  • He's right, US can KEEP their Blue Cross, I owe my Childs Life to our great NHS she was in Hospital twice total 21 days, came home safe, total cost to my Family NIL£, she probably would have Died in USA, Plus we have BUPA etc if you want it aswell! Keep it up Michael make US folk realise they are being ripped off by US Govt but pay $3+Billion every year to Israel to Murder Palestinian Civilians!

  • The time has come for Free energy to be revealed ,But a few ppl make too many billions from our energy needs to let this technology be known,Get a REAL working magnet motor at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Join the energy revolution!

  • The communist Boogieman is a Creation of the CIA, FBI, and the Weapons Industry...

it always has been and always will be... And so it is with demonizing HealthCare...

the Insurance industry does not want it... so it's the Boogieman... and Stupid people willl believe it all to the final distruction of the United States

  • you tube fuckin stinks,at once i could play this whole sicko film to anyone around the world. Now u tube, because it has been refused a licence to charge u tubers has been refused,it resorts to milked down american oppressed snips. This was a vital democratic way of sharing views, wether you liked it or not.You tube have sold their soles FUCKIN SHAME ON YOU

  • The British people not only prefer their healthcare, they are sickened by the American system. It is an affront to humanity.

  • most canadians are not dissatisfied with the health care some might complain a bit but none of us would trade it for an american system

  • 86% of canadians really like our care. most canadians would never want a private system ever . so i dont see where all this hate comes from .

  • Thankyou Mr. Moore, we need more Americans like you! Keep on Rockin in a Free World and saying what needs to be said, and pushing what needs to be done.

  • michael moore is so awsome!

i would love to meet him!

  • @GOLDDIVA23 So would I. Great dinner conversation.

  • It's true - Canadians would NEVER trade their national health insurance for an American one. And, it's not a question of better/ worse doctors or hospitals - they're the same. It's just a different billing system - and a differing ideology around the issues involved.

  • im moving to vermont!

  • after 9/11 they said they had put aside $50 million to help the volunteers with any problems they came up with after helping since they volunteered.. then they said they wouldn't help them since they were not employees of of the government. all they care about is padding their pockets no matter what the cost.. or who's life it costs as long as its not their lives

  • ur an ignorant bastard too proud of urself as an american

  • id rather live in cuba 100% americans think ther the best country in the world, what u have done in the past 100 years is ruin other countries like iraq and afghanistan. bush is a retard and u guys pay for ur health insurance, i dont think that u realize how stupid that is. just look at europe

  • apart from almost wipe out the native american race and for 400+ years lynch black people, you've done a pretty good job of things ;)

  • Haha good one. But so true.

  • he's right, i'm a Brit and i am very displeased with out national health system...however i would rather have it this way than not have it at all.

  • No system is perfect, but would you say it's worth having?

  • if the reporter doesnt think the americans r getting things from cuba illeagally his a bit stoned. how about why the 911 workers needed to go to cuba in the first freaking place. Really cuba who gives a fuck about it. I have AMERICANS suffering cause they went down to help other HURT PEOPLE on 9-11 shame on you nightline. No balls at all!!!!!!!!!

  • and whats worse we called them HEROS and yet the GOV just said "your not on our pay role so no help with health care for you" Now really who calls people HEORS and then treats them like shit.

  • Please call the White House everyday for HR676 Universal Health Care and jamm the Lines and emails 202-456-1414 Please 500 people will DIE today in the USA all because they have no health care they are being ERASED >18,000 a Year !

  • The problem is our medical care system is run to make profit. In order have universal healthcare in this country we have to change the system to not for porfit healthcare.

  • So to you Cubans, would you REALLY not trade your healthcare system for America's?

  • the cubans are one of the smartes people in the universal. back in cuba we have no freedom , but we have free care. free education. one of the best of the world.

  • i was born in cuba. evreyone knows how to read and write. free haeltcare system. one of the best in the world. god bless amrica.

