed. I adore the exuberant use of colour, too! The complexity of the surface decoration, a trademark of Jeanne, is stunning.

I have to disagree about the table cloth comment. One has to pay attention to the human form to achieve such drapery well. And the bunched, bejeweled details are what makes it so interesting and original.

And the fact is, even if someone else CAN do it, he IS doing it right now. That step makes a big difference.

2:45 - HOW is the bodice of that dress done?! It defies fabric and gravity. :48 is pure Jeanne - she did a similar dress in her career. This collection raised a curiosity - HOW do you do that to fabric? The strength was technique and technicality, which made the collection intriguing. However, Alber says he would like to see overweight people? Please - the model at :48 is clearly in need of help. It's even more apparent in photos, and detracts from the clothing. It's cruel - no more.

It's a little disconcerting that Alber says he wants realness and to see wrinkles and overweight people when his looks are all displayed on tall, very thin models. I understand that his collection still has to fit the market or he won't sell clothing... but that doesn't seem quite right while he's talking about realness.

I see where you think that, but what i think he meant was that he wants his clothes to appeal to women of all ages, sizes etc. Not many designers now a days make clothing that wont look flattering unless your 6 feet and 130 pounds. He does....but then again look at him. im sure he understands how hard it is to find beautiful, fitting clothes. And thats whats so great about him. He makes clothes for all women. (If you can afford it) Any one can look great in his clothes, skinny or not.

I agree, and it makes me find his designs less admirable. It's one thing to say that, and another to follow through. He is powerful, and could put older models on the podium(and how fantastic would these clothes look on some of the supermodels or even the Mugler and Gaultier favorite Carmen, at 72). Alber wants reality? Then stop promoting such an unattainable image.
