Germany had fine teams in the 70's and 80's and dominated European football in the 70s with many world class players,Beckenbauer and Muller etc,they are not producing top class talent anymore in abundance.

and by just throwing two great names from the 70s and 80's at me does not win you any argument. ballack was a truely great player, the season before he inspired leverkusen to a champs league final. kahn is arguably the greatest goalkeeper of his and any other generation and remains the only keeper to win word cup golden ball. klose is a great player and was top goalscorer in the last world cup and came second in 2002 to the great ronaldo. podolski, lahm and schweinsteiger are also world class.

Dunphy's funny, but I wouldn't put much pass on his actual opinions. He picks on players / teams and maintains a hate on them for a long time regardless of how they're doing/playing. Any real opinions are borrowed from Giles. He's an entertainer, not an analyst. And people need to get over Andy Reid, he isn't Xabi Alonso or Andrea Pirlo. Sure, he should be in the team ahead of Gibson, but that's not really difficult.
