I love that you look at the camera at the beginning and let us join you. Thanks for connecting....not to mention ..that you are a smoothe operator dancing all over those frets. LOL
Thanks,Harky1951 I think connecting with your audience is very important.I'm glad you find so much pleasure in listening to my Music.all the best Vic.
Thanks Country, glad you liked it,I enjoy playing bass myself too, especially walking bass. this is an older B.I.B. version set on Bossa, for this style it sounds pretty good, cheers Vic.
Practice, practice. Never enough time. But now I'm able to get through a few of the standards in order to accompany myself. That's the fun stuff.
For the discipline, I'm studying 6-2-4-5-1 progressions in two positions, numerous arpeggios and diatonic and blues scales some major and minor 9ths, and a 13th shape on the 6th string. So , yeah, I've been working. Thanks for asking. And thanks for the shining example.
Good Sista, see you're doing some drilling Stuff which always comes in handy in various situations. Try to incorporate that Stuff into your playing right away and they will lead a long life(you'll always be using them) all the best, Vic.
Great job. I heard the version by Don Sugarcane Harris on violin. Nice to see it on the guitar as I'm trying to work out my own version. Got the chords and melody just need to put it together. You played it masterfully. You look pleased with yourself as you look in the camera at the end.
@aspirepacman1972 Thanks there are several good versions of this piece, at the end I know that I have done a decent job,It all felt very good and then it is good (nearly always)cheers Vic.
When I was 4 or 5 years old I used to play the this song over and over again. This song and "The In Crowd" by the Ramsey Lewis Trio were what started my love of jazz.
Thanks Victor you carry my name, welcome again, here some day I was looking at at a 12/8 Blues and what expression in performance with great solo from trumpeter Blue Mitchel, cheers Vic.
@AndanteLargo Per it's a quite well known Jazz standard, but I understand you can't know all the tunes, there's a gigantic repertoire out there, cheers Vic.
Hey Vic, Loved it .........your work is really lovely, sweet lines that are very melodic.......... I am workin on my playin daily... If U can ; check out my improv. on Our Day Will Come....Got a new camcorder and I am still not sure of the settings..........KEEPON STRUMMIN...DALLAS
nicely played as ever. I think you're quite right Horace Silver has left us some great tunes. Sophisticated but down to earth and sort of bluesy at the same time. And as you will know a lot of people know just a little bit of his music without knowing anything about Horace Silver thanks to Steely Dan's "Rikki Don't Lose That Number"... ;-)
no, I'd never dare tell you so... ;-) but the intro to Rikki DLTN with its octave "riff" cites "Song For My Father" as recorded (and composed) by Horace Silver clearly enough to be recognized not just as a brazen rip off but as a honest tribute.
@vladgromek OK I get the picture, well you know the Dann they're always listening to the Jazz guys that's why their Music is always so harmonic (and ,melodic) interesting,so a quote here and there is quite understandable, b.t.w. there's a recording of Senor Blues I sent out and there Horace is playing absolutely great on a 12/8 Blues, really incredible, check it out. Vic.
just listening to Senor Blues... these 12/8 pieces are great because you can sort of change your "internal" groove by counting in units of 3 or 4 which both go well within the 12...
For some reason my post didn't,, well post. I was saying this is one of my all times fave songs. You do it such great justice. It gives me hope for my own playing. Keep up the great work.
Oh man, that was sweet! Love that tune. That's your Ibanez GB-20, yes? A few years ago I was in Curaçao and there some cats playing at the Avila Hotel in the west part of Willemstad. The guitarist had a GB-20 and a couple of GB-10s. Wonder if they are still there?
@peleka Well in a weeks time I'll be going in that direction and if it's nice I'll jam along, they're mighty fine guitars, looking forward to get away from this cold weather, cheers Vic.
@mprovision thanks Lance, always welcome my dear friend, thought you'd like this one, be sure to check out my latest "Daytripper" I'm sure you'll have a ball,I did playing it and making up the parts,Vic.

