  • thanx for the vid/tip by the way...this is what makes sampling a true art form

  • Your drums be on point bro. Thanks for the tuning tips. I appreciate what you do. Keep it up stay blessed

  • how did you lift (filter) MJB's vocal off the sample???

  • I sampled the acapella @deijajadewalker

  • @sownds08 thanx...where's a good place to get acapellas? ive been looking around but cant seem to find a good one stop shop...

  • @sownds08 How'd you tune it? Just by counting the bars? Or did you change the tempo like increase the speed or decrease the speed of the acapella to match the rest of the song?

  • @sownds08 Not to sure what you mean, like if I were to sample an acapella like you did how do I let the acapella stretch out to be on point with the bpm? Instead of like having the acapella be totally off of the beat itself. Like yours when MJB sings her rift goes through and matches with the bpm. Do you just tune it until it fits with your beat? Or is there a process in which you have to alter the sample in order for the tempo to fit your beat?

  • I pretty much just tuned the sample to match beat. This one was more of a challenge though because I also had to make sure the the sample was in tune with the keys I played. @B3A5TA

  • How did you sync the sample with the bpm? That's what throws me off, I run off of Logic Pro and I get so confused with tuning the sample to the bpm.

Any help would be appreciated or shoot me an inbox anybody!

  • You can either change the bpm on the on the track or tune the sample to match the track or or both. You have to let the whole sequence play out each time and adjust it little by little until it matches perfectly @B3A5TA

  • @sownds08 When you say tune up and down, are you talking about the octave of the sample or something else? And do you need a special program to isolate the vocals from samples? But thanks for sharing your knowledge and some of your beats. Another banger

  • TUNING A SAMPLE JUST MEANS CHANGING THE SPEED. I USUALLY JUST LOOK FOR THE ACCAPELLA VERSION OF A SONG THAT I WANT TO SAMPLE BUT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT CAN SEPARATE VOCALS JUST NOT SURE WHAT IT'S CALLED . THANKS @stllwtchngvds

  • @sownds08 Oh ok I see what you mean now. So slightly speed one up and slow one down. Great tip. When I think about it, this method is used a lot.

  • so do you have a website where we can hear your beats? no on video but like an audio file?

  • nice video

  • This vide was very interesting and to the point Great Job man

Big Up....all tha best with the Music.

  • yo great vid man. sick beat. sub'd and liked.

  • The effect is aliasing. Good info mang!

  • That was hot... it is in the memory banks! LOL

  • Just putting it out there... But your avoiding phase issues, not flanging.

  • Dang great tip that probably shouldn't have been revealed lol, but thanks anyway for your generosity

  • great tip thanks

  • Good info bro. You should be an engineer. Most producers don't care about this type of precision. That's called stereo imaging. You are basically widening the image. +12 octave, regular octave, then -12 octave and then pan to your liking. This is what makes vocals sound like they are around you. Especially when people have their systems hooked up properly.

  • Very nice beat!

  • interesting idea. great video

  • nice

  • dope! that mixture you did with the Biggy sample is genius if you ask me because its so relevant to Mary's sample

  • If you close your eyes, it sounds like Charlie Murphy is teaching you how to make beats LOL. For real though, thanks for the tips. That beat goes HARD! Talented dude.

  • LOL. Thanks fam @12triggaman12

  • @12triggaman12 I saw your comment before the video started, quickly covered my eyes, heard his voice, and died laughing. Thanks. Lmaooo

  • @12triggaman12 Yea it do.

  • But how do you sample the acapella? Software? or from an album...

  • Off YouTube @omgthelizardman

  • I just did it little by little until I got the sound I wanted

  • yooo how did you sample and get the vocals alone??

  • I sampled the acapella @2424atb

  • got a question do i have to have a mixer to go with my mpc 2000xl to hook up motif rack

  • You'll need a mixer to here sound from the mpc and the motif rack @theoutsideas

  • @theoutsideas can it be a dj mixer or dose it matter what kind of mixer

  • I thought it was chorus at first... It does the same thing. But I like how this way doesn't sound so... Digital and robotic. I'm gonna have to try this.

  • Track is so outta tune, what you are doing is called chorus by the way.

  • You seem to be the only who thinks its outta tune. Something must be wrong with your ears. @alexgowers

  • @sownds08 no it's out of tune, it's not about majority rule

  • genius btw

  • Nice

  • i still wonder how to sample a song that already had a beat

anyone know a vid or have a tip for me?

  • @MrQbeats

Yeah you just try to keep your hip-hop beat relatively close to the same BPM of the track that you're samplin. Then you line up your snare over the sampled tracks snares. Then put an EQUALIZER over it. Play with the EQ/Filter till it sounds good. And base you drums around the sampled tracks drums. There is a lot of tracks where this won't work. The key to sampling is finding a drumless sample or one with drums that you feel already. Hope I helped.

  • @Ibprius yh i understand now, thanks man you really helped me

  • what song is that sample from? good work! love from germany

  • Comment removed

  • how long did it take to do thhat

  • Just a few seconds to be honest with you @stokezbeats

  • good tip, ILL ASS BEAT!

  • Thanks fam! @returninginsurgent

  • @sownds08 btw, you're a genius. I've always panned samples (on the ASR) for the stereo effect, but NEVER understood why I got that damn flanger effect everytime! Until now! a million thanks...

  • Thanks for the tip, Ill try this out next time I use a vocal sample.

  • man, simple tools like this would make alot of peoples beats tighter. im a lil slow in the mix cuz im still learning my software more and more but this will help me out mos def when i wanna get that effect. good look kid

  • how do u get just tha voice out of tha song ... no instrumnetal

  • You gotta find the acapella version to the song you want @xMASSxDx187x

  • i love the track bro... can i use it for a mixtape?? I do gospel hip hop, and the message in all of what you sample just spoke to me.... Hit me up.

  • you mean phaser. not flanger. when you play shit just a split second out of time, youll get phasing issues. which means the actual waves arent in pefect time. look it up

  • @globalsmoke no I mean FLANGER. That's what I'm trying to avoid by not playing the samples at the exact same speed. Thanks for watching though.

  • can u pen drums in ablenton live

  • Not really sure never worked with it @theoutsideas

  • @theoutsideas yes you can... there is piano roll and other stuff plus great slicing features

  • @theoutsideas im pretty sure u can.

  • I think i heard Biggie in the end lol..

  • @JakzBeats it you did. Haha

  • Damn thats sick!! Check my page - my latest video is rick ross style beat and I used the 2pac - I'm gettin money sample....Another great effect is to mess around with the Parametric EQ! Let me know what you think!!

  • sounds great!

    cheers

  • that's wicked man..good tip
