EssZzz I don't get what you mean by forgetting the language. She is still icelandic o. O
Plus olyoxenfree you say that you adopt the accent after learning the language. I lived in new Zealand for 7 years from birth and got the full blown kiwi accent. Yet i then live in singapore for 3 years and then get and Australian accent. I got a different accent , but from the same language. Is this what you mean? Kinda?
Its so funny how cockney her accent was back in the 90s when she was living in london. Her icelandic accent is way thicker now since she's moved back.
Gosh, stop bashing her accent! She's lived in Iceland and London and traveled all over the world... she sounds different depending on the people she is surrounded by. My sister's last boyfriend is French Canadian who grew up partly in Mexico and travels all over. When we visited them in London he sounded English. So there!
@dogeymon83 where you live and the people who inspire you and surround you can have a large effect on the way you speak, i was around some scottish kids for a few hours for about a week and developed a slight scottish accent. it's not that strange. maybe she just chooses to speak in different ways when speaking to different people, and if that's the case then that's her decision. she is still the same bjork wherever she goes.

when i listen to her put-on icelandic accent nowadays, i really wonder if she might be (a bit) shizophrenic. i mean, she can speak "proper" english like we see here. so what's the point of the icelandic accent? i mean, you don't just "forget" the language, if you move out of the country. especially when you're an international superstar. strange, strange, strange.
why is everyone harping on about her accent all the time? is it really THAT important? for goodness sakes she lived in London, english is her second language, and she has traveled a lot all her life, why would she "fake" the way she talks? get real people!
Ummm. of course she's faking her accent. Her persona is a performance. But its a nice performance and its a pleasure to watch, so if you like it, then you like it if you don't then you don't.
I think it's because of the years she lived in London when starting her solo career. Even in adulthood, many people can pick up the accent of a country they move to.
She's totally weird but it suits her and I kind of like it... definitely an interesting person on the scene... not overblown as some artist are, and she seems very nice as a person :D
If you learn a certain type of English, you will automatically adopt the accent. Any linguist or anthropologist will tell you that. In Iceland, one learns British english and Bjork lives part time in England as well, it makes sense.
it could be because she made most of homogenic in Spain and at that eventual time she made bachelorette as one of the first songs to continue isobel.. hence why she had to get Sjon to help with the lyrics again so it all has to make up
Its not so hard to figure out, if your not grown up with an accent its not hard to change it. And if you talk much english for a long time you kind of addapt an accent

Why is everybody talking about her accent?! She lived in London for many years so of course she got an British accent! That`s not faking!
haendel8a 2 years ago 6
What we are seeing is Bjork can speak fluent English, she also is able to use the correct tones - meaning she is speaking with ease.
When we see modern interviews, she stresses her Icelandic accent and sounds more angular.
Maybe she didn't like sounding like a cockney?

Bjork is an amazing artist.
She is eccentric, and exclusive.
Her music is eclectic and profound.
Her lyrics may sometimes fall short or be confusing...but can't we say that regarding many artists?
I am a fan of Bjork.
That's all I am saying. I am not detracting from another artist

it's more common that your accent changes when it's your second language. when you're around no one who speaks it natively - you sound like shit!