  • Thanks You Michael -

  • it's a pity your old man didn't settle for a blow job

  • Interesting that the reporter talks about repression of dissent in Cuba and then in the next breath talks about the Bush administration investigating Moore ("fighting back against the filmmaker") - totally biased reporting, but Moore's message still comes through.

  • Oh my god. How do you resist such manipulation in your media? My cousin (american) had to come to europe for gave birth, because she hasn´t money. Americans are crazy?

  • obviously they had money if they went to europe retard.

  • Cost of a flight to europe 600$

cost to give birth to a child:$2,500 for ob/gyn care (including ultrasounds, lab tests, everything) and about $6,000 for the hospital bill.

    ask asshole, ask.

  • woulda been cheaper to goto canada or just goto an american hospital and say "I dont have money" because if you dont have money, theyll still serve you especially if giving birth.

    Stop making up lies, asshole.

Either your lying or your entire family is retarded, honestly.

it also makes sense to get healthcare lolz

  • They serve you, thats no mean is free. You don´t have money right now, ok, you have one year plus interest.

At the same time I say that the cost is not only open the legs, and the baby comes.Even giving birth were free, thats only a small part of the combined cost of giving birth.

Going to canada is cheaper... it depends where you live, sometimes is cheaper flight where your family lives.

    "Stop making up lies, asshole."

Ok. Another neonazi black metal group? You have to improve a a lot.

  • no actually everyone else picks up the cost if someone cant pay. Even hillary clinton admits this.

My band isnt neonazi or black metal dumbass haha

where the hell did you pull neo nazi out of? your ass?

"I GOTTA PROVE IM NOT A STUPID ASSHOLE WHO MAKES UP SHIT, I GOTTA BE QUICK WITH THE RACIST THING!"

  • You have to be homeless for that.

Talk with your mom. Oh i forget. She is probably republican. She never join with black people. That's the reason your are neonazi. What another angry band talking about darkness... What's the matter...OBAMA?

My band isnt neonazi or black metal, mom... yeah son your band is only crap.

  • no you dont have to be homeless idiot, ive known people who have gotten it free and they had a house.

You dont even know what republicans are. and republicans freed the slaves, while democrats fought to keep slavery.

Im a libertarian you uneducated twit.

Which in turn, cant make me a neonazi. Get your head out of the gutter

    My band rules.

  • you seemreally concided and i dont want people like you in our country

  • blow me.

  • another fine reason why i dont want people like you in our country. i didn't even have to do anything.

  • blow me and dont waste the goodies.

  • so ur saying in america, u can just say "i dont have the money" even if u have assets to pay for it. and its free? well there u go u dont need healthcare reform everyone can just say "sorry i dont have the cash" well sitting on a 1/2 million dollar home n not pay a dime!

  • you have to show them financial records proving that you cant pay....

  • It's not that easy. And if you have cancer or something like that it doesn't matter if you don't have money they still won't treat you.

  • Republicans also voted against the civil rights bills.

Political winds shift. The democratic party started out as the small government party. The republican party when first formed, gave buttloads of stuff away to the people. Oklahoma land rush, expansion of railroads, free the slaves.

Yet, they voted against stuff that will make people equal. Such as blacks and now gays.

Again, political winds shift. The democratic party of the 1800's isn't the democratic party we have today.

  • obviously you havent watched sicko so you really shouldn't be commenting about this video. this a reply to your idiotic comments you posted 3 months earlier, not your latest uneducated comments :)

  • blow me and ill put a michael moore mask on while you do it.

  • u a idiot if u believe in the healt care in usa. I will never trade my system for ur cause i care about healt.

  • I dont believe in the USA's healthcare either, I think what Stossel said about insurance is right. Look up "sick in america"

  • I ve been to CUBA. It was really funny. Fidel converted most of the mansions owned by the cuban americans to schools and hospitals. Fucking excellent. Fuck Baptista!! VIVA CUBA!! CUBA LIBRE!!

