Hey everybody. If you couldn't get enough of this guy's open-mouth-gum-smacking Synthi demo, then stay tuned for his latest creations where he demonstrates a Blue Meanie 2600 while clipping his toenails and a vintage Serge modular while on the toilet. Awesome!
Man, that sound is so beautiful I could just listen to it all day, it never ever becomes boring. You can put that thing into a repeating sequence but it's like it always evolves.
Jarre used a ton of Synthi sounds in Oxygene (and Equinoxe). He is one of the Synthi virtuosos in the world - check out the 'Ricochet' sounds in Oxygene 2.
Wow!!! This is one heavily modified Synthi, can I mention that the KS comes out of the lid, turn the lid upside down, and mount the keyboard on the outside. It's then much easier to program and play.
dont use much digi stuff, but most modular synths produce a better sound. for a grand look at what you can buy today (doepfer etc) people get sentimental over stuff like EMS good in its day, try plugging the keyboard into it and playing it, out of tune big time. used to have one but threw it off a cliff.....

i bet you make techno or some other type of mindless dance music. the aks is an instrument for serious composers. i suggest you listen to what conrad schnitzler did with it in the 70s, which sounds incredible.
this synth does the strangest shit of any synth ever...it's truly a marvel...that patch bay is fookin' sick !!

Sounds like an episode of Dr Who from 1969! Love the AKS & VCS simply for the weird sound possibilities.

Nice video showing you don't understand what you're doing and how the Synthi is working...

actually EMS still exists and is still manufacturing VSCs/Synthi's. The waitlist is rather lengthy, however.

i was talking about it being overpriced today.... moogs are much better ;-)

Your synthi sounds fantastic! The sound of you chewing your gum with your mouth open is kinda gross, though.
gregdude92 4 years ago
there are about 4 different things wrong with what was said 2 comments back.
the AKS was somewhat affordable, in comparision to other synths of the day, it only cost about 1200 dollars.
It was not overpriced. People bought them, didn't they?
it IS capable of producing steady and musical tones, as heard on "On the Run" by Pink Floyd. That is where you can hear it's sequencing magic.
Useless? You must be one of those Digi guys... D:
mmwislogical 5 years ago
No not digi guys just talentless uncreative basterds who want everything done for them with crap thin sounding VST's

The EMS Synthi A (AKS),the most expensive, overpriced sound effects generator in the world. Looks cool, but in truth it is quite useless.

do you also have a minimoog? That'd be another nice vid.

Oh, is this a newer aks? Or a vintage?

cool.. now how about some fat pink floyd style drones?
phlizmo 5 years ago
Oh, and I really appreciate this video. I don't mean to sound like a jerk or ungratful. Btw, what delay is that?
sleestack 5 years ago
Fine, delay. Oops. It would be wonderful to hear it dry. There is a lack of vids on the net of synthis.
sleestack 5 years ago
bummer he used reverb. Takes away from hearing the synth.
