Yea the ak47 was a winner cuz of how much the bad gunpowder and the no cleaning kits made the m16a1 fail if they had good powder and cleaning kits this is the best version of the m16 and the ak47 and it should have like tied. And yea

best m16 model ever! Fuck you cod fags you probably don't know what gas operated meens. I know a shit load about weapons if you have any questions on how to fix your gun or anything please message me.
this gun sucks. i dont care what you think. the M1A2 thats a better version. the orignal sucked, jammed when dirty, many of our men died in vietnam becuase of this. and the low ammo
@camoflaguemonkey The problems were due to our guys not being told how to clean their rifles, and even that it wasn't necessary. The barrel also lacked a chrome lining which made that issue much worse (McNamara's insane decision, probably related to cost). After these issues were remedied in Vietnam, the M16A1 was much more reliable.
yeap.. the a1 still works fine.. just came back from national sevice.. i used a A1..still accurate, amazing stopping power and most of all acurate.. thank you america!...
Yes A1s are still used. If the rifle still works then there is no point in making new ones if you already have the same rifle. It is basically the same rifle and the Army is on a budget. In fact some of the old M14s have been taken out of storage and given to soldiers.
personaly if i were to have gone off to the army id rather qualify with an m14 than an m16....rough powerful raw killing power. plus its basically a sniper rifle as far as accuracy and range go. more reliable too. although both rifles do work superbly well
Very nice video. Shows how dated our thinking was back then. You know a lot about the weapon, and I agree with you we should find a replacement for at least the gas system. All the best rifles in history use a gas piston system, the M16 should be updated, it would certainly save me a lot of cleaning time. I laughed when I saw the soldier carrying it by the handle, you'd be shot for that here! Nobody actually uses the handle, it's one of the most useless parts of the rifle. M14 is the best though
Carrying a gun by its handle looks like its a civilian SUITCASE--and not a enemy-killing gun. However carrying a light, medium machine gun or a heavy Barnett Model 82 .50 caliber sniper rifle by the handle is macho-looking...
I hate all the credit the M16 gets for its "revolutionary" direct gas system. The Swedish AG42 and French MAS49 used direct gas systems decades before the M16.
Yeah I think the Italians had one of the earliest direct gas rifles. Like all direct gas rifles, it SUCKED too. If this rifle had a .270 round and used a piston mechanism of some sort rather than direct gas or .223, it would be a great rifle. But it doesn't. To bad...
We don't have M16A1s hanging around active duty arms rooms anymore. If someone wants one he can buy one on the civilian market sans full auto capabilities.
The M-16 is a piece of crap! Only reason we have it is Robert McNamara and his 'whiz' kids who thought they knew weapons. It made some people rich too, another reason. .223 is a varmint cartridge.
The M16's plastic furniture doesn't have to have the "Mattel" toy label to be disliked if its indeed flimsy as the A1 handguards are/were. Strong, hard plastic in TAN colors are outstanding for weapons compared to wood. LTG Gavin's book Crisis Now explains how we should have made Ho Chi Minh a socialist ally like Tito and kept them out of the Soviet communist orbit.
We are a corporate, fascist dictatorship right now; need to return to a Constitutional republic that represents WE THE PEOPLE not THEY THE CORPORATIONS
Thats what you guys thought in the 1770's when you got your ass ran off by Americans with guns that couldn't hit shit.
I also noticed you aren't speaking German, so agian those dumbass Americans that can't hit shit to your rescue in WWI and again in WWII,In my humble opinion its due to good instructional videos. SEMPER FI!
So does any one know if this was the orginal version of the m16a1

Man that guy just can't take his finger off the trigger --- that's NOT a safe habit.
If I tried the same tomfoolery at the local shooting range, the Rangemaster would kick my ass!

why are you not allowed to carry it by the handle then?

M16s with a gas piston system with upper receivers etc. to shoot 7.62mm x 51mm NATO should satisfy your desire to shoot a bigger bullet.

In 1965, if I am not mistaken, Mattel manufactured the grip for the M16.
First issues of the weapons had the Mattel logo in the grip, but by mid 1966 was removed.
Is this accurate?
Great film, its kinda funny because I watched before reading your description and noticed the errors.*****
My dad was in the 1st Air Cav woc3 pilot, he went in '65, and returned after coming home.
He later made it clear that it was a horrid error on our countrys behalf. They will never stop lying to us.(opinion)

Semper Fidelis latin for "Always Faithful" an empty boast of the USMC when all they are after is furthering their own weak egos.

This is amazing. To actually wonder how they really advance technology. (This rifle was used in vietnam.)