  • As a Cuban American who supports the embargo and has to exiles as parents I can honestly say this man is talking out of his ass concerning personal freedoms in Cuba. Probably only saw the nice tourist zones Castro has set up on the island.

  • The study found that 80% of FOX viewers believed any ONE of the three. 45% believed all three. Still way too high, but what you said was not correct.

  • Hello! need Health care In Indiana/ can't afford it because property tax's, income tax's went through the roof- and the govenment tossed me out the door.

  • Go to Mexico to buy medicine its the same at a much better price.

  • lol, i broke my arm and wrist in 6 places here in England. i had a 4 hour surgery and am still undergoing physiotherapy, and i have no idea whatsoever what it all cost, but i did have a 3 hour wait in A&E.

  • The US health care system is a joke. I go to Mexico for all my drugs since prescription companies charge so much here. Good I don't call myself an American. I'm always considered myself a Mexican.

  • Mexican drugs may be cheaper, but the healthcare system is far worse than America's. The World Health Organization ranked the US healthcare system number 37 in the world. Mexico was number 61.

  • I wonder if it occured to Michael Moore that the U.S gov't providing healthcare for 300 million Americans would be more complicated than providing healthcare for just 11 million Cubans? Most European countries have less than 20 million people. It's alot easier for gov'ts to provide these types of services for smaller populations.

  • I paid $7 grand a year for 17 years and they gave me VIOXX for arthritis when I had cancer it was BSBC in TENNESSEE

  • but theres 300 million Americans paying taxes here and there only 11 million Cubans paying taxes over there

  • i've been working for doctors for ten years..and trust me america...patients are JUST A NUMBER TO DOCTORS..JUST A NUMBER, and the number must get higher and higher...

  • The best in the 3rd world, enough said. I would take the shittiest of the 1st world any day.

  • True, but the US isn't a third-world country. It's the one of the richest countries in the world.

  • You know what, I agree.........but he should compare US with the European countries or even China. I would never take Cuba as the role model.

  • who are the actual people that are criticizing moore's rant about the US health care? to say that our health care system is great or better than other countries are either filthy rich or dirt poor...US health care really truely sucks!!!

  • Looks like Nightline wasn't interested in Sicko or it's content, whether it's legitimate, etc. They'd rather analyze Michael Moore. Who cares about him when US health care sucks!

  • I'm for national health care, BUT THE CLINTONS' PLAN - KEEPING *ALL* THE PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES INVOLVED - WOULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE BUREAUCRATIC *DISASTER* - AND PEOPLE COULD *STILL* HAVE BEEN DENIED PAYMENT FOR INDIVIDUAL INSTANCES!

ONE *GOOD* UNIVERSAL SINGLE PAYER PUBLIC NATIONAL HEALTH CARE PLAN FOR *ALL* CITIZENS IS THE ONLY WAY TO BEGIN.

And then we use what works best in other universal national health care countries and skip any shortcomings.

  • do you know where that study was published...thanks

  • nice vid...if you like football, check out this high schooler from HAWAII type "stutzmann"

  • i am italian, we definitely DONT have an excellent Health Care System, but still is free. US suck

  • MICHAEL MOORE FOR PRESIDENT

  • I'm a Canadian... our Health Care is not good but I would NEVER trade my health care card with Blue Cross card or a Humana card

  • even on FOX this year on the show HOUSE(MD) hugh laurie says if its two thing castro knows its how to look good in green and how to train doctors. everyone in latin america knows that

  • fox sucks big time. why not listen to Moore and question the system so we can make it better? If Moore was from Norway, he would be a national hero for his patriotism.

  • I live in Finland and we have socialized healthcare and it works just like Michael says in his movie. We are not anti-american freedom haters or communist, no - We are free, democratic country with a great healthcare for everyone, Private healthcare sucks, Michaels ideas DO WORK - Fox is full of shit, If you have medical probleam, come here in Finland and see how its done...

