I honestly dont think one time of the air horn is going to permantly scar the dog of other loud noises. Now, if you constantly sneak up on the dog and do it...Yes, i could see that coming into play...but one time, of him actually getting caught in the act...Dogs are pretty smart. He wont associate the noise with abuse...hell associate it with..OH Im Busted! Granted, I agree that there are other ways to train a dog to do something, but not everyones methods of training work. (no im not hating)

@awsem19 What's more dangerous is letting them continue their counter surfing where they can get a hold of something that could make them sick or even worse kill them. Air horns are perfect because they are loud enough to correct your animal without you being right there when they are a lot less likely to do the behaviour you are attempting to correct.

i understand that if you blow an airhorn at a cat or dog for no reason then yes that would be mean. but a dog jumping up on the counter is bad and your teaching them not to do that. its not animal abuse. thats like saying spanking your child because they did something bad is child abuse.

Case in point my friends dog is now terrified of loud noises because her uncle blew an air horn in its ear.
