I have heard people have problems getting 10.4 to install on SSDs. How did you do it? Could you post a tutorial? Also how is the SSD holding up to Tiger, that is Tiger doesn't have official support for an SSD so the random reads and writes would kill it faster than say 10.6 would.
@henkdegoudvis: my point was to compare the difference between 4 years newer machine with stock guts and an older upgraded machine. Both "top of the line".
Time from "chime" sound to screen activation is time needed to load firmware. Even there Clamshell is faster.
I need SSD for my PB and it will get 1.8" Intel G2 soon.
Yeah, I know that it's not worth it from financial POV, but TBH I don't give a *$%^# about it ;)
I think you should point out that SSD's are totally incompatible with interface of G3 laptops like the G3 clamshell.
Whilst it will boot up initially it gets corrupted in the process.
The corruption's are accumulative and Inevitably it will get so corrupted it won't boot up at all.
So it's a nice Idea but only use SSD's on G4's

This is the first video where they realized that not all graphite models are special edition. Nice job figuring that out!

SSD can make any computer fast. Im thinking instead of upgrading an outdated computer might as well just upgrade to an ssd.

@ausio309:
none of my apps on PB starts at log in. How they could affect boot time then? ;)

For some reason the G3 Macs start up very fast.

:) yeah looks like my clamshell :)
Are you using an adapter for the ssd?
QuakerNMR 1 year ago
as everyone can tell you have alot more applications on the powerbook so there for very unfair
ausio309 1 year ago
it's such an unfair race. Because you have the ssd in the clamshell.