  • OMG...Michael Moore had a moment there where he actually understood the hypocrisy and unfairness of collectivist health care. Your neighbors are NOT responsible for paying your bills. YOU ARE. Private charity...yes. Central planning...no.

  • heart bypass in the United States costs $130,000, but just $10,000 in India and $11,000 in Thailand. A hip replacement in the United States would cost $43,000 but just $12,000 in Thailand or Singapore. Hysterectomy costs are about $20,000 here but $3,000 in India. Please encourage medical tourism.

  • Competition is good and will keep prices as low as possible. That's the first thing to go in a collectivist health care system...competition and choice.

  • Oh yeah, that "competition keeps prices low" idea has worked great so far, hasn't it? Just read swingbabu's comment below. What a joke!

  • What did BIRTH OF A NATION do? I'll have to check the trades.

  • It will take a grassroots movement (not to sound like an old Hippie) to get this going. It's an across the board issue...all have to be involved. My fear is that if someone has one share of Aetna or the others...they will feel threatened. That is the problem with public offerings of health insurance stocks. It's all about a bottom line.

  • A lot of supporters of universal healthcare have rather simple-minded analyses. But I still agree with them. According to an article on wikipedia about "Healthcare", Afghanistan and Iraq have universal healthcare that is funded by the U.S. Very ironic. The federal government pays for the universal coverage for two other countries but not its own.

  • A lot of supporters of universal healthcare have rather simple-minded analyses. ON WHAT BASIS OF FACT DO YOU SUPPORT THIS ON? Most that have been a victim of OUR HCS, are simple minded! I BEG TO DIFFER with you on this point.

  • I base that on the many arguments I have heard. Many think it is essentially as simple as getting rid of profit and covering all citizens. It certainly is not. I do not know how much you know of course. Although I do advise people to go to amsa dot org slash uhc website to learn more. Moore wants to get this issue to peoples attention, but I am sure he believes people should become better informed whether they are poorly informed or well informed. It does not hurt to know more.

  • I believe a lot of comments are coming out of urgency. Many do not have the longevity of ignorance displayed by OUR Government is still talking, perhaps the lack of knowledge "simple-minded is misplaced. I know it has been an issue over 26 years.

    Barbara Dietrich RN

  • They kicked me out of The County Hospital Told me there was nothing they could do for me .I had to do a gall stone flush on the web site curezone to save my life .I had BSBC and now I dont and I cant get state care I dont qualify i have many stories

  • amen to that

  • Please dear God...PLEASE...make everyone understand that not providing health care is MORALLY wrong. Making it inacessible is MURDER. PRE MEDITATED MURDER. This should be a bi partisan effort once and for all. Leave your Blue Cross, Aetna, Healthnet stocks at the door.

  • In this movie Moore shows us who it was that started all this in the first place. It's documented and it made me mad as hell.

  • Artistic Freedom in Cuba?? Are you kidding? You say or do anything against castro and you get thrown in jail. If the healthcare is soo good in Cuba. Why do cubans jump in rafts and risk their lives to come to the USA? What a retard.

  • That is one of the reasons that I am afraid to see the movie. I am in total agreement with Moore but why couldn't he have gone to the Canadian Border and yell across the Falls? Castro's Cuba is an US and THEM healthcare system. It's far from Utopia. However I am not going to abandon the issue because Moore's judgment is not that great with the Cuba thing in my opinion.

  • HEY YOU LIBERAL ASSHOLES

Sicko came in no.9 at the weekend box office

took in a whopping $4.5 million. Google It.

  • 4.5 mil is very high for a documentary. Especially since it opened in 400 theaters. Most big movies open in 2000 theaters. It's a strategy. Sorry, you can't google it.

  • BennyBaby, In my Philadelphia area Sicko played in 14 theaters. It's not a "limited engagement" film. Totally accessible.

