I can't quote any facts, but i'm almost certain that the SU-30MK2 is easily outgunned in maneuverability and all other areas by the F/A-18A, F/A-18B, and F/A-18E (Super Hornet).
I read a little while ago that the SU-35 is slightly better than the F/A-18, so based on that, the F/A-18 would destroy the SU-30MK2.
I think the F-18 isnt a pure air superiority aircraft either; it has the attack role too. It also has more navy/marine roles than combatting the likes of an SU.The SU isnt going to stand a chance against an F-22 or similar.
The Hornet is a great plane, definitely my favourite, however these are the facts:
Pilot aside, no existing F/A-18A/B/C/D/E/F is superior to the SU-35 in WVR due to its superior maneuverability. BVR, no Hornet yet sports the capability for air-to-air IRST either, the SU does. Subsequently the E/F APG-79 AESA's stealthy features do not translate to a significant advantage (SU will engage radar off). The E/F would probably defeat the MK2, however the A/B/C/D in current configurations would not.
Wohoo the Swedish Airforce must be full of fuck-ups when they accept someone who even can't communicate when in an airplane, refferring to that english is the official "airtraffic-language"...
So is the U.S education system. You obviously missed a few spelling and grammar classes. Just in case you're too ignorant to figure out what you missed - [reffering - referring]. Thanks for posting.
i live in sweden and i am a figher pilot on ja-39 gripen in karlstad sweden. and last week my bataljon was in california and flew f/A-18 hornet . It was my best day in my life, Torque !!!!!!! I brake the sound berrier after 35 sek 600 knop ! If you wanna be a fighter pilot, Studdy Studdy Studdy Math ! Math math math! alot om math when you fly ! Keep up . nice movie!
I want to be a pilot and im trying to get all the qualifications that u need for school and im really good at physics but i just foiund out u need maths b and the stupid school made me drop cuz i only got a c+ cuz i skipped a yr but i just went back up and had to do the semester exam in one week... i got an a- :D
Ignore that kid that replied to you. I had glasses, contacts now, and the Navy is paying for me to go to college and major in professional flight. The summer after my junior year they're going to pay for me to get PRK, the military's preferred method of laser eye correction, and I'll be good to go as far as being a fighter pilot. Keep your grades up, be involved in school, stay out of trouble, and you're well on your way.
Really, you can join naval aviation with glasses? I'm taking Algebra I right now in 8th grade, I always have 90 to 100s in that class. Do I need to keep up that kind of qualification to do what you are doing?
You still can't fly with contacts/glasses, but if you get PRK once your eyes have matured you can get a waiver that allows you to fly. What I have is just the Navy ROTC scholarship..just google it. You'll need to challenge yourself academically, or at least look like you are, and get involved in other things, sports, NHS, student council, mentoring..that kind of stuff, grades are a must, but they're not enough on their own.
I'm doing golf, and I have track, cross country, and soccer lined up next. If I keep doing these and continue it in high school along with ROTC, good grades, I'll be close to that PRK and the Navy?
Yep, just get good grades and be involved like I said. Apply for the scholarship fall of your junior year. Even if you don't get it, you can do NROTC and get it after your freshman year. They'll pay all educational expenses, like in my case $40k in flight fees over and above tuition, so it is a very nice scholarship. You've still got plenty of time to think things over, but it's an option I'd keep on the table.
WRONG, Superhornet is 20% bigger in all aspect power, fuel , and, weapons. the tomcats twin OIl refinery drainers would never have a greater range than the E/F. Plus the E/F can do a box loop with no vectored thrust and that is just DOPE! AM2 USN VFA-122 E/F BABY...
I'm not one to argue and I love the Hornet, but the Rhino is almost a 1:1 match with a Hornet in alot of respects minus Payload. Comparable is the term I would use. Against 20+ years of the Hornet development, and it really isn't that much improvement. Put THAT against the 30+ years of Tomcatting and you've got an inferior aircraft in many ways. What's payload, if you need to sacrifice for drop tanks? A Square Loop?? Canadian Hornet's do it all of the time, and that's an A/B Model!
ask a grunt, they will tell you what plane they want to provide CAS(that means close air support) you're probably too stupid to know that. you are the fucking retard...learn how to spell
he's right, its not the greatest jet out there by far. strike: tomcat D was faster over greater distance with a respectable payload. CAP tomcat is faster and loner ranged, better armed and has a more capable radar... only thing the hornet has on the cat is low maintenance. Look up Tomcat 21 on google, would have been far superior to the Hornet E/F, what makes the E/F special is all software any aircraft could be adapted to use. Choosing the E/F was political.
