  • We were all better off 30 to 40 years ago with music, the environment, politics, jobs, money, etc.But in music we find our sanity to survive the world and its craziness. If it doesn't improve

it will cause society to break apart.

  • Motown music was great... catchy, danceable, fun, and--*gasp*--pretty clean! At least compared to today's dance music, which is typically about blow jobs and whatnot.

  • i love how you can every instrument and how they recorded it..... why cnt we have that nowadays?

  • @ziraabah im learning about music production and doing some recording with equipment myself lately. Ive found that alot of newer instruments and synths are very sonically rich and fight for space, where as they had basic instruments and used mono recordings for each one.

  • Pure Class.

amen ALL KNOWING REVEREND NORMAN EDWARD VAIL

  • Comment removed

  • @NormanEdwardVail marvin gaye isn't a band dumb ass he is a singer. n he sings 6000x better than that clown from ccr who "hoid" it through the grapevine.

  • ccr does it much better....AMEN REVEREND NORMAN EDWARD VAIL

  • Awesome!

  • 4 people heard it through the applevines

  • I listen to a lot of new stuff, but I enjoy a bit of old music here.

  • this has a awesome beat!

  • Everytime I hear this I think I've died and gone to heaven. How far backwards has the industry gone? In 40 years we went from fully orchestrated soulful pop to bimbos like Kanye West running around thinking they're the voice of a generation writing class-B cheap poetry and stealing other people's music to put it to.

  • @theatlantisrise well i agree with the industry thing but i know kanye can be a asshole and egotistic but other people are like that. He still make great music like the one called OTIS with jay z and many more. Plus i believe people from the past stole others music into their song too. i may be a kanye fan but i still like the classics too.

  • Thank God for Marvin Gaye. That voice is heaven sent. Read somebody who said Creedence Clearwater Revivals was the best version of this song. I immediately called him out for that idiotic comment and almost cried..to think that someone could say that just makes me want to break stuff. Don't worry Marvin, we all know how amazing you are/were...and CCR can never remake that.

  • @abriggs234 Ok, for everyone who cares...I'm the one who wrote the "idiotic" comment. However, music is all about preference. I prefer CCR's version, but that doesn't mean I don't like Marvin Gaye's version, which is great as well. I'm sorry if you have problems with accepting other people's tastes. You might as well break stuff, because I like the CCR version, and I don't care WHAT you think.

(PS: I'm a girl. You better not be a sexist, either.)

  • Four people listened to "Here, My Dear" and got butthurt.

  • My fave version

  • id like to put a grapevine up your ass

  • People say believe half of what you see,

Son, and none of what you hear....

  • absolute banger wasnt around to hear this but this was my fathers fav song and my memories of him are in this song :)

  • The 4 that hit dislike must be from a time machine from the 1600's or something. Can't think of any other excuse.

  • 4 people are death

  • must have been smoking them

  • SWAG

  • AWESOME

  • gladys did it best! followed by creedence THEN marvin. sorry folks

  • @forwardmotion22 - On a scale of 1 to Motown, Marvin is at Motown, and the other two are somewhere in the middle. Your personal opinion has no meaning here when you realize that this song, when preformed by Marvin Gaye, is considered to be the greatest Motown song of all time and he recorded it a month before Gladys did. When Marvin's version was released, it outsold Gladys and stayed at number 1 on the R&B charts for a week longer, and that is not one's opinion, but the majority speaking.

  • 4 people dislike... i hope they have a good excuz !! maybe shit in ears ... ^^

  • Marvin Gaye was cute!!lol

  • like if youre still listening to this in 2011

  • @Aerosmithfan8 What can I say it's a legendary song.

  • @Aerosmithfan8 Nah man im on the planet Zork and its 4555

  • @CallMeKoga We don't need to bring hate to videos like this. We all know that "like me" comments suck, but we can just thumb them down and move on. No bad feelings towards you but if you got angry while commenting they have a little replay button up top just for you :p

  • @Aerosmithfan8 have some creativity and make a comment worth reading. I get so fucking sick of seeing "thumbs up if you're listening to this in 2011" no fucking shit we're still listening to it. shut the fuck up.

  • @EpicChick5 you need to take a chill pill, but then again I had a laugh reading that, thanks!

  • this shit is the fkn best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • good shit

  • This is my favorite song!! What's not to like about it??? O.o

  • Marvin Gaye has to be the sexiest black male singer. No, I am not gay. I miss this music so much. Instead, we are being force fed with Jewcifer's/Illuminati brain washing computer assisted singing crap now.

  • he its just a law in the cosmos that aldo most of us like the light of day, others prefer the dodge shade of the grapevine like them 2 dislike votes