  • I read that SICKO did 3,000 per screen, and Ratatouille did 4200 per screen. For a documentary on a boring topic to even rank is unheard of, yes, he's Michael Moore, but still... Anyway, let's see how word of mouth does, since I saw 400 previews for Ratatouille and not one for Sicko.

  • You know, unlike "Fahrenheit 9/11," "SiCKo" really isn't politically motivated. So, there's really no reason to start lashing out at liberals. The American health care system is something everyone who is human and American should be concerned with. I might have understood why there was some animosity with "Fahrenheit 9/11." I don't understand why there would be animosity for this film (from anyone other than health insurance employees and lobbyists).

  • Exactly

  • This reporter is biased. Maybe this station gets lots of money from pharmeceutical ads. It wouldn't suprise me.

  • The reporter struck me as being irritatingly biased. I may be biased though, I don't like douchebags.

  • i hate to admit it but the US does suck when it comes to health care

  • this society was founded on evil, greed, rape, theft, trickory, lies and deciet. Ask the native americans and human imports (black people and chinese ) . How can you get good from evil? DESTROY AND REBUILD. AMERICA'S CORE IS ROTTEN.

  • How about just rebuild?....one brick at a time...

I doubt the youth of America are rotten.

They seem pretty depressed and over-welmed by the MESS they are being left with. Gen-X will come into power soon, we'll see what happens.

  • AIEEEEEEEEE!! Generation X TAKING CARE OF BABY BOOMERS!!

  • Cuba, a repressive Communist dictatorship, has free speech, free dissent or artistic/religious freedom? Yeah, and Michael Moore never invested in Halliburton... oh yeah, he did invest major wads in Halliburton in 1999 and 2000, then lied about it, claiming to be anti- Capitalist/anti- Wall Street. The guy does know how to look people in the eye and lie to their faces. Just like Clinton and Bush did regarding Saddam Hussein and WMD.

  • Was not repressive. key word is SANCTIONS. YOUR VIEW OF CUBA IS WARPED BY A capitlistic media that has no interest of showing the good parts of socialism..Why should a capitalistic media show socialism in a good light that alone would threatned it's reign.

  • Also kind of warped by the people that keep washing up on our beaches who set themselves adrift on wooden rafts and innertubes. LOL!

  • It kinda proves one thing. The US Govt has the military power to kill more people than any other nation in the world. But hasnt got the power to save its own people. How Ironic!

  • "I denied a man the neccesary operation and this cost his death"

    Nuff said

  • If government were remotely competent and/or efficient, I might support Socialist health care. But, I trust government less than the private sector when it comes to many issues. Socialism has been a massive failure and made Europe less efficient, less wealthy and less competent than the U.S. in most areas. I just don't think Bush and Kennedy and Gore and Clinton and McCain are capable of making health care better in this country. Plus, they already have WAY too much power as it is.

  • IT FAILED because of sanctions. If a society can plant 90% of food resources locally on their own soil it would elimainate sanctions.. a way of generating products locally instead of importing goods...SANCTIONS starved jamaica when prime minister Manley tried socialism.

  • lizzielou73 (21 hours ago)

I would go in as much debt as necessary to pay for my medical bills and then work the debt out. Friends of mine in the US work out their bills with hospitals

Lizzie is posting on multiple vids...troll!!! if you don't like it don't watch. But I can smell a troll a mile away.

  • I'm not a troll and should be able to post on multiple videos just like anyone. I want people to know the full story, as Moore has not presented.

  • No, you can't post on more than one vid unless you agree with nanderson65, it's in the official liberal handbook for the improvement of the internet environment, and I quote "anyone who has a opposing view should read more and not express such views as this behavorior forces us liberals to put forth more effort than is deemed to be fair by the International Union For the Advancement Of Thought Control.."

  • socialism is democracy.