@jwwetzel thanks James, indeed a Classic but nicely composed and always a pleasure to play, you can keep it simple but if you want you can sneak in some sophistication, greets Vic.
Vic, I have always love this song, in fact, my uncle Pilar, would play this all the time. Horace Silver, boy, do I remember him all so well. I love what you did to this tune. It brings back a lot of wonderful memories. Always a pleasure to hear this song. Thanks so much for sharing it with me too. Peace be with you. Best to you for this wonderful New Year.
@HenQ715 thanks Hen,it's a great little tune which I enjoy jamming on, from the first time I heard it I fell in love with it, thanks for your visit and hope all's well with your health,Vic.
That was just pure gold! There are so many good guitar players in YT, but I have rarely heard anyone play each note so clean and make such tasteful arrangements of these jazz classics. And the sound of that guitar is heavenly, especially when you emphasize the bass lines.
@abhikmazumder Your love of Music speaks from your statements, for me Music is pure "Art" and I treat her with deepest respect, every nuance has to be there and on the spot, I owe it to her,Vic.
@beautyjudge It's great you mention this, Jazz is about visualizing, hearing, interacting, it's about having the Music "INSIDE" of you, that's the difference with reading Music from paper,Vic.
Oh, Vic! Now my life is complete. Between David Benoit's cover on piano, and The Guru of Cool pulling us along on the end of his strings, wow! This is sweeter than a cuba libre after a surfside promenade!
Cheers, ~Terry -- (my sister has discovered you via Freddy's site! LOL. You know what they say about a "prophet" in their own home. It doesn't matter to me if she took a circuitous route to "discover" you; the point is she is duly awed by your smooth style.)
@BocaFriend Terry, oh yes Dave Benoit, mighty fine player and his collab with Emily Remler(R.I.P.)for me was among the high lights, see you love the Stuff I also listen too. What about Lee Ritenouer "Wes meets East" I'll drink 6 cuba libres while fantasising to that Music,if your sister is just as good as you with words I'm a lucky guy,big hug Vic.
@BocaFriend Terry you're welcome, through the big heap of what's offered here on YT you sometimes have to look with magnifying glass to find the gems, you'll find them thought, I'll have a listen to your mail, big hug Vic.
Great chord progressions, Vic, that was fantastic. I enjoyed every second of this one, believe me. I love your smooth sound coming from that guitar and your fingers...although you know sound is not always that important for me. It´s your playing. And this one was the highlight of the day here on YT.Thank you!
@LONGWINDING thanks so much Frank, that's a great statement brother and you know when it's playing and recording time my concentration level rises and I hope for the best, that's improvisation. Great having you here my friend with your musical and critical ears, Vic.
This is also a song for Sabine :-) Really enjoyed!
From where do you always get the background music Vic? I don´t mind you never need to wash your car or do other jokes on youtube - please do only play guitar!
Hi dear Lady Sabine, I got a B.I.B.(band in a box ) program and I program these tracks myself.I , I play guitar and that's my life, others fill their earthly time with other things and hopefully they feel happy doing that. Real "Art" is what concerns me and the rest well OK but not my priority, not even the new Messiah: hedonism and making money, big hug Vic.
@SabMei1 Thanks Sabine,I didn't mean to sound harsh because if interpreted wrong that word has a very negative meaning, but how glad I am with your interpretation, you turned it into pure love and positivism. Yes you make me feel the richness again with words that make me aware. Your mirror is one of great friendship, hug Vic.
Thanks Frets200, poetic words from the Heart, you honer me. Your words have depth and while meditating on them I know what you mean, isn't it great ,the Volcano meets the Ocean in sizzling harmony? Vic.
it sounds just awesome!!! Really cool piece!! It is always a big pleasure to listen to you!! No video sounds like the other!!! I really enjoy that!! A big hug Sarah :-)
@sguitar Sarah, and your message always comes across just great, just was experimenting with some words here for fun, mouth and thirsty seemed kinda nice, big hug and pleasant dreams Vic.
@sguitar I love speaking in Images, there's a guitarist here in Holland named:Jan Akkerman and he uses these bright metaphors and mostly they're mind blowing because your mind's eye exactly sees what he means, very creative with words indeed not only with notes, lol, I'll have a listen, hug Vic.

a talent. And I've sent you a Wes meets East type of byproduct of this thread. The remarkable young artist JonathanStAmour is truly worthy of seeing!
And I have to thank for my discovery of him! ~Terry

Jazzguts 2 years ago
I´m afflicted with hedonism - of your smooth jazz guitar playing :) I faved it today. Don´t you know how rich you are Vic?
SabMei1 2 years ago
@SabMei1 Thanks Sabine,I didn't mean to sound harsh because if interpreted wrong that word has a very negative meaning, but how glad I am with your interpretation, you turned it into pure love and positivism. Yes you make me feel the richness again with words that make me aware. Your mirror is one of great friendship, hug Vic.

metaphors dont do Vic justice.
He's the swan that can soar like and eagle while floating like a butterfly.
Visiting his youtube homepage is like visiting a master chocolatier what ever you decide to .