  • Usually people talking Moore's movie down, are often uneducated people, who have no basic knowledge.I am a proud american, just like Moore. But I have lived in germany, italy and visited france. Those countries not only have better free health care, their entire college education is also free.Day care,Kindergarten is free.Sure those countries have higher taxes, but after all,it benefits them more.

  • Everyone: I just wrote a letter to my congressman, urging him to improve our health system, and I haven't lived in the US for 4 years (though still a US citizen). If I can do something, so can you. If you walk out of Sicko hoping that you'll get better health care, but then do nothing, then you will have wasted the momentum created by this film. We must act now if we want change!

  • to tell you this guy is dum ass making of this movie really is not gona make any differece in our health care system, but by taking americans to cuba to get them treatment naaaa dont think so cuba would of shoot them in a heart beat, how do i know that because i live in cuba for a long time now i live in spain and to tell you guys its much better here, michael moore all he wants is our money and attention, be smart and find out ur own info

  • What the hell are you saying? I think universal health care in US would be a good thing, your a dumbass. Probaby a bushinite

  • Damn, media always tries to put a spin on something. I swear, this interview is a classic example of how maintream media dodges important points and how they bring up very unimportant issues but leave it lingering in the audiences' minds. His weight and him being preacher is pointless greater topic of profit in the healthcare industry. Listen to the way he says "savagely" attacked Bush. It's typical, and it works

  • You can get the money to go the WAR and Kill..

you can get the money to cure also or if you have to choose, which one you will choose in the first place ?

THE ANSWER GOT TO BE BY VOTE IN A ELECTION! is ain't it ? ?

  • Way to go, Mr. Moore...shine a light on this dark age goverment!

  • wow. 14 minute segment and no mention of the actual issues his film brings up. how do they get away with this? not one question about the actual health care crisis in the US.

and if the reporter is so concerned with amnesty reports how about he read some directed at the US?

  • The reporter does not have to mention the detiorating human rights situation in the US nor the abismal one in the countries it occupies to have a point about the stupidity of Michael's statement about freedom of expression in Cuba. Google "Black Spring." Look at the websites for PEN International and Reporters Without Borders.

  • He does a disservice to his social critique and to the specific issue he is championing (which does not belong to him but affects all of us in the US) by being simplistic in order to win an argument. A flaw he can't seem to get rid of. Too bad.

  • BUT 1. The embargo sucks 2. The way he treats Cuba in the movie is fine 3. Bush et al have zero right to prosecute, esp. the 9/11 workers. A new low, if that's possible. 4. If there were ever any serious danger that Michael Moore would do jail time over this "tell me where to line up" ;-) cuz that's not happening in my country.

  • Hey folks - watching a movie won't bring us health care, as you know. It's time to act. This is the big enchilada. Universal health care will not be given to us without serious effort, as the HMO industry will fight it tooth and nail. Ask yourself how did slavery end? How did we get labor laws? How did women get the right to vote? All came through organized action - they were not gifts. Together, we can do it. I'm gonna start writing letters to whomever I can.

  • Sometimes the media tries to portray Michael Moore as an extremist, but in reality he is NOT extreme, he is just one of the most brilliant, Gutsy, and good-hearted ppl out there...more Americans should be like him, we dont have to make films, but we should do our part

  • Oh and did I also mention, that non of these european countries claim to be the best and the richest. But we in the U.S. do,at least our goverment does, and we still can take care of the sick and the old.Like europeans and canadians do.And we claim we are the richest nation on earth???

  • Also, its so so true,no european resident, nor candadien resident would never ever wanna trade their health care with the americans. The reason some europeans complain about their health care,is because they want more. But non of them would ever wanna have our crappy health care system.I know that, because I used to live in Germany and France and have to this days friends from europe.

  • Thats why many come to America for Health Care. Free Health Care for everyone, means Quailty Health Care for No one.

  • U got that a bit wrong. The reason some people from certain countries get treatment in the U.S. is because certain surgery methods are done only in the U.S. also vice versa.Example, there are still better eye-disease treatment, and cancer treatments in Germany, than in any other country.Bottom Line,no one from France,Germany or Italy, would trade their health coverage, with any of ours. For one,you won't find one single person in any european country that does not have health care/insurance.

  • I would be willing to trade. Have been fighting since childhood to receive proper healthcare in Canada. I've been fighting for 4 years with deteriorating lungs to get on a lung transplant list. I'll be travelling to the US this summer for care and I'm not wealthy.

  • Nice try ABC, Michael Moore is doing the job you cowards wont do

  • I totally agree with you SayUncle.Michael Moore is doing a fantastic thing showing what are crappy health care system is about. But it should not be Moore doing this,it should be the news like ABC reporting this issue before Moore did.But remember every news station is owned by pharmacuitcal companies, who pay them lots of money! God Bless Moore!!!

  • haha! your totally right, i was gonna post a comment then realized you did it for me!

    good show!

  • Way to go Michael Moore!

  • Health care system is screwed up and corrupt but damn, I'm not gonna move to Cuba. It would be like cutting off your finger to remove a hangnail. Why doesn't he move to Cuba or Venezuela if their so great and they have it right? Because he knows that it's bullshit, he just hates this country thats all.

  • We are on the 39th place just 2 above Cuba in Healthcare. And he doesn't only go to Cuba he also goes to Canada and France, who have the same type of Healthcare.

The point is that our Healthcare system is flawed and that is a fact

    Another interesting fact

A breathalizer costs 140 in the US and somebody needs it and is a hardworking citezen that helped in the US and can't afford it Cube 5 cents

  • There's an awful lot that Michael Moore is not telling the public. In addition, he twists the information around to suit his film. In my province in Canada we do in fact pay for an ambulance. When a family member is taken to a nursing home it can cost them or their family $600.00. Canada is listed by WHO is being number 30 for healthcare just a little above the US. Our waiting lists for care are too long and people do die waiting for care.

  • A friend's father in the United States had a heart attack when he was 55: he had always been self-employed and he hadn't thought of buying into any HMOs. He couldn't work for a year while he recovered, and so lost his mortgage-free home, his two cars, and he and his business ended up massively in debt because his wife could only work part time while she cared for him.

Quick question: how much debt would you go into for your child? And how could you ask someone to make that choice?

  • I'm sorry for your friend's father, however nowing insurance was necessary he should have had insurance or have been putting funds aside into a medical fund for his family and himself. Healthcare in Canada is not free. We pay through our taxes. Insurance of some kind is also necessary. If the US chooses universal healthcare decisions must be made on how this system will be funded - taxes, yearly premiums or a combination including insurance.

  • Most of the folks in this movie _thought they were covered_. The medical plans that they did have didn't help them.

Privatized medicine is business: the first (and often only) objective is to make money.

And answer my question: how far into debt would you go for your child? 50% of people who filed for bankruptcy in 2001 in the US did so _because of medical circumstances_.

How can that be considered good?

  • I would go in as much debt as necessary to pay for my medical bills and then work the debt out. Friends of mine in the US work out their bills with hospitals. They have CF. I have chronic lung disease in Canada that I was born with and obtaining medical care here has been a nightmare.

  • Where does "necessary" end? One heart attack can end your entire family's fortune. This is especially true of the oldest among us: what had been saved instead goes to hospitals. Debt suddenly appears when the person's earning power is at its lowest.

As for medical familiarity: my dad has cancer; my step-father's had two heart attacks; my wife's had emergency surgery (twice) on her Bartholon's gland; I've broken various bits of myself and have a chronic stomach problem. One friend has CF.

  • Gods, I hate this 500 character limit!

Somewhere we can write in full-sized thoughts: my blog is "polite company" (google it) and check out March of this year for a couple appropriate posts. Write a comment anywhere in there and we can continue talking. Hope to see you there!

  • My mom had bypass surgery, had a cat bite infection that went untreated, has Alzheimers, and I have severe lung disease and atypical CF. My friend's father died of cancer in Canada - the system did little for him and he was forced to wait to long for care. I've been trying to get on a transplant list since 2003. I'm very familiar with Canada's healthcare system.

  • But government has a long track record of spending huge sums on money (on poverty, for example) and achieving poor results. What makes you think the goverment will be more efficient and make things better, when it so often makes problems worse?

  • Yes, "free" health care is not free at all. And "universal" health care means illegal aliens will get health care at taxpayers' expense.

  • money sems to be you motive for your thinking instead of conscience...Tax payers dollars and money.First of all the government can't even account for 2 trillion dollars in lost money.

  • Actually the US is in 37th place and Canada is in 30th (not great).

  • Who rates us? Do you know? BAA -BAA, hey look over there- your shepard is opening a gate! Hurry and run through with all the other sheep. EVERYTHING is corrupt as I said but the problem is not the damn government! I've sat in an emergency room lots of times and seen people in pain while the kids and a-holes working there played grab ass and acted like doing their job was an inconvenience, but after a while who can blame them?

  • At least 25% of the people in there were druggies or alcoholics or people with med cards clogging the place up with minor B.S. or looking for attn. or free coffee. The problem as with everything else is the PEOPLE!! The problem is that they can use these services for free! The hospital screws the insurance co. the ins. co. screws your employer and your employer screws you. Crap rolls downhill!!

  • The answer is responsible use of health care and for people to reject these HUGE conglomerate wasteful machine type companies. Competition in other words and companies where the people running them actually give a shit about the organization. Not an investment group that just watches #'s.

  • . The problem is my fault and your fault and his fault and her fault etc. etc. But don't let logic get in your way- believe what you're told- do what you're told and run through the gate!!! GO ON GET RUNNING!!

  • And BTW, what is this about needing a breathalyzer? If anyone needs a breathalyzer it must be you, I generally quit around four beers.

  • So let me get this straight, Moore doesn't have the

right to speak about health care because he's fat, but

somehow GWB is able to speak about war and stragety

when he never even came close to war or war stragety

when he was in the National Guard. Priceless...

  • very well said!

  • what's wrong with America- anything goes if you can make a buck on it!

  • Budvb made such a great comment, I would like to repeat it :

To fix the Whole american system is to keep driving up Debt so when the Armies of those nations we owe our debt to, come and collect, and take everything we have. When us american Private Owned Dollar goes flat us American can get off our lazy asses and work to rebuild the whole system. Instead of just running the Printing Press to make us more money! Party On! Keep Consuming!

  • M moore is the sicko!

  • wow they really tried to spin Moore as an asshole here.. does anyone notice that?

His comment said it all: countries with Universal Health care aren't saying its a utopia but they'd never trade for our system. That's the movie in a nutshell.

  • I noticed the spin. I have worked in the Medical Records/Ins. dept. of hospitals. I could tell some horror stories just like Michael Moore did. Some people have to sell their property to pay their medical bills. It really is hard to believe sometimes that the US has no Universal Healthcare...this movie is gonna be hard to watch.

  • Everyone should watch ALEX JONES's documentares.

They are way more hard-core than Michael Moore's fluffy stuff... in Fahrenheit 911, Moore doesn't even talk about NORAD standing down on 9/11 or Building 7, or any of the really important issues like the reports of bombs going off all over the place and much more that he don't talk about.

    Watch: 911 MYSTERIES

Watch: RISE OF THE POLICE STATE

    Watch: THE ROAD TO TYRANNY

    Watch: TERRORSTORM

  • Yes Michael Moore is amazing. Godly status

  • :-)

    Thank you Michael.

    There is no god.

If you wanna know what there is.

    :-)
